Unlabelled: Anthropometry of the penis holds significant cultural and clinical importance, reflecting male genital development and aiding in the early identification of abnormalities.
Objectives: To develop an age-related penile length nomogram for Indian children, to define a range of normalcy, and to develop age-matched controls for penile length assessment in managing conditions like hypospadias.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study (Design) initiated post-Institute Ethics Committee clearance (Ethics) based on 1276 volunteers (boys) aged 1-14 years (Participants) presenting to a pediatric surgery clinic (Setting) for conditions not affecting penile length.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is a rare but preventable cause of acute hepatic dysfunction which is associated with significant mortality, unless treated appropriately. There are significant regional variations in the etiologies of ALF globally and this determines the outcomes of the disease as well as the long-term survival in patients receiving liver transplantation for management. Improvements in understanding of disease pathophysiology and critical care medicine have led to better outcomes over the last few decades.

Infections in acute liver failure (ALF) increase the associated morbidity and mortality, and often hamper the possibility of transplantation. Two-thirds of the infections in ALF are bacterial while one-third is fungal. High suspicion for infection is essential whenever there is clinical deterioration.

Background: Adhesive capsulitis is a distressing ailment that progressively limits the active and passive mobility of the shoulder joint. Physical therapy (PT) combined with intra-articular steroid (IAS) injection and suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) has shown improved functional outcomes. We aimed to assess whether providing both IAS injection and SSNB improved outcomes compared with IAS injection alone.

Aims: Chronic pain is a critical public health issue that severely impacts quality of life and poses significant treatment challenges, particularly due to the risk of adverse effects associated with pharmacological therapies. The search for effective non-invasive treatment alternatives has become increasingly relevant. Low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) has been identified as an effective non-invasive strategy for pain management, although the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Phage-based decontamination has rarely been explored in real-world settings, particularly in the environments of patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This four-year prospective study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of aerosolized phage cocktails tailored to combat target antibiotic-resistant species of Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. The decontamination procedure with phage aerosols was proactively implemented before the admission of ECMO patients based on a thorough analysis of phage typing results from bacterial species isolated from prospective patient areas during the preceding two months.

Xylose, a key constituent of the heterogeneous hemicellulose polymer, occurs in lignocellulosic biomass and forms xylan polymers through β-1,4 glycosidic linkages. The β-1,4-xylosidase enzyme was isolated from Pseudopedobacter saltans (PsGH43) to find an effective enzyme with enhanced activity to depolymerize xylo-oligosaccharides. β-1,4-xylosidase belongs to the GH43 family as classified in the Carbohydrate-Active Enzyme Database (CAZy).

The Ras GTPase-activating protein SH3-domain-binding protein 1 (G3BP1) serves as a formidable barrier to viral replication by generating stress granules (SGs) in response to viral infections. Interestingly, viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, have evolved defensive mechanisms to hijack SG proteins like G3BP1 for the dissipation of SGs that lead to the evasion of the host's immune responses. Previous research has demonstrated that the interaction between the NTF2-like domain of G3BP1 (G3BP1) and the intrinsically disordered N-terminal domain (NTD-N) of the N-protein plays a crucial role in regulating viral replication and pathogenicity.

A fraction of patients (approximately 10%) undergoing heart transplantation require permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation due to sinus node dysfunction or atrioventricular block, occurring either shortly after surgery or later. The incidence of PPM implantation has declined to less than 5% with the introduction of bicaval anastomosis transplantation surgery. Pacing dependency during follow-up varies among recipients.

Acute exacerbations of COPD (ECOPD) are an important event in the life of a COPD patient as it causes significant deterioration of physical, mental, and social health, hastens disease progression, increases the risk of dying and causes a huge economic loss. Preventing ECOPD is therefore one of the most important goals in the management of COPD. Before the patient is discharged after hospitalization for ECOPD, it is crucial to offer an evidence-based care bundle protocol that will help minimize the future risk of readmissions and death.
