There is a need to better understand lipid metabolism during mosquito ovarian development. Lipids are the major source of energy supporting ovarian follicles development in mosquitoes. In this paper, we describe the complementary use of stable isotope labeling (SIL) and high-resolution mass spectrometry-based tools for the investigation of triglycerides (TG) and diglycerides (DG) during the ovarian previtellogenic (PVG) stage (4-6 days posteclosion) of female adult .

Eusociality in its various degrees represents an animal social system characterised by cooperative brood care, differentiation into castes and generational overlap. The fossil record indicates that eusociality is likely to have originated in hymenopterans and blattodeans during the Cretaceous. In this study, we present findings from surveys in Peruvian (Villa Carmen) and Ecuadorian (Rio Bigal, El Reventador) cloud forests revealing the first extant cockroach species living in complex, structured groups (n = 90-200 individuals, ˃ 20 adults).

The two ixodid tick species Dermacentor reticulatus (Fabricius) and Dermacentor silvarum Olenev occur at the northern distribution limit of the genus Dermacentor in Eurasia, within the belt of [Formula: see text] latitude. Whilst the distribution area of D. reticulatus extends from the Atlantic coast of Portugal to Western Siberia, that of D.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study found that 11.1% of I. ricinus ticks tested positive for pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Babesia microti, with some ticks showing mixed infections.
  • * Additionally, 10.1% of D. reticulatus ticks were positive for Rickettsia raoultii, highlighting the need for monitoring and understanding tick-borne diseases in urban settings.

Rodents are important reservoir hosts of many tick-borne pathogens. Their importance in the circulation of the emerging bacterial agent, Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis and the intraerythrocytic protozoan parasite, Babesia microti has been recently proposed. The aim of the present study was to identify the presence and genetic diversity of Candidatus N.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study in Eastern Slovakia (2011-2012) analyzed genetic variability of A. phagocytophilum in questing and feeding ticks, as well as rodent tissue samples, revealing a low prevalence in I. ricinus (0.7%) and higher in I. trianguliceps (15.2%).
  • * Findings indicated two distinct clades of A. phagocytophilum, suggesting specific host and vector associations, consistent with observations in the United Kingdom.
