Grid therapy recently has been picking momentum due to favorable outcomes in bulky tumors. This is being termed as Spatially Fractionated Radiation Therapy (SFRT) and lattice therapy. SFRT can be performed with specially designed blocks made with brass or cerrobend with repeated holes or using multi-leaf collimators where dosimetry is uncertain.

Importance: Vital signs are essential components in the triage of injured children. The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) physiologic criteria are frequently used for trauma assessments.
Objective: To evaluate the performance of ATLS and PALS criteria vs empirically derived criteria for identifying major trauma in children.

Delirium is common in hospitalised patients, and there is currently no specific treatment. Identifying and treating underlying somatic causes of delirium is the first priority once delirium is diagnosed. Several international guidelines provide clinicians with an evidence-based approach to screening, diagnosis and symptomatic treatment.

Neutrophil (PMN) tissue accumulation is an established feature of ulcerative colitis (UC) lesions and colorectal cancer (CRC). To assess the PMN phenotypic and functional diversification during the transition from inflammatory ulceration to CRC we analyzed the transcriptomic landscape of blood and tissue PMNs. Transcriptional programs effectively separated PMNs based on their proximity to peripheral blood, inflamed colon, and tumors.

Background: Electrical storm (ES) patients who fail standard therapies have a high mortality rate. Previous studies report effective management of ES with bedside, ultrasound-guided percutaneous stellate ganglion block (SGB). We report our experience with sympathetic blockade administered via a novel alternative approach: proximal intercostal block (PICB).

Castration resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is a challenging subset of prostate cancer associated with an extensive metastatic profile and high mortality. Ketoconazole is a nonselective steroid 17α-hydroxylase/17,20 lyase (CYP17A1) inhibitor and is employed as a second line treatment option for CRPC with an established efficacy profile in patients. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of ketoconazole containing regimens for CRPC in terms of prostate specific antigen (PSA) decline rate using a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Identification of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant glioma patients at high risk of early progression is critical for radiotherapy treatment planning. Currently tools to stratify risk of early progression are lacking. We sought to identify a combination of molecular markers that could be used to identify patients who may have a greater need for adjuvant radiation therapy machine learning technology.

Introduction: Subsolid nodules or those located deep in lung parenchyma are difficult to localize using minimally invasive thoracic surgery. While image-guided percutaneous needle localization has been performed, it is inconvenient and has potential complications. In this study, the role of chemical localization using robotic bronchoscopy to facilitate resection was evaluated.

Background: Social media use has grown across healthcare delivery and practice, with dramatic changes occurring in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The purpose of this study was to conduct a comprehensive systematic review to determine the current landscape of social media use by (1) orthopaedic surgery residencies/fellowship training programs and (2) individual orthopaedic surgeons and the change in use over time.
Methods: We searched 3 electronic databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase) from their inception to April 2022 for all studies that analyzed the use of social media in orthopaedic surgery.

Background: Research on variables associated with chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) resolution following middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) is limited. This study investigated the clinical utility of age-adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index (ACCI) and modified 5-item Frailty Index (mFI - 5) for predicting cSDH resolution following MMAE.
Methods: We identified patients who underwent MMAE at our institution between January 2018 and December 2022, with at least 20 days of follow-up and one radiographic follow-up study.

This Research Letter summarizes all updates to the 2019 Guidelines through September 2023, including: endorsement of the 2021 Opportunistic Infections guidelines for HIV+ or immunosuppressed patients; clarification of use of human papillomavirus testing alone for patients undergoing observation for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2; revision of unsatisfactory cytology management; clarification that 2012 guidelines should be followed for patients aged 25 years and older screened with cytology only; management of patients for whom colposcopy was recommended but not completed; clarification that after treatment for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2+, 3 negative human papillomavirus tests or cotests at 6, 18, and 30 months are recommended before the patient can return to a 3-year testing interval; and clarification of postcolposcopy management of minimally abnormal results.

Epilepsy surgery is the therapy of choice for many patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy. Recognizing and describing ictal and interictal patterns with intracranial electroencephalography (EEG) recordings is important in order to most efficiently leverage advantages of this technique to accurately delineate the seizure-onset zone before undergoing surgery. In this seminar in epileptology, we address learning objective "1.

Introduction: Image-guided spine injections are an important tool in the management of patients with a variety of spinal pathologies. Our practice offers radiologist-performed fluoroscopy-guided interlaminar cervical epidural steroid injection (ESI) routinely performed in the outpatient setting. The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinical outcomes and improvement in pain scores after radiologist-performed cervical ESI.

Purpose: This study aims to assess the accuracy of a modified electron beam calibration based on the IAEA TRS-398 and AAPM-TG-51 in multicenter radiotherapy.
Methods: This study was performed using the Elekta and Varian Linear Accelerator electron beams with energies of 4-22 MeV under reference conditions using cylindrical (PTW 30013, IBA FC65-G, and IBA FC65-P) and parallel-plate (PTW 34045, PTW 34001, and IBA PPC-40) chambers. The modified calibration used a cylindrical chamber and an updated based on Monte Carlo calculations, whereas TRS-398 and TG-51 used cylindrical and parallel-plate chambers for reference dosimetry.

Introduction: The pivotal study of the extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (EV ICD) recently demonstrated primary efficacy and safety endpoints comparable to previous ICD systems. Patient experience with this novel device has not been reported. The current study examined the standardized patient-reported outcome (PRO) metrics of quality of life (QOL) and patient acceptance of the device.

Elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) levels have been associated with poorer COVID-19 outcomes. While baseline CRP levels are higher in women, obese individuals, and older adults, the relationship between CRP, sex, body mass index (BMI), age, and COVID-19 outcomes remains unknown. To investigate, we performed a retrospective analysis on 824 adult patients with COVID-19 admitted during the first pandemic wave, of whom 183 (22.
