Unlabelled: The aim of this systemic review and meta-analysis was to examine the differences in caesarean section rates across European regions and at a country level by utilizing the Robson classification system. The study has compared caesarean rates across European regions using the Robson classification to identify the drivers of caesarean section use. This review shows significant variations in caesarean section rates across European regions, ranging from 16.

Introduction: Maternal-neonatal healthcare services were severely disrupted during the COVID-19 pandemic in even high-income countries within the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region. The objective of this study was to compare trends in the quality of maternal and neonatal care (QMNC) in Sweden and Norway to 12 other countries from the WHO European Region during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to identify domains for improvement.
Material And Methods: This cross-sectional study included women giving birth in Europe from March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022.

The technique to perform adnexectomy for adnexal masses has shifted over the last decades, from open surgery towards minimally invasive approaches. At the same time caution is warranted to prevent perioperative intra-abdominal spilling of cyst content which can be a challenge especially for very large masses. vNOTES (vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery) combines a vaginal approach with endoscopic overview in performing gynaecological surgery without abdominal scarring.

Background: Health workers' (HWs') perspectives on the quality of maternal and newborn care (QMNC) are not routinely collected. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to document HWs' perspectives on QMNC around childbirth in 12 World Health Organization (WHO) European countries.
Methods: HWs involved in maternal/neonatal care for at least one year between March 2020 and March 2023 answered an online validated WHO standards-based questionnaire collecting 40 quality measures for improving QMNC.
Memory clinic patients are a heterogeneous population representing various aetiologies of pathological ageing. It is not known whether divergent spatiotemporal progression patterns of brain atrophy, as previously described in Alzheimer's disease patients, are prevalent and clinically meaningful in this group of older adults. To uncover distinct atrophy subtypes, we applied the Subtype and Stage Inference (SuStaIn) algorithm to baseline structural MRI data from 813 participants enrolled in the DELCODE cohort (mean ± standard deviation, age = 70.

This Expert Panel Narrative Review explores the current status of advanced MRI and PET techniques for the posttherapeutic response assessment of high-grade adult-type gliomas, focusing on ongoing clinical controversies in current practice. Discussed techniques that complement conventional MRI and aid the differentiation of recurrent tumor from posttreatment effects include DWI and diffusion-tensor imaging; perfusion MRI techniques including dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC), dynamic contrast-enhanced, and arterial spin labeling MRI; MR spectroscopy (MRS) including assessment of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) concentration; glucose- and amino acid (AA)-based PET; and amide proton transfer imaging. Updated criteria for the Response Assessment in Neuro-Oncology are presented.

Background: Accessibility to surgical services can impact earthquake preparedness and response. We aimed to estimate the population with timely access to surgical care in Guerrero, a Mexican state with high tectonic activity, and identify populations at risk in the event of an earthquake.
Methods: We conducted an ecological study using open government data.

Background: Pregnancies occurring after bariatric surgery are associated with various perinatal complications. However, there may be differences in the type of perinatal complications occurring after different methods of bariatric surgery. The aim of the current study was to compare adverse perinatal outcomes in pregnant women following Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB) vs.

The Manchester procedure is a classic native tissue prolapse technique with low recurrence and low complication rate. vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) is a vaginal approach to enter the intra or retroperitoneal space, with the guidance of endoscopic visualization. Different studies have shown women to prefer uterus-preserving correction of prolapse over hysterectomy, as they worry about complications, impact on sexual function and self- sense.

Background: Oxytocin is routinely administered after delivery for prophylaxis and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage, but it is associated with considerable cardiovascular side-effects. Carbetocin, a synthetic oxytocin analogue, has a myometrial contraction effect of 60 min when given IV, compared with 16 min for oxytocin.
Objective: To investigate whether there are differences in cardiovascular effects between oxytocin and carbetocin up to 1 h after treatment.

Objective: To study whether a revision of CTG guidelines and educational program influenced the perceived need for intervention by residents in obstetrics and gynecology. A secondary aim was to study the sensitivity and specificity of the classification pathological after classification by residents using two different guidelines in identifying neonates with acidemia.
Study Design: Cardiotocograms, CTGs, from 223 neonates with acidemia at birth (cord blood pH < 7.

Background: Umbilical cord blood gases are routinely used by midwives and obstetricians for quality assurance of birth management and in clinical research. They can form the basis for solving medicolegal issues in the identification of severe intrapartum hypoxia at birth. However, the scientific value of veno-arterial differences in cord blood pH, also known as ΔpH, is largely unknown.

Objective: To describe the perception of quality of maternal and newborn care (QMNC) around the time of childbirth among migrant and nonmigrant women in Europe.
Methods: Women who gave birth at a health facility in 11 countries of the WHO European Region from March 2020 to July 2021 were invited to answer an online questionnaire including demographics and childbirth experience. Data were analyzed and compared for 1781 migrant and 20 653 nonmigrant women.

Objective: To explore the quality of maternal and newborn care (QMNC) during the COVID-19 pandemic by facility type among 16 European countries, comparing rates of instrumental vaginal birth and cesarean.
Methods: Women who gave birth in the WHO European Region from March 1, 2020, to February 7, 2022, answered a validated online questionnaire. Rates of instrumental birth, instrumental vaginal birth, and cesarean, and a QMNC index were calculated for births in public versus private facilities.

Objective: To investigate potential associations between individual and country-level factors and medicalization of birth in 15 European countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: Online anonymous survey of women who gave birth in 2020-2021. Multivariable multilevel logistic regression models estimating associations between indicators of medicalization (cesarean, instrumental vaginal birth [IVB], episiotomy, fundal pressure) and proxy variables related to care culture and contextual factors at the individual and country level.
