Implementing and Evaluating Face-to-Face Near-Peer Teaching in Response to the Absence of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for Junior Medical Students Following the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the suspension of formative Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) at numerous institutions. This resulted in a significant gap in OSCE exposure for junior medical students, including those at our university. Drawing upon our prior experiences with OSCEs, we created a program to evaluate the effectiveness of near-peer teaching (NPT) in preparing third-year medical students to experience and succeed in OSCEs.

Basic Bronchoscopy Competence Achieved by a Nationwide One-day Simulation-based Training.

Background: In 2020, a mandatory, nationwide 1-day bronchoscopy simulation-based training (SBT) course was implemented for novice pulmonology residents in the Netherlands. This pretest-posttest study was the first to evaluate the effectiveness of such a nationwide course in improving residents' simulated basic bronchoscopy skills.

Methods: After passing a theoretical test, residents followed a 1-day SBT course, available in 7 centers, where they practiced their bronchoscopy skills step-by-step on a virtual reality simulator under pulmonologist supervision.

Background: Globally, many women express the desire to avoid immediate pregnancy for 24 months postdelivery, and only forty percent use contraceptives during this period. There is an enormous demand for postpartum family planning, particularly in developing countries with low- or middle-income grades. Postpartum intrauterine devices such as long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) are among the most effective methods of family planning in the immediate postpartum period, yet their effectiveness is hindered because of a lack of availability and training.

Effects of Media Literacy Intervention on Weight-Control Products Digital Marketing Targeting Adolescents.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a media literacy education intervention on adolescents' responses to digital marketing of weight-control products, focusing on media literacy, persuasion resistance efficacy, and purchase intention. Using a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 326 11th-grade students from a municipal high school in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, with 189 students in the intervention group and 137 in the comparison group. Conducted in 2023, the intervention group participated in baseline and follow-up assessments and attended four 50 min media literacy sessions, while the comparison group completed only baseline and follow-up assessments with standard instruction.

Objectives: This study investigates the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on HTAsiaLink members at the organizational level and provides recommendations for mitigating similar challenges in the future.

Methods: A survey was disseminated among HTAsiaLink members to assess the COVID-19 impact in three areas: (i) inputs, (ii) process, and (iii) outputs of the Health Technology Assessment organizations' (HTAOs) research operations and HTA process in general.

Background: Psychological phenomena such as impostor phenomenon (IP) and low work-related satisfaction increase the risk of burnout among medical professionals. The prevalence of these contributory risk factors among South Asian medical professionals has not been examined thus far. This study aims to assess the prevalence, severity and associations of IP, including self-reported satisfaction with training, in a cohort of postgraduate doctors in Sri Lanka.

To explore the overall effects of HBsAg on liver tissues from HBV transgenic mice, proteome, interactome, and signal pathway analysis were employed to uncover the underlying mechanisms. Bioinformatics analysis of 191 differentially expressed proteins suggested that HBV upregulated the expression of multiple enzymes involved in lipid synthesis, and small HBs (SHBs) caused lipid accumulation in cells.

Background: An eschar is not always present in all scrub typhus patients. Furthermore, such patients may present to tertiary care hospitals after administration of doxycycline. The present study aimed to determine the usefulness of using the swab from eschar sites in the diagnosis of scrub typhus in patients who present post-doxycycline therapy.
