Long noncoding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 (lncRNA MEG3) was down-regulated in pulmonary fibrosis of rats induced by Nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs), while the downstream regulatory mechanisms of MEG3 remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the relationship among MEG3, Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway and autophagy in pulmonary fibrosis caused by NiO NPs. The pulmonary fibrosis model in rats was constructed by intratracheal instillation of 0.

Aim: We aimed to explore the expression of miRNAs and their potential roles in the DNA damage response (DDR) induced by Cr (VI) exposure in human B lymphoblast cells (HMy2.CIR cells) and in a population of Cr (VI)-exposed humans.
Methods: Differentially expressed miRNAs were found by a combination of miRNA sequencing and RT-qPCR validation in HMy2.

Long noncoding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3) involves in fibrotic diseases, but its role in nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO NPs)-induced pulmonary fibrosis remains unclear. The present study aimed to explore the relationships among MEG3, transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway in NiO NPs-induced pulmonary fibrosis. Wistar rats were intratracheally instilled with NiO NPs twice a week for 9 weeks, and human lung adenocarcinoma epithelial cells (A549 cells) were exposed to NiO NPs for 24 h.

The TGF-β signaling pathway plays a pivotal role in controlling organogenesis during fetal development. Although the role of TGF-β signaling in promoting lung alveolar epithelial growth has been determined, mesenchymal TGF-β signaling in regulating lung development has not been studied in vivo due to a lack of genetic tools for specifically manipulating gene expression in lung mesenchymal cells. Therefore, the integral roles of TGF-β signaling in regulating lung development and congenital lung diseases are not completely understood.

Graphene oxide is a novel two-dimensional carbon nanomaterial, but it has potential risks for the health of occupationally exposed workers. This article briefly reviews the research progress on the cytotoxic mechanism of graphene oxide and its derivatives in terms of oxidative stress, physical damage and dysfunction of enzyme activity. This review also discusses effective measures for the mitigation of cytotoxicity in order to provide helpful evidence for occupational health risk and biological safety assessment of graphene nanomaterials in China.

Hexavalent Chromium [Cr (VI)] is an established toxicant, carcinogen, and a significant source of public health concern. The multicopy ribosomal DNA (rDNA) array is mechanistically linked to aging and cancer, is the most evolutionarily conserved segment of the human genome, and gives origin to nucleolus, a nuclear organelle where ribosomes are assembled. Here we show that exposure to Cr (VI) induces instability in the rDNA, triggering cycles of rapid, specific, and transient amplification and contraction of the array in human cells.

Cadmium (Cd) is a ubiquitous environmental and occupational pollutant that is considered as a high-risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases. However, the mechanism underlying Cd-induced neurotoxicity has not been fully elucidated. Abnormal mitochondrial distribution and excessive mitochondrial fission are increasingly implicated in various neurological pathologies.

To connect with the measurement data of asbestos dust fiber concentration in foreign countries, improve the accuracy of asbestos fiber detection in China, and understand the dust exposure in the working environment of asbestos and man-made mineral fiber production and processing sites in Zhejiang Province. The fiber count concentrations of working environment in glass fiber, ceramic fiber and asbestos processing plants were measured and compared. The dust concentration in the working environment of two glass fiber factories, one ceramic fiber factory and eight asbestos products processing factories was measured.

Hexavalent chromium [Cr (Ⅵ)] has extensive applications in industries, and long-term occupational exposure to Cr (Ⅵ) may lead to lung carcinoma and other cancers. While microRNA (miRNA) can take part in carcinogenesis, little is known about its expression profile in the population with Cr (Ⅵ) exposure. Thus, this study aimed to explore miRNA expression profiles in Cr (Ⅵ) exposed workers and to identify the potential biological function of differentially expressed miRNAs.

To understand the occupational health examination of graphene workers in a certain enterprise and provide evidence for occupational disease prevention and treatment. In September 2019, the physical examination data of 54 workers exposed to graphene dust in an occupational health examination of a graphene enterprise from January to August 2019 were collected, and the differences of various physical examination indexes of each group were examined by χ(2) test. The company had a total of 54 graphene workers, and 15 cases of occupational health examination abnormalities, and the abnormal rate was 27.

The presence of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) and chlorinated polyfluoroalkyl ether sulfonates (Cl-PFAESs) in humans has attracted great attention in recent decades. However, information on their exposure sources and the influence of age and gender on Cl-PFAES concentrations in human serum is still limited. In this study, eighty-five serum samples were collected from the general population in Anji, China, and analyzed for perfluoroalkyl carboxylates (PFCAs), perfluoroalkyl sulfonates (PFSAs), and Cl-PFAESs.

We aimed to provide a systematical evaluation of the performance of period analysis compared to traditional cohort and complete methods, using cancer registry data from Taizhou, eastern China. Overall, 5-year relative survival (RS) estimate was calculated using cohort analysis, complete analysis and period analysis, respectively; further analyses were stratified by sex, region, age at diagnosis and cancer sites. Deviation value (DV), defined as the deviation between the estimated 5-year RS obtained from each method and the observed actual survival, was calculated to evaluate the accuracy of each method.

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is a natural product with potential anti-cancer property whose direct target has not been identified. This study intended to investigate ERα36, a new isoform of estrogen receptor alpha (ERa), as a therapeutic target of EGCG in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this work, we examined the expression level of ERs in HCC cell lines and a normal human liver cell line, and evaluated inhibition effect of EGCG on these cells , and further on Hep3B .
