Research Question: Is intra-abdominal fat obesity associated with infertility?
Design: This study analysed data from the 2013-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, with a total of 3013 women enrolled. The participants were divided into two groups: infertility and non-infertility. Differences between the two groups were analysed using a weighted Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney U-test for continuous variables, or a weighted chi-squared test for categorical data.

Acephalic spermatozoa syndrome (ASS) is a severe teratospermia with decaudated, decapitated, and malformed sperm, resulting in male infertility. Nuclear envelope protein SUN5 localizes to the junction between the sperm head and tail. Mutations in the SUN5 gene have been identified most frequently (33-47%) in ASS cases, and its molecular mechanism of action is yet to be explored.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a significant complication during pregnancy that results in abnormalities in the function of multiple systems in the offspring, which include skeletal muscle dysfunction and reduced systemic metabolic capacity. One of the primary causes behind this intergenerational effect is the presence of mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress in the skeletal muscle of the offspring due to exposure to a high-glucose environment in utero. Cerium oxide (CeO) nanozymes are antioxidant agents with polymerase activity that have been widely used in the treatment of inflammatory and aging diseases.

The gonadotrope cells within the pituitary control vital processes of reproduction by producing follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Both external stimuli and internal regulatory factors contribute to the regulation of gonadotrope development and function. In recent years, growing evidences indicate that microRNAs (miRNAs), which regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally, play critical roles in multiple processes of gonadotrope development and function, including the syntheses of α or β subunits of FSH and LH, the secretion of LH, the regulation of GnRH signaling, and the maintenance of gonadotrope cell kinetics.

Infections and inflammatory reactions in the male genital tract are the leading causes of male infertility with a prevalence of 6%-10%, primarily affecting testicular and epididymal function and ultimately compromising sperm quality. However, most infertile patients with genital infection/inflammation are asymptomatic and easily overlooked. Traditional indicators, including white blood cells, elastase, and other components in semen, can reflect inflammation of the genital tract, but there is still a lack of a uniform standard method of detection.

Recent work has shown that besides inducing fusion genes, structural variations (SVs) can also contribute to oncogenesis by disrupting the three-dimensional genome organization and dysregulating gene expression. At the chromatin-loop level, SVs can relocate enhancers or silencers from their original genomic loci to activate oncogenes or repress tumor suppressor genes. On a larger scale, different types of alterations in topologically associating domains (TADs) have been reported in cancer, such as TAD expansion, shuffling, and SV-induced neo-TADs.

Age-related aneuploidy in human oocytes is a major factor contributing to decreased fertility and adverse reproductive outcomes. As females age, their oocytes are more prone to meiotic chromosome segregation errors, leading primarily to aneuploidy. Objective: With increasingly prevalent folic acid consumption in early pregnancy, concerns about its potentially negative effect on maternal metabolism have been raised. Recent findings regarding folic acid levels in the first trimester and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus have been inconclusive.
