Mental health disorders emerge from complex interactions among neurobiological processes across multiple scales, which poses challenges in uncovering pathological pathways from molecular dysfunction to neuroimaging changes. Here, we proposed a multiscale fusion (mFusion) method to evaluate the relevance of each gene to the neuroimaging traits of mental health disorders. We combined gene-neuroimaging associations with gene-positron emission tomography (PET) and PET-neuroimaging associations using protein-protein interaction networks, where various genes traced by PET maps are involved in neurotransmission.

PARP inhibitors (PARPi) have received regulatory approval for the treatment of several tumors, including prostate cancer (PCa), and demonstrate remarkable results in the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients characterized by defects in homologous recombination repair (HRR) genes. Zebrafish larvae are used to model the pathogenesis of multiple bacteria. This transparent model offers the unique advantage of allowing quantification of fluorescent bacterial burdens (fluorescent pixel counts [FPC]) by facile microscopical methods, replacing enumeration of bacteria using time-intensive plating of lysates on bacteriological media. Accurate FPC measurements require laborious manual image processing to mark the outside borders of the animals so as to delineate the bacteria inside the animals from those in the culture medium that they are in.
