Habitat translocation is a method of habitat salvation conducted in cases of its inevitable destruction during construction projects. To evaluate the large-scale turf translocation of wet meadows to derelict land, with consideration of the possible impact of the surrounding area on the translocated habitat, salvaged Molinion meadows were compared to reference meadows near the donor site and to varied plots in the receptor area. The study included the soil, vegetation and selected groups of invertebrates at different motility and food levels.

Rock weathering drives both landform formation and soil production/evolution. The less studied biological component of weathering and soil production caused by tree root systems is the main focus of the present study. Demonstrated limitations in the mineral and nutritional composition of refined flours have led to calls for the possibility of enriching them with health-promoting supplements, such as high-value non-cereal seeds. Teff and watermelon seeds have been found suitable for the production of gluten-free flour, but so far, their potential to enrich conventional baking flours has not been comprehensively studied. Hence, the present study aimed at farinographic evaluation of dough based on refined wheat flour with additions of whole white teff (TF) and watermelon seed (WSF) and pomace (DWSF) flours (tested levels 10%, 20%, and 30%), as well as possibly extensive chemical characterization of the plant material tested, including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, total phenolics, flavonoids, melatonin, and antioxidant potential.

The absolute configurations of the known but unusual spiro-flavostilbenoids found in the bark of Yucca schidigera Roezl ex Ortgies, were determined by applying time-dependent density functional theory simulation of electronic circular dichroism spectra. The absolute configurations obtained were as follows: (2S,3R) for yuccaol A, yuccaol D and yuccalide A; (2S,3S) for yuccaol B, yuccaol C and yuccaol E; (2S,3S,2'S,3'S) for gloriosaol A; (2S,3R,2'S,3'R) for gloriosaol C; (2S,3S,2'S,3'R) for gloriosaol D; (2S,3R,2'S,3'S) for gloriosaol E. These findings indicate that the compounds are all biosynthetic derivatives either of (2R)-naringenin and trans-resveratrol or of trans-3,3',5,5'-tetrahydroxy-4'-methoxystilbene.

The aim of this study was to determine the content of phytosterols, squalene, and tocopherols in four varieties of common buckwheat grains: Kora, Panda, Smuga, and Korona depending on the tillage and nitrogen doses employed.
