Effectiveness of patient education on the quality of life of patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has a considerable negative impact on quality of life (QoL) and represents a significant burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Although patient education (PE) programs are advocated as an integral component of comprehensive RA management, the magnitude and sustainability of their QoL benefits remain unclear. This meta-analysis seeks to assess the efficacy of PE interventions in enhancing QoL among RA patients.

Needs led research: ensuring relevant research in two PhD projects within maternity care.

Background: There has been a growing concern regarding research waste and the mismatch between conducted research and the research needs of knowledge users. The Needs Led Research (NLR) approach is proposed as an effective method to ensure that research address actual evidence gaps that are relevant to the users of the knowledge. By search and reviewing literature and involving knowledge users, NLR aims to identify, verify, and prioritize research needs.

Learning and achieving basic mental health competence in placement studies with the support of a tool: A qualitative study of student nurses' experiences.

Background: Learning basic mental health care competence is often challenging for the bachelor of science student nurses, and many lack basic mental health care competence to ensure safe and confident mental health care practice. Mental health assessment is an integrated part of this competence.

Objective: The objective of this study was to explore and describe in depth how student nurses experience learning and achieving basic mental health competence while on mental health placement with the support of a learning tool.

Investigating the Associations between Patient-Reported Quality of Care and Perceived Coercion: A Norwegian Cross-Sectional Study.

Patient perspectives on the quality of care received are fundamental to mental health care. This study aimed to investigate the association between patient-reported mental health care quality, perceived coercion, and various demographic, clinical, and ward-related factors. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 169 patients in Norwegian mental health wards using the quality in psychiatric care-inpatient (QPC-IP) instrument and experienced coercion scale (ECS).

Detecting and preventing child maltreatment in primary care and PHNs' role-a cross-sectional study.

Background: Child maltreatment is a global problem that puts children at risk of mental illness, substance abuse, and premature death. Interdisciplinary collaboration is important in preventing and detecting child maltreatment. In Norway, children undergo universal preventive health assessments and receive complimentary follow-up care from specialized public health nurses in child and family health clinics.

Older people's experiences of vulnerability in a trust-based welfare society affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The early coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak inflicted vulnerability on individuals and societies on a completely different scale than we have seen previously. The pandemic developed rapidly from 1 day to the next, and both society and individuals were put to the test. Older people's experiences of the early outbreak were no exception.

Outpatient labor induction-Exploring future potential by assessing eligibility in a historical cohort.

Introduction: Labor induction rates have increased over the last decades, and in many high-income countries, more than one in four labors are induced. Outpatient management of labor induction has been suggested in low-risk pregnancies to improve women's birth experiences while also promoting a more efficient use of healthcare resources. The primary aim of this paper was to assess the proportion of women in a historical cohort that would have been eligible for outpatient labor induction with oral misoprostol.

'A Story of Being Invisible': A Single Case Study on the Significance of Being Recognised When Needing Acute Healthcare in the Early COVID-19 Pandemic.

Severe illness is often an existential threat that triggers emotions like fear, stress, and anxiousness. Such emotions can affect ill patients' encounters with healthcare personnel. We present a single case study of an older woman who contracted COVID-19 and her challenge to be recognised by healthcare personnel in the early pandemic.

Assessment of exposure to perfluorinated industrial substances and risk of immune suppression in Greenland and its global context: a mixed-methods study.

Background: Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are ubiquitous global contaminants that do not readily biodegrade and are therefore routinely found worldwide in wildlife, humans, and the environment. There is a paucity of global assessments to understand regional and continental differences in exposure to PFASs and the associated health risks, including those for Indigenous Arctic communities who consume high trophic marine diets. We aimed to estimate the long-term exposure of dietary PFASs from consumption of polar bear and ringed seal meat and establish its association with blood serum concentrations of PFASs in Inuit in Ittoqoortoormiit (Scoresby Sound), East Greenland.

