This study aimed to define the criteria for legal assessment of medical care violations. Today, medical incidents, particularly medical care violations, are not systematized and have no legal definitions. This complicates their legal assessment and does not allow for the necessary effectiveness of legal regulation of relations in the healthcare sector.

Article Synopsis
  • * It included 116 patients with pSS, assessing salivary flow rates, eye dryness, and psychological health using various patient-reported outcome measures like the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).
  • * Findings indicated lower resilience scores in patients experiencing recurrent parotitis, and those with both dry mouth and dry eyes, suggesting these factors, along with anxiety and depression, may negatively influence psychological resilience in pSS patients.

Division of Forensic Sciences, Institute of Postgraduate Education, Istanbul Medeniyet University, 34700 Istanbul, Turkey; Department of Chemistry, Istanbul Medeniyet University, 34700 Istanbul, Turkey. Electronic address:

This study represents a methodology to determine the falsified documents via a combined method of spectroscopic techniques and chemometrics. The techniques of UV-Vis and FTIR-ATR spectroscopies and principal component analysis methods have been applied to black, blue, and red ballpoint pens available in the Türkiye market. The analysis results of the applied spectroscopic techniques were found to be consistent with each other for the examined eleven ink samples from three different brands, and it was observed that FTIR-ATR spectroscopy had higher discriminative power.

According to the European Union (EU) Directive 2005/36, the medical specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) exists with two possible formats: dual degree OMFS called Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DOMFS) - basic medical and basic dental training and single medical degree Maxillofacial Surgery (MFS). Within the EU and across all of Europe, differences in the nature and quality of OMFS training coexist. By implementing the highest possible standards of training, patient care can be improved.

Peak expiratory flow, core performance and physical activity in normal-weight, overweight, and obese adolescents.

Clin Pediatr Endocrinol

June 2024

Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Atlas University, Istanbul, Turkey.

The objectives of this study were to (1) compare peak expiratory flow (PEF), physical activity (PA), and core performance among normal-weight, overweight, and obese adolescents and (2) explore the relationships between PEF, physical activity, core performance, and anthropometric measurements across these groups. Ninety adolescents aged 10-13 yr were categorized based on BMI: normal weight (n = 30, 5th to < 85th percentile, BMI-Z score -2 to < 1), overweight (n = 30, 85th to < 95th percentile, BMI-Z score 1 to < 2), and obese (n = 30, > 95th percentile, BMI-Z score > 2). PEF and percent-predicted values of PEF (PEF% pred) values were calculated.

Diastematomyelia is a rare congenital disorder characterized by the separation of the spinal cord by an osseocartilaginous or fibrous septum. While diastematomyelia has been reported to be more common in the thoracic and lumbar regions, the true incidence of cervical diastematomyelia is currently unknown. In this study, we conducted the most comprehensive systematic review to date of all other case reports of diastematomyelia to better characterize the incidence of cervical diastematomyelia and provide comprehensive statistics on the clinical characteristics of diastematomyelia generally.

Introduction: Factors such as coronavirus neurotropism, which is associated with a massive increase in pro-inflammatory molecules and neuroglial reactivity, along with experiences of intensive therapy wards, fears of pandemic, and social restrictions, are pointed out to contribute to the occurrence of neuropsychiatric conditions.

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of COVID-19 inflammation-related indices as potential markers predicting psychiatric complications in COVID-19.

Methods: A total of 177 individuals were examined, with 117 patients from a temporary infectious disease ward hospitalized due to COVID-19 forming the experimental group and 60 patients from the outpatient department showing signs of acute respiratory viral infection comprising the validation group.

Gomphocerus Thunberg, 1815 (Orthoptera, Acrididae, Gomphocerinae) is an interesting genus with clavate antennae, differing from the other genera by the pyriform (pear-shaped) anterior tibiae in the male and being represented by 17 taxa species-subspecies in the Palaearctic region. Anatolian species of this genus have not been adequately studied, and almost all of them are cold tolerance species and live in high mountain meadows. The previous studies indicate that the taxa belonging to Gomphocerus have some taxonomic problems in both Turkey and the Palaearctic region.

  • - Trichomoniasis is a parasitic sexually transmitted infection caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, and its diagnosis can be done using various methods, with direct microscopy being the quickest but least sensitive, while culture methods are more accurate but slower and resource-dependent.
  • - The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of conventional microscopic and culture methods against the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method for diagnosing T. vaginalis, as well as investigate gene polymorphisms thought to relate to metronidazole resistance in samples from 200 patients.
  • - Researchers collected vaginal swab samples from patients and tested them with multiple methods, finding that only 4% of the samples were positive for T. vaginalis with both culture/staining and

REPRESENTATION OF KIDNEY DAMAGE AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL IN PATIENTS WITH UROLITHIASIS BASED ON THE STUDY OF ENZYMATIC TEST INDICATORS.

Georgian Med News

November 2023

4Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Postgraduate Education, Zaporizhzhia State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Ukraine.

The aim of the work is to improve the results of early diagnosis of acute infectious kidney diseases at the molecular level in urolithiasis (urinary stone disease) through the study of enzymatic test indicators. Enzymatic tests (NGAL, IL-1β, β2-microglobulin) were investigated at the molecular level using the IFA method in the urine of patients with urolithiasis. Comparative and prognostic significance of the conducted treatment was established between the groups of patients, and an algorithm was developed based on the results of kidney damage predictors.
