The in vitro activity of IMB-XMA0038, a novel inhibitor targeting Mycobacterial tuberculosis (Mtb) aspartate semialdehyde dehydrogenase, was evaluated. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of IMB-XMA0038 were against 20 Mtb isolates, including H37Rv (ATCC 27294), ten clinical pan-sensitive isolates, and nine clinical multidrug-resistant (MDR) isolates. In addition, minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) were also determined against the H37Rv and 6 MDR isolates (the background information is same as above in order).

Objectives: To improve the expression efficiency of recombinant hFIX, by enhancing its γ-carboxylation, which is inhibited by Calumenin (CALU), we used intronic artificial microRNAs (amiRNAs) for the CALU downregulation.
Methods: Two human CALU (hCALU)-specific amiRNAs were designed, validated and inserted within a truncated form of the hFIX intron 1, in either 3'- or 5'-untranslated regions of the hFIX cDNA, in an expression vector. After transfections of a human cell line with the recombinant constructs, processing of the miRNAs confirmed by RT-PCR, using stem-loop primers.

Methods: This prospective single-center study enrolled 200 HD patients and 82 healthy subjects to estimate antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 viral spike protein 1 and receptor-binding domain after a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (ChAdOx1 or mRNA-1273), measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and applied spline-based generalized additive model regression analysis to predict NT converted to international units.

This study was based on in vivo assessment of bone regeneration capacity of synthesized porous β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) nanocomposite granules and aimed to explore the effects of fabricated β-TCP granules reinforced with layered double hydroxides (LDH) nanoclay compared to β-TCP granules, in terms of osteoconductivity and biodegradability. Granules with diameters of 2-3 mm were implanted into cavities drilled in rabbit distal femur and were left in situ for up to 3 months. The mechanical study demonstrated that the presence of LDH nanoparticles in β-TCP granules resulted in a significant increase in compressive modulus from 174.
