Background And Aims: Computer-aided detection software (CADe) has shown promising results in real-time polyp detection, but a limited head-to-head comparison of the available CADe systems has been performed. Moreover, such systems have not been compared to endoscopists using standardized videos. This study aims to compare the performance of three CADe systems in detecting polyps, employing a novel standardized methodology.

Article Synopsis
  • Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare but serious condition with a median survival of about 7 years, and current treatments mainly relieve symptoms without addressing the disease itself.
  • CS1 is a new oral treatment based on valproic acid, which may offer multiple therapeutic benefits, including reducing lung pressure and reversing vascular issues associated with PAH.
  • A Phase 1 study showed CS1 is safe and well-tolerated, and a current Phase 2 trial is assessing its effects on various health outcomes to inform future studies and potential wider use.

Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMV) have gained attention as a promising new cancer vaccine platform for efficiently provoking immune responses. However, OMV induce severe toxicity by activating the innate immune system. In this study, we applied a simple isolation approach to produce artificial OMV that we have named Synthetic Bacterial Vesicles (SyBV) that do not induce a severe toxic response.

The cJun N-terminal Kinases (JNK) emerged as a major link between obesity and insulin resistance, but their role in the loss of pancreatic β-cell mass and function driving the progression from insulin resistance to type-2 diabetes and in the complications of diabetes was not investigated to the same extent. Furthermore, it was shown that pan-JNK inhibition exacerbates kidney damage in the db/db model of obesity-driven diabetes. Here we investigate the role of JNK1 in the db/db model of obesity-driven type-2 diabetes.

Aim: Insulin sensitivity is ~40% lower in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) than in controls. We tested the hypothesis that 5 weeks of electroacupuncture treatment improves glucose regulation and androgen levels in overweight/obese women with PCOS.

Material And Methods: Seventeen women with PCOS, aged 18 to 38 years, with a body mass index (BMI) ≥25 kg/m and diagnosed with PCOS were included in this experimental and feasibility study and subjected to five weeks of electroacupuncture treatments three times/week.

Several Butyrophilin (BTN) and Btn-like (BTNL) molecules control T lymphocyte responses, and are genetically associated with inflammatory disorders and cancer. In this study, we present a comprehensive expression analysis of human and murine and genes in conditions associated with intestinal inflammation and cancer. Using real-time PCR, expression of human and genes was analyzed in samples from patients with ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and colon tumors.
