Six new oligostilbenes, carastilphenols A-E (1-5) and (-)-hopeachinol B (6), with three reported oligostilbenes were obtained from the stems of Caragana sinica. The structures of compounds 1-6 were determined by comprehensive spectroscopy analysis, and their absolute configurations were determined by electronic circular dichroism calculations. Thus, natural tetrastilbenes were determined as absolute configuration for the first time.

One of the most successful strategies in designing peptide-based cancer vaccines is modifying natural epitope peptides to increase their binding strength to human leukocyte antigens (HLAs). Anchor-modified Mart-1 peptide (ELAGIGILTV) is among the artificial epitope peptides with the highest binding affinity for HLA-A*0201. In this study, by fluorescence labeling of its either C- or N-terminus with N -(5-carboxyfluorescein)-l-lysine, we not only made it traceable but also drastically increased its binding strength to HLA-A*0201.

Cells rapidly lose their physiological phenotype upon disruption of their extracellular matrix (ECM)-intracellular cytoskeleton interactions. By comparing adult mouse skeletal muscle fibers, isolated either by mechanical dissection or by collagenase-induced ECM digestion, we investigated acute effects of ECM disruption on cellular and mitochondrial morphology, transcriptomic signatures, and Ca handling. RNA-sequencing showed striking differences in gene expression patterns between the two isolation methods with enzymatically dissociated fibers resembling myopathic phenotypes.

Group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) are crucial mediators of immunity and epithelial barrier function during immune responses against extracellular bacteria. Here, we identify Interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF-1), a transcription factor previously associated with type 1 immunity, as an essential regulator of intestinal ILC3 accumulation and effector cytokine production. We demonstrate that IRF-1 is upregulated in the context of infection with the enteropathogen Citrobacter rodentium and that its presence is central for anatomical containment and prevention of pathogen dissemination.

Blind source separation (BSS) methods have received a great deal of attention in electroencephalogram (EEG) artifact elimination as they are routine and standard signal processing tools to remove artifacts and reserve desired neural information. On the other hand, a classifier should follow BSS methods to automatically identify artifactual sources and remove them in the following steps. In addition, removing all detected artifactual components leads to loss of information since some desired information related to neural activity leaks to these sources.
