European consensus statement on expert colposcopy.

Background: Following the publication of the European consensus statement on standards for essential colposcopy in 2020, the need for standards relating to more complex and challenging colposcopy practice was recognised. These standards relate to colposcopy undertaken in patients identified through cervical screening and tertiary referrals from colposcopists who undertake standard colposcopy only. This set of recommendations provides a review of the current literature and agreement on care for recognised complex cases.

The development of the cognitive vestibular function scale in the elderly complaints of imbalance: a study on validity and reliability.

Objectives: With a valid and reliable scale, it will make an important contribution to the assessment of cognitive functions such as spatial, spatial-visual, and memory functions, and raise awareness of older people with balance disorders. The purpose of this study is to develop a scale to assess vestibular and cognitive functions in the geriatric population with vestibular disorders and to evaluate its validity and reliability.

The Role of Trace Elements and Minerals in Osteoporosis: A Review of Epidemiological and Laboratory Findings.

The objective of the present study was to review recent epidemiological and clinical data on the association between selected minerals and trace elements and osteoporosis, as well as to discuss the molecular mechanisms underlying these associations. We have performed a search in the PubMed-Medline and Google Scholar databases using the MeSH terms "osteoporosis", "osteogenesis", "osteoblast", "osteoclast", and "osteocyte" in association with the names of particular trace elements and minerals through 21 March 2023. The data demonstrate that physiological and nutritional levels of trace elements and minerals promote osteogenic differentiation through the up-regulation of BMP-2 and Wnt/β-catenin signaling, as well as other pathways.

Myths, beliefs, and attitude toward cancer among the family caregivers of cancer patients: A community-based, mixed-method study in rural Tamil Nadu.

Background And Aim: Family support is one of the most crucial components of cancer care. The familial beliefs and myths associated with cancer can seriously affect the quality of life and treatment outcome of cancer patients. This study intends to explore the prevailing myths, beliefs, and attitude toward cancer among the family caregivers of cancer patients.

STUDY OF BONE RESORPTION AS A RISK FACTOR IN DENTAL IMPLANTATION IN PATIENTS WITH GENERALIZED PERIODONTITIS.

The method of dental implantation in patients with generalized periodontitis is one of the priority areas requiring in-depth study. The aim of the study was to increase the efficiency of dental implantation by developing methods for eliminating bone resorption in patients with generalized periodontitis. There were examined 240 patients with generalized periodontitis of I, II, III degree of development with partial adentia of the upper and lower jaws, who later underwent comprehensive periodontal treatment using dental implantation methods.

The concept of the comorbidity model in predicting laparoscopic cholecystectomy results in patients with acute cholecystitis.

In recent years, there has been an unceasing increase in the number of patients with acute cholecystitis, including those with a complicated course of the disease against the background of concomitant pathology. The aim of the study was to establish the level of comorbidity and its influence on the level of postoperative complications in patients with acute cholecystitis who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. We included 457 patients with acute cholecystitis with accompanying pathology, averaging 64.

Key success factors for the implementation of quality management systems in developing countries.

Background: Despite the tremendous progress made in advancing laboratory medicine in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), inadequate quality management systems (QMSs) remain a problem and barrier to provision of reliable laboratory services in resource-limited settings. Therefore, it is useful to study the experience of medical laboratories in LMICs that have successfully implemented QMS.

Aim: This review identified key success factors (KSFs) for medical laboratories in LMICs implementing QMS in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization standard 15189 as a pathway to improving laboratory quality.

Biomarkers of Drug Resistance in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy in Adults.

Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common type of focal epilepsy in adults. Experimental and clinical data indicate that neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration accompanying epileptogenesis make a significant contribution to the chronicity of epilepsy and the development of drug resistance in TLE cases. Changes in plasma and serum concentrations of proteins associated with neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration can be predictive biomarkers of the course of the disease.

Permissive hypercapnia and hypercapnic hypoxia inhibit signaling pathways of neuronal apoptosis in ischemic/hypoxic rats.

Introduction: In the present study, we aimed to test the hypothesis that hypercapnia, independently and/or in combination with hypoxia, can activate signaling pathways related to the inhibition of proapoptotic (caspase-dependent and caspase-independent) factors and the induction of antiapoptotic factors in facilitating adaptation to hypoxia/ischemia.

Materials And Methods: Following exposure to permissive hypercapnia and/or normobaric hypoxia, the degree of apoptosis was evaluated in experimental ischemia models in vivo and in vitro. The percentages of caspase-3, apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), Bax, and Bcl-2 in astrocytes and neurons derived from male Wistar rats were also calculated.

