(1) Background: Excessive salt consumption is associated with an increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease, and it is essential to reduce it to the level recommended by the World Health Organization (<5 g/day). The main objective of this study is to verify the impact of an intervention, which used the Salt Control H equipment to reducing salt consumption; (2) Methods: The study was an 8-week randomized control trial with 114 workers from a public university. The intervention group ( = 57) used the equipment to monitor and control the use of salt during cooking (Salt Control H) at home for 8 weeks.

In this work, different amounts of CNFs were added into a complex formulation to coat the CFs surfaces via sizing in order to enhance the bonding between the fibre and the resin in the CF-reinforced polymer composites. Functionally graded material (FGM) based on Inconel 625 and AISI 431 stainless steel powders was produced by applying the direct laser deposition (DLD) process. The FGM starts with layers of Inconel 625 and ends with layers of 431 stainless steel having three intermediate zones with the composition (100-X)% Inconel 625-X% 431 stainless steel, X = 25, 50, and 75, in that order. This FGM was deposited on a 42CrMo4 steel substrate, with and without preheating.

The evolution of pelvic canal shape and rotational birth in humans.

Background: The human foetus typically needs to rotate when passing through the tight birth canal because of the complex shape of the pelvis. In most women, the upper part, or inlet, of the birth canal has a round or mediolaterally oval shape, which is considered ideal for parturition, but it is unknown why the lower part of the birth canal has a pronounced anteroposteriorly oval shape.

Results: Here, we show that the shape of the lower birth canal affects the ability of the pelvic floor to resist the pressure exerted by the abdominal organs and the foetus.

The transition to a sustainable society is paramount and requires the electrification of vehicles, the grid, industry, data banks, wearables, and IoT. Here, we show an all-solid-state structural battery where a Na-based ferroelectric glass electrolyte is combined with metallic electrodes/current collectors (no traditional cathode present at fabrication) and thin-ply carbon-fiber laminates to obtain a coaxial multifunctional beam. This new concept aims to optimize the volume of any hollow beam-like structure by integrating an electrochemical system capable of both harvesting thermal and storing electrical energy while improving its mechanical performance.