A qualitative study of public health nurses' experiences detecting and preventing child maltreatment in primary care settings.

Aim: To explore how public health nurses in child and family health centres experience detecting and preventing child maltreatment.

Design: Qualitative study.

Methods: Fourteen semi-structured individual interviews with public health nurses who worked in 11 different child and family health centres were conducted.

Background: Healthcare assistants working in hospice at home settings have a pivotal role in supporting people dying at home and their family caregivers. Some healthcare assistants are working alone in patients' homes, which magnifies some of the issues reported for those working closely with other team members. There is a dearth of evidence in terms of education, training and support needs for healthcare assistants when working alone.

Adaption and Cultural Validation of the Quality in Psychiatric Care-Outpatient Staff (QPC-OPS) Instrument to a Norwegian Community Mental Health Context.

The aim was to culturally adapt and validate the Swedish Quality in Psychiatric Care-Outpatient Staff (QPC-OPS) instrument for use in a Norwegian community mental health service context. The translated and culturally adapted instrument was named Quality in Psychiatric Care-Community Outpatient Staff (QPC-COPS). Three expert panels of mental health staff (n = 9) assessed the face and content validity.

Older patients' perspectives on illness and healthcare during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Equal access to healthcare is a core principle in Norway's public healthcare system. The COVID-19 pandemic challenged healthcare systems in the early phase - in particular, related to testing and hospital capacity. There is little knowledge on how older people experienced being infected with an unfamiliar and severe disease, and how they experienced the need for healthcare early in the pandemic.

Internationally, it is recognized that artists facilitate arts engagement with individuals with palliative care needs. There is a gap in the literature describing the range and scope of artists' professional practices in palliative care. The aim of this study was to examine an international range of professional practices among artists who work in palliative care including key professionals' perceptions of these practices.

Novice nurses' mental health assessment practice is characterised by lack of consistency, despite mental health assessment being a core issue in professional nursing and patient safety across health services. This study aimed to identify mental health signs relevant for an assessment tool suitable for student and novice nurses. A document analysis approach was applied, and content analysis was used to analyse data extracted from carefully selected documents.

Arts engagement facilitated by artists with individuals with life-limiting illness: A systematic integrative review of the literature.

Background: Living with life-limiting illness significantly impacts quality of life. A growing body of evidence suggests that arts engagement facilitated by artists promotes well-being. However, no synthesis of the literature exists to describe arts engagement delivered by artists with individuals receiving palliative care.

Magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity ultrasound (MR-HIFU) in the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids - five-year experience.

Objectives: Uterine fibroids (UF) are the most common benign tumors of the female reproductive organ. It is crucial to recognize that the appropriate treatment of UFs requires an individualized approach. The present paper aimed at the presentation of the five-year experience of our center in the treatment of UFs with the use of magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity ultrasound (MR-HIFU) therapy.

The Development and Initial Validation of a Short, Self-Report Measure on Social Inclusion for People with Intellectual Disabilities-A Transnational Study.

Sport has been promoted as a means of increasing the social inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities. Suitable tools for evaluating this claim are not readily available. The aim of this study was to develop a self-report tool for use by people with intellectual disabilities regarding the social inclusion they experience in sport and in the community.

Cross-Cancer Genome-Wide Association Study of Endometrial Cancer and Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Identifies Genetic Risk Regions Associated with Risk of Both Cancers.

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests a relationship between endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. Independent genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer have identified 16 and 27 risk regions, respectively, four of which overlap between the two cancers. We aimed to identify joint endometrial and ovarian cancer risk loci by performing a meta-analysis of GWAS summary statistics from these two cancers.

Patient experience studies in the circumpolar region: a scoping review.

Objectives: Patient experiences with health systems constitute a crucial pillar of quality care. Across the Arctic, patients' interactions with the healthcare system are influenced by challenges of access, historical inequities and social determinants. This scoping review sought to describe the range and nature of peer-reviewed literature on patient experience studies conducted within the circumpolar region.
