The fluoride-bridged systems were designed to achieve perfect tetragonal symmetry by combining four-fold symmetric lanthanide and transition metal building blocks. A 2D cyanido-bridged architecture Zn-[W(CN)] is smoothly pillared by ,'-di-(4-pyridyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxydiimide (4DPNDI) into 3D hybrid porous coordination polymer (PCP) {ZnII3(DMA)[W(CN)](4DPNDI)·8DMA}. It shows significant uptake of HO, MeOH or CHCl vapours with easy regeneration to the native form, and breathing-type CO adsorption contrasting non-porosity towards N, providing a new example of a highly flexible porous material.

We report a measurement of exclusive J/ψ and ψ(2s) photoproduction in Au+Au ultraperipheral collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200  GeV using the STAR detector. For the first time, (i) the ψ(2s) photoproduction in midrapidity at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider has been experimentally measured; (ii) nuclear suppression factors are measured for both the coherent and incoherent J/ψ production. We show, for the first time, radio measurements of the depth of shower maximum (X_{max}) of air showers induced by cosmic rays that are compared to measurements of the established fluorescence method at the same location. Using measurements at the Pierre Auger Observatory we show full compatibility between our radio and the previously published fluorescence dataset, and between a subset of air showers observed simultaneously with both radio and fluorescence techniques, a measurement setup unique to the Pierre Auger Observatory. Furthermore, we show radio X_{max} resolution as a function of energy and demonstrate the ability to make competitive high-resolution X_{max} measurements with even a sparse radio array.

Following the publication of the joint The International Commissions on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) and on Radiological Protection (ICRP) report on new operational quantities for radiation protection, the European Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) have carried out an initial evaluation. The EURADOS report analyses the impact that the new quantities will have on: radiation protection practice; calibration and reference fields; European and national regulation; international standards and, especially, dosemeter and instrument design. The task group included experienced scientists drawn from across the various EURADOS working groups.

The influence of 1.9 MeV proton irradiation on structural and magnetic properties has been explored in the two-dimensional (2D) NiSO(1,3-phenylenediamine) coordination ferrimagnet. We report on measurements of sequential ϒ suppression in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200  GeV with the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) through both the dielectron and dimuon decay channels. In the 0%-60% centrality class, the nuclear modification factors (R_{AA}), which quantify the level of yield suppression in heavy-ion collisions compared to p+p collisions, for ϒ(1S) and ϒ(2S) are 0.40±0.

We report the beam energy and collision centrality dependence of fifth and sixth order cumulants (C_{5}, C_{6}) and factorial cumulants (κ_{5}, κ_{6}) of net-proton and proton number distributions, from center-of-mass energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) 3 GeV to 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Cumulant ratios of net-proton (taken as proxy for net-baryon) distributions generally follow the hierarchy expected from QCD thermodynamics, except for the case of collisions at 3 GeV. The measured values of C_{6}/C_{2} for 0%-40% centrality collisions show progressively negative trend with decreasing energy, while it is positive for the lowest energy studied.

Instantons, which are nonperturbative solutions to Yang-Mills equations, provide a signal for the occurrence of quantum tunneling between distinct classes of vacua. They can give rise to decays of particles otherwise forbidden. Using data collected at the Pierre Auger Observatory, we search for signatures of such instanton-induced processes that would be suggestive of super-heavy particles decaying in the Galactic halo.

Two dinuclear copper(II) complexes with macrocyclic Schiff bases and were prepared by the template reaction of ()-(+)-1,1'-binaphthalene-2,2'-diamine and 2-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,3-benzenedicarboxaldehyde , or 4--butyl-2,6-diformylphenol with copper(II) chloride dihydrate. The compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods. X-ray crystal structure determination and DFT calculations confirmed their geometry in solution and in the solid phase.

Elliptic flow measurements from two-, four-, and six-particle correlations are used to investigate flow fluctuations in collisions of U+U at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193  GeV, Cu+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200  GeV and Au+Au spanning the range sqrt[s_{NN}]=11.5-200  GeV. The measurements show a strong dependence of the flow fluctuations on collision centrality, a modest dependence on system size, and very little if any, dependence on particle species and beam energy.

The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) was investigated in highly anisotropic single crystals of two single molecule magnets (SMMs): [Ln(ZnL)]CFSO, where Ln = Tb, Dy and L = tripodal hexadentate Schiff base ligand. The structure of these paramagnetic compounds consists of identically oriented linear trinuclear clusters in a trigonal system with an easy direction c∥Zn-Ln-Zn array and a hard plane ab⊥Zn-Ln-Zn array. The magnitude of MCE measured for c∥H was significantly greater than MCE for ab∥H at a wide temperature range regardless of the studied SMM.

The Maastro Proton Therapy Centre is the first European facility housing the Mevion S250i Hyperscan synchrocyclotron. The proximity of the accelerator to the patient, the presence of an active pencil beam delivery system downstream of a passive energy degrader and the pulsed structure of the beam make the Mevion stray neutron field unique amongst proton therapy facilities. This paper reviews the results of a rem-counter intercomparison experiment promoted by the European Radiation Dosimetry Group at Maastro and compares them with those at other proton therapy facilities.

Studies on molecular co-crystal type materials are important in the design and preparation of easy-to-absorb drugs, non-centrosymmetric, and chiral crystals for optical performance, liquid crystals, or plastic phases. From a fundamental point of view, such studies also provide useful information on various supramolecular synthons and molecular ordering, including metric parameters, molecular matching, energetical hierarchy, and combinatorial potential, appealing to the rational design of functional materials through structure-properties-application schemes. Co-crystal salts involving anionic -metallate coordination complexes are moderately explored (compared to the generality of co-crystals), and in this context, we present a new series of isomorphous co-crystalline salts (PPh)[M(CN)](HPG)·2MeCN (M = Cr, ; Fe, ; Co ; HPG = phloroglucinol, 1,3,5-trihydroxobenzene).
