Biologically active and nanoscale extracellular vesicles (EVs) participate in a variety of cellular physiological and pathological processes in a cell-free manner. Unlike cells, EVs not only do not cause acute immune rejection, but are much smaller and have a low risk of tumorigenicity or embolization. Because of their unique advantages, EVs show promise in applications in the diagnosis and treatment of reproductive disorders.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a potentially life-threating iatrogenic complication of the early luteal phase and/or early pregnancy after in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The aim of the current study was to identify the most effective methods for preventing of and reducing the incidence and severity of OHSS in IVF patients. A systematic review of systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with meta-analysis was used to assess each potential intervention (PROSPERO website, CRD 268626) and only studies with the highest quality were included in the qualitative analysis.

In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intra-cytoplasmatic sperm injection (ICSI) are available in Scotland through the National Health Service (NHS) according to specific criteria. There is no standardised NHS tariff for these treatments in Scotland, and variation exists amongst different centres providing NHS services. The aim of this study was to calculate the mean cost of IVF and ICSI cycles for NHS-funded treatment in Scotland.

4-Vinylcyclohexene diepoxide (VCD) is a hazardous industrial material which is widely used in the production of fragrances, rubber tires, antioxidants, pesticides, flame retardants and plasticizers. Previous studies have shown that exposure to VCD damages the female reproductive system, but the effects and mechanisms of VCD exposure on human granulosa cells are not reported. In this study, we used a human granulosa cell line (SVOG) to explore the effects of VCD exposure and found that VCD exposure had toxic effects on SVOG cells in vitro.

Background: Undernourishment in utero has deleterious effects on the metabolism of offspring, but the mechanism of the transgenerational transmission of metabolic disorders is not well known. In the present study, we found that undernourishment in utero resulted in metabolic disorders of female F1 and F2 in mouse model.
Results: Undernutrition in utero induced metabolic disorders of F1 females, which was transmitted to F2 females.

Background: Maternal diabetes compromises the quality and developmental potential of oocytes. Therefore, it is important to study how to ameliorate the adverse effects of diabetes on oocyte quality. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has a variety of physiological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-diabetes.

Background: The early onset of menopause is associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. As a woman's circulating anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) concentration reflects the number of follicles remaining in the ovary and declines towards the menopause, serum AMH may be of value in the early diagnosis and prediction of age at menopause.
Objective And Rationale: This systematic review was undertaken to determine whether there is evidence to support the use of AMH alone, or in conjunction with other markers, to diagnose menopause, to predict menopause, or to predict and/or diagnose premature ovarian insufficiency (POI).

For humans, ARTs (assisted reproductive technologies) have become the most effective method to treat subfertility/infertility in clinic. To obtain enough oocytes during ART, ovarian stimulation is performed by exogenous hormones, and some patients undergo several ovarian stimulation cycles. Although some adverse effects of ARTs on women and offspring are reported, few studies are focused on the effects of multiple superovulation on ovarian reserve.

Scope: Tea is a popular beverage worldwide and has many health functions. Protocatechuic acid (PCA) is an important bioactive component of tea and has benefit to health. In some cases, oocytes after ovulation may miss the optimal fertilization time and enter a postovulatory ageing process.

Objective: Asafoetida is a gum derived from Ferula assa-foetida, which is used in traditional Iranian medicine to treat some reproductive system disorders. The effects of asafoetida on ovarian tissue, expression of certain genes associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and levels of liver, kidney, and blood cell factors after treatment in a rat model were investigated.
Methods: Thirty rats were divided into five groups: normal, polycystic, and treatment with three doses of asafoetida (12.

4-vinylcyclohexene diepoxide (VCD), widely used in industry, is a hazardous compound that can cause premature ovarian failure, but whether maternal VCD exposure affects the health and reproduction of offspring is unknown. Here we focused on the effects of VCD on fertility and physical health of F1 and F2 offspring in mice. The pregnant mice were injected intraperitoneally with different dosages of VCD once every day from 6.

In vitro differentiation of stem cells into functional gametes remains of great interest in the biomedical field. Skin-derived stem cells (SDSCs) are an adult stem cells that provides a wide range of clinical applications without inherent ethical restrictions. In this paper, porcine SDSCs were successfully differentiated into primordial germ cell-like cells (PGCLCs) in conditioned media.

Objective: To explore the necessity of reception of sperm donors by full-time nurses in the sperm bank by analyzing the efficiency of sperm donation before and after staffing Guangdong Sperm Bank (GSB) with full-time nurses.
Methods: We selected 9 712 qualified sperm donors in GSB from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2021 and compared the efficiency of sperm donation before and after staffing GSB with full-time nurses.
Results: After staffing GSB with full-time nurses, the proportion of qualified sperm donors screened from the quasi-qualified ones was dramatically increased from 66.

Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) has proven characteristics of an endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC), which can threaten the reproductive health of humans and other animals. In mammals, a series of chromosomal events occur during the meiotic stage of oocytes. External toxins may enter the body and cause infertility and other related diseases.

Porcine skin-derived stem cells (pSDSCs) are a type of adult stem cells (ASCs) that retain the ability to self-renew and differentiate. Currently, pSDSCs research has entered an intense period of development; however there has been no research regarding methods of cryopreservation. In this paper, we explored an efficient cryopreservation method for pSDSCs.

The reproductive life span of females is largely determined by the number and quality of oocytes. Previously, we identified MEIOK21 as a meiotic recombination regulator required for male fertility. Here, we characterize the important roles of MEIOK21 in regulating female meiosis and oocyte number and quality.

Spermatogenesis is a highly coordinated and complex process, and is pivotal for transmitting genetic information between mammalian generations. In this study, we investigated the conservation, differences, and biological functions of homologous genes during spermatogenesis in Mongolia sheep, humans, cynomolgus monkey, and mice using single-cell RNA sequencing technology. We compared X chromosome meiotic inactivation events in Mongolia sheep, humans, cynomolgus monkey, and mice to uncover the concerted activity of X chromosome genes.

Maternal diabetes mellitus reduces oocyte quality, such as abnormalities of spindle assembly and chromosome segregation, mitochondrial dysfunction, decrease of fertilization rate, increase of ROS, and so on. So, it is important to research how to restore the decreased oocyte quality induced by maternal diabetes mellitus. Polyphenols are the most abundant bioactive components of green tea.

Unlabelled: follicle growth is a potential fertility preservation method for patients for whom current methods are contraindicated. Currently, this method has only been successful using fresh ovarian tissue. Since many patients who may benefit from this treatment currently have cryopreserved ovarian tissue in storage, optimising follicle growth (IVG) for cryopreserved-thawed tissue is critical.
