Objectives: The aim of this non-interventional, multi-center, prospective, practice-based study was, firstly, to evaluate the longevity of composite build-ups in endodontically treated teeth, treated with root canal therapy (ETT), without post placement and secondly, to identify and analyze factors influencing the success of these reconstructions.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore how young adults with a history of dental trauma and restored teeth perceive their oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and orofacial esthetics, with a focus on gender-based differences.

Materials And Methods: This pilot study is a retrospective case-control study. Young adults experiencing dental trauma and consequently receiving dental treatment were asked to answer CPQ11-14, Oral Esthetic Scale (OES), and some complimentary questions concerning the esthetics of their teeth.

Oral human papillomavirus infections in Zambian Rural and Urban residents-a community cross-sectional study.

Background: How common it is with the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in the healthy and diseased oral cavity is largely unknown for Africans. In this cross-sectional study we assessed the prevalence of oral HPV and the risk factors associated with HPV contraction including sexual practice in the urban and rural Zambian population.

Methods: Urban (N = 188) and rural (N = 211) Zambian adults aged 21 years and older living in Ndola and Mansa, respectively, were interviewed about demographical data, oral and coital sexual history and tobacco and alcohol use.

Bone Substitute Material in the Surgical Therapy of Peri-Implantitis-3-Year Outcomes of a Randomized Controlled Trial.

Methods: A total of 120 subjects (127 implants) affected by peri-implantitis were followed over 3 years in a multicenter randomized clinical trial. Participants had been randomized to either control (access flap surgery) or test group (access flap surgery and bone substitute material).

A series of 3,5-benzylidene-4-piperidones, -, were prepared to evaluate the hypothesis that the placement of different groups in the ortho-location of the aryl rings led to compounds with greater cytotoxic potencies than structural analogs. The bioevaluation of - was undertaken using human Molt/4C8 and CEM cells as well as murine L1210 cells. Correlations were sought between the interplanar angles θ and θ and the cytotoxic potencies.

Jaw exercise in head and neck cancer patients for prevention of temporomandibular disorders: a randomized controlled trial.

Purpose: To prospectively evaluate the effect of a preventive jaw-training intervention program on the development of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in patients treated for head and neck cancer (HNC).

Methods: We randomized 58 consecutive patients with squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck area into two groups before initiation of a curatively intended oncologic treatment: training with a jaw mobilizer once a day or a control group without active exercise. A comprehensive examination according to diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD) was conducted at baseline (before oncologic treatment) 6 and 12 months after completed radiation therapy (RT).

Impact of Different Dental Implant Alloys and Coating Materials on the Health of Tissues Surrounding Implants: a Systematic Literature Review.

Objectives: Recently surface modification techniques have been introduced to dental implants to improve osseointegration, bone formation at the implant surface, and to reduce the occurrence of mucositis and peri-implantitis. The aim of this systematic literature review was to investigate the dependence of the risk of inflammation of the tissues surrounding the implant on different implant alloys and surface coating materials.

Objective: Individuals' Sense of Coherence (SOC) is measured with the Orientation to Life Questionnaire (OLQ-13). SOC reflects a person's orientation to life and ability to manage stress, which can impact health. The aim of the study was to test the reliability and construct validity of the OLQ-13, with self-reported general and oral health as criterion measures, in a Norwegian general adult population.