Background: Assessing the role of oxytocin (OT) in the regulation of social interaction is a promising area that opens up new opportunities for studying the mechanisms of developing autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Aim: To assess the correlation between the salivary OT level and age-related and psychopathological symptoms of children with intellectual disability (ID) and ASD.

Methods: We used the clinical and psychopathological method to assess the signs of ASD based on International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), the severity of ASD was specified by the selected Russian type version "Childhood Autism Rating Scale" (CARS).

Background: Novel oral poliovirus vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) was used to control an outbreak of type 2 circulating vaccine derived poliovirus (cVDPV2) in Tajikistan, in 2021. We measured seroconversion and seroprevalence of type 2 polio antibodies in children who were reported to have received two doses of nOPV2 in outbreak response campaigns.

Introduction: for the treatment of varicose ulcer performed clinical and laboratory reasoning of the use of ultrasonic-assisted venous ulcer debridement and Platelet-rich plasma with radiofrequency ablation in an outpatient setting, was carried out.

Methods: ultrasonic-assisted debridement of trophic ulcer were performed for 50 patients with lower extremity varicose veins at decompensation stage. The effectiveness of ultrasonic-assisted debridement was evaluated by indicators of bacteriological, morphological, cytological study and assessment of trophic ulcers according to the MEASURE system.

Obesity and osteoporosis are global health problems characterized by high rates of prevalence and mortality due to complications. As people with visceral obesity age, the adipogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) increases, and adipocytes become the predominant stromal cells in the bone marrow microenvironment, which hinders the physiological regeneration and mineralization of bone tissue. Primary and secondary osteoporosis remain severe progressive diseases.

Pathophysiological Mechanisms of Antipsychotic-Induced Parkinsonism.

Among neurological adverse reactions in patients with schizophrenia treated with antipsychotics (APs), drug-induced parkinsonism (DIP) is the most common motility disorder caused by drugs affecting dopamine receptors. One of the causes of DIP is the disruption of neurotransmitter interactions that regulate the signaling pathways of the dopaminergic, cholinergic, GABAergic, adenosinergic, endocannabinoid, and other neurotransmitter systems. Presently, the development mechanisms remain poorly understood despite the presence of the considered theories of DIP pathogenesis.

Spontaneous cessation of postpancreatectomy hemorrhage in a patient with celiac artery stenosis.

Postpancreatectomy hemorrhage (PPH) is a severe complication of pancreatic surgery. This condition often develops on the background of pancreatic fistula. In our report, we demonstrate an unusual case of spontaneous cessation of severe postpancreatectomy common hepatic artery (СHA) hemorrhage after distal pancreatectomy in a patient with celiac artery stenosis (CAS).

There are problems of postoperative relapse of veins after radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The study aims to analyze the causes of postoperative recurrence of veins after RFA. 928 patients with varicose veins of the lower extremities, clinical classes C-C according to the CEAP classification, were treated in the ambulatory surgery centers using RFA.

PersonaDrive: a method for the identification and prioritization of personalized cancer drivers.

Motivation: A major challenge in cancer genomics is to distinguish the driver mutations that are causally linked to cancer from passenger mutations that do not contribute to cancer development. The majority of existing methods provide a single driver gene list for the entire cohort of patients. However, since mutation profiles of patients from the same cancer type show a high degree of heterogeneity, a more ideal approach is to identify patient-specific drivers.

Hypercapnic hypoxia improves cognitive and motor functions of children with cerebral palsy.

A randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 42 patients between 3 and 7 years of age with spastic cerebral palsy was performed. For the treatment test group (n=22), daily respiratory exercises with hypercapnic hypoxia were performed using a Carbonic training apparatus for 20 minutes per day; a total of 14 to 16 sessions were performed. Before the start of the study and the day after training was completed, the patients underwent neurological and neurophysiological examinations (electroencephalography, magnetic stimulation of the pyramidal tract, and cognitive potentials Р300).

Ionized Blood Magnesium in Sick Children: An Overlooked Electrolyte.

Introduction: Magnesium is a less frequently monitored electrolyte in critically ill patients. Hypomagnesemia is associated with increased need for mechanical ventilation, mortality and prolonged ICU stay. The present study was undertaken to identify the proportion of children with abnormal magnesium levels and correlate it with disease outcome.

Effectiveness of emergency obstetric care training at the regional level in Ukraine: a non-randomized controlled trial.

Background: Emergency obstetric care training, using Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) International Program (AIP) was implemented in Ukraine, a country with universal access to skilled perinatal and obstetric care but restricted resources. A total of 577 providers (65.5% of total) from 28 maternal clinics attended a 5-day training session focused on the five main causes of maternal mortality, with hands-on skill workshops, pre- and post- tests, and an objective structured clinical examination.
