The selective Au deposition at the Au-substrate interface is known to give ultrathin Au nanowires and the synthesis usually employs strong thiol-based ligands. It is shown that, by increasing the rate of Au deposition, weak cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) can be made to behave like a strong ligand, so that it induces Active Surface Growth and gives Au nanowires. The ligand strength also depends on the packing interactions in the ligand layer, in the order of CTAB, CTAB, and CTAB.

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) inhibitors are promising for treating tumors but have limited efficacy due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. In this study, we develop an orchestrated nanoparticle system using modular peptide assemblies, where the co-assembled sequences are designed for the specific binding to the hydrophobic and hydrophilic domains, guiding the assembly process and enabling the customization of nanoparticle properties. We exploit the modularity of this platform to integrate a hydrophobic ferroptosis precursor, an IDO1 inhibitor, and a hydrophilic peptidic PD-L1 antagonist for optimizing therapeutic outcomes through ferroptosis-enhanced tumor immunotherapy.

Quantum Simulation of Partial Differential Equations via Schrödingerization.

We present a novel new way-called Schrödingerization-to simulate general (quantum and nonquantum) systems of linear ordinary and partial differential equations (PDEs) via quantum simulation. We introduce a new transform, referred to as the warped phase transformation, where any linear-including nonautonamous-system of ordinary or partial differential equation can be recast into a system of Schrödinger's equations, in real time, in a straightforward way. This approach is not only applicable to PDEs for classical problems but is also useful for quantum problems, including the preparation of quantum ground states and Gibbs thermal states, the simulation of quantum states in random media in the semiclassical limit, simulation of Schrödinger's equation in a bounded domain with artificial boundary conditions, and other non-Hermitian physics.

Crystal structures and photophysical properties of mono- and dinuclear Zn complexes flanked by tri-ethyl-ammonium.

Two new zinc(II) complexes, tri-ethyl-ammonium di-chlorido-[2-(4-nitro-phen-yl)-4-phenyl-quinolin-8-olato]zinc(II), (CHN){Zn(CHNO)Cl] (), and bis-(tri-ethyl-ammonium) {2,2'-[1,4-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolato}bis-[di-chlorido-zinc(II)], (CHN)[Zn(CHNO)Cl] (), were synthesized and their structures were determined using ESI-MS spectrometry, H NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the ligands 2-(4-nitro-phen-yl)-4-phenyl-quinolin-8-ol () and ,'-bis-(2-hy-droxy-benzyl-idene)benzene-1,4-di-amine () were deprotonated by tri-ethyl-amine, forming the counter-ion EtNH, which inter-acts an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond with the ligand. The Zn atoms have a distorted trigonal-pyramidal () and distorted tetra-hedral () geometries with a coord-ination number of four, coordinating with the ligands N and O atoms.

The ancient cemetery of Pommerœul, Belgium, was classified as Gallo-Roman in the 1970s', yielding 76 cremation graves and one inhumation. However, subsequent radiocarbon analyses dated the inhumation to the Late Neolithic (4-3 millennium calBC). We report osteoarchaeological analysis indicating that the inhumation was composed of bones from multiple individuals, afterwards buried as "one".

The heterogeneous catalysis of the composite membrane not only exerts the synergistic effect of different materials but also enable the recyclable use of catalysts, making it an ideal and sustainable strategy for removing pollutants in water. In this study, a novel black phosphorus/graphene/titanium dioxide (BP/GR/TiO) membrane was successfully prepared through the sol-gel method. The composite membrane not only overcame the instability of black phosphorus and the rapid recombination of e/h pairs in titanium dioxide but also synergized with GR to produce a new reactive oxygen species (ROS), singlet oxygen (O), with a longer lifetime and migration distance.

Flow Matching for Optimal Reaction Coordinates of Biomolecular Systems.

We present flow matching for reaction coordinates (FMRC), a novel deep learning algorithm designed to identify optimal reaction coordinates (RC) in biomolecular reversible dynamics. FMRC is based on the mathematical principles of lumpability and decomposability, which we reformulate into a conditional probability framework for efficient data-driven optimization using deep generative models. While FMRC does not explicitly learn the well-established transfer operator or its eigenfunctions, it can effectively encode the dynamics of leading eigenfunctions of the system transfer operator into its low-dimensional RC space.

Hydroxylamine, nitrous acid, and nitric oxide are obligate intermediates or side metabolites in different nitrogen-converting microorganisms. These compounds are unstable and susceptible to the formation of highly reactive nitrogen species, including nitrogen dioxide, dinitrogen trioxide, nitroxyl, and peroxynitrite. Due to the high reactivity and cytotoxicity, the buildup of reactive nitrogen can affect the interplay of microorganisms/microbial processes, stimulate the reactions with organic compounds like organic micropollutants (OMP) and act as the precursors of nitrous oxide (NO).
