Background: Acute variceal bleeding (AVB), a life-threatening complication of liver cirrhosis, can be effectively treated by endoscopy, but there is a risk of early rebleeding after endoscopic variceal treatment (EVT). Thrombocytopenia is the most common hemostatic abnormality in liver cirrhosis. However, it is still unclear about whether thrombocytopenia increases the failure of EVT in cirrhotic patients with AVB.

We focus on hepatitis B virus (HBV)-induced cirrhosis, global differences, and the evolution of antiviral treatment strategies. Chronic HBV (CHB) infection affects more than 250 million people globally, leading to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The aim of this article was to synthesize the current understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical consequences of HBV-induced cirrhosis, and explore differences in disease progression between geographic regions.

Polyphenols, known for their potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, have emerged as promising, natural, and safe complementary treatment options for metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Among these, curcumin, resveratrol, and silymarin are the most extensively studied; however, their differential effects on MASLD outcomes remain inconclusive. This systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs aimed to evaluate the efficacy of curcumin, resveratrol, and silymarin in patients with MASLD.

The increasing focus of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) in liquid biopsy has created a significant demand for streamlined improvements in sEV isolation methods, efficient collection of high-quality sEV data, and powerful rapid analysis of large data sets. Herein, we develop a high-throughput dual-use mass spectroscopic chip array (DUMSCA) for the rapid isolation and detection of plasma sEVs. The DUMSCA realizes more than a 50% increase in speed compared to traditional method and confirms proficiency in robust storage, reuse, high-efficiency desorption/ionization, and metabolite quantification.

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of Erzhu Jiedu Decoction (EZJDD) Granules in treating mid-advanced hepatitis B virus-associated primary liver cancer (HBV-PLC) patients with Pi (Spleen)-deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome.
Methods: From January 2021 to June 2023, a cohort of 132 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to a control group or a EZJDD group according to the random numbers, with 66 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received conventional treatment for 3 months, followed by a 3-month follow-up.

To investigate the interventional effect of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMMSC) transplantation with different doses of X-ray irradiation induced hepatic injury in mice. Eighteen female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 0, 2, and 3 Gy irradiation groups and 0, 2, and 3 Gy transplantation groups. The irradiation group was used as the control and injected with an equal volume of culture medium.

Objective: Jianpi huoxue decoction (JHD), a Chinese herbal formula, is commonly used for treating alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD). This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which JHD affects intestinal barrier function in ALD rats.
Methods: The Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group, model group and JHD group.

Accumulating evidence has shown that tRNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) play crucial roles in malignant tumor development. However, whether serum tsRNAs can act as potential biological markers for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are still largely unknown. In the current study, a novel tsRNA, namely tsRNA-Thr-5-0015, was prominently elevated in the sera of HCC patients than that of hepatitis cases and healthy check-ups, and it was related with TNM stage and lymphatic metastasis of HCC patients.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: In China, Maimendong Decoction (MMDD) is a classic Chinese medicine prescription for treating lung diseases, such as cough, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and so on. However, the mechanism by which MMDD inhibits lung cancer metastasis remains unclear.
Aim Of The Study: This study seeks to examine the effect of MMDD on suppressing lung cancer metastasis and to uncover its mechanism through the regulation of tumor immunity.

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a pivotal global public health concern. Attaining a functional cure for hepatitis B continues to be a hot and difficult issue that requires immediate attention in clinical practice. There are currently nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) that can persistently suppress HBV DNA; however, the functional cure rate of pegylated interferon alfa (PEG-IFN-α) alone or in combination with NAs has not yet met clinical needs.

In this editorial, we comment on the article by Mei . Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a severe inflammatory subtype of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with pathological features including steatosis, hepatocellular damage, and varying degrees of fibrosis. With the epidemic of metabolic diseases and obesity, the prevalence of NAFLD in China has increased, and it is now similar to that in developed countries; thus, NAFLD has become a major chronic liver disease in China.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), also called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, is the most epidemic chronic liver disease worldwide. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is the critical stage of MASLD, and early diagnosis and treatment of MASH are crucial for reducing the incidence of intrahepatic and extrahepatic complications. So far, pharmacotherapeutics for the treatment of MASH are still a major challenge, because of the complexity of the pathogenesis and heterogeneity of MASH.

S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a major methyl donor plays a key role in methylation modification in vivo, and its disorder was closely related to neural tube defects (NTDs). However, the exact mechanism between SAM deficiency and NTDs remained unclearly. Hence, we investigated the association between histone methylation modification and cell differentiation in NTDs mice induced by SAM deficiency.

Sorafenib (SOR), a multi-kinase inhibitor for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), has limited clinical application due to severe side effects and drug resistance. To overcome these challenges, we developed a bismuth-based nanomaterial (BOS) for thermal injury-assisted continuous targeted therapy in HCC. Initially, the mesoporous nanomaterial was loaded with SOR, forming the BOS@SOR nano-carrier system for drug delivery and controlled release.
