The objectives of this study were to evaluate the accuracy of personalized numerical simulations of the electrical activity in human ventricles by comparing simulated electrocardiograms (ECGs) with real patients' ECGs and analyzing the sensitivity of the model output to variations in the model parameters. We used standard 12-lead ECGs and up to 224 unipolar body-surface ECGs to record three patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy devices and three patients with focal ventricular tachycardia. Patient-tailored geometrical models of the ventricles, atria, large vessels, liver, and spine were created using computed tomography data.

Currently, the most significant mediators of the systemic inflammatory response (SIR), specific to the development of critical states in sepsis, have the chaotic changes of concentrations in the blood. The solution to the problem is using integral indicators. A scoring scale of the SIR (0-16 points) is proposed based on the determination in the blood plasma of CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10.

Pharmacotherapy of hepatobiliary disorders is an important issue due to the high prevalence of liver failure, toxic and viral hepatitis and cirrhosis. The number of stimuli that can potentially induce or accelerate liver recovery is limited; in our study we selected sodium phthalhydrazide, which has been found to promote liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy. We examined the effects of phthalhydrazide on liver morphometric, histological and biochemical parameters in rats intoxicated with CCl.

Pharmacological interventions which could be hepatoprotective, depending on bioavailability, anti-inflammatory and macrophage-targeting potential of drugs, are still at early preclinical stages. Existing evidence from many animal models of liver injury, as well as from human data, indicate that pharmacological and/or phytochemical interventions have limited impact on liver recovery. Recent studies on stem cell therapies focused on different cell subsets involved in tissue repair, including monocytes/macrophages and bone marrow cells migrating to the injured liver.

Background: Incorrect administration of an anesthetic during local anesthesia is one of the most important causes of pain symptoms in patients scheduled for dental procedures. The current study assessed the severity of damage to periodontal tissue following different rates of anesthetic administration.
Methods: The research was conducted on 50 outbred male rats with a body mass of 180-240 g.

Our work involved experimental study of the influence of actomyosin complexes and the main structural components of the myocardial tissue - connective tissue collagen framework and cardiomyocytes - on the characteristics of viscoelastic hysteresis at different frequencies. In this paper a new method was introduced for the analysis of the viscoelastic characteristics of the force hysteresis in the isolated myocardial preparation for the assessment of mechanical energy expenditure in the tension-compression cycle. We established that basic myocardial structures have an impact on the to the characteristics of the viscoelastic hysteresis in many ways.

In the commonly used experimental model of diabetes, a cytotoxic glucose analogue alloxan can selectively destruct pancreatic β-cells, with characteristics similar to the type-1 diabetes (T1D) in humans. Treatment of diabetic rats with sodium phthalhydrazide partially reversed diabetogenic pathology in the alloxan-induced diabetes. The alloxan-treated rats with permanent hyperglycemia, which further received i.

In 2006, Takotsubo syndrome (TTC) was described as a distinct type of stress-induced cardiomyopathy (stress cardiomyopathy). However, when thinking about Takotsubo cardiomyopathy from the viewpoints of the AHA and ESC classifications, 2 possible problems may arise. The first potential problem is that a forecast of disease outcome is lacking in the ESC classification, whereas the AHA only states that 'outcome is favorable with appropriate medical therapy'.

Substituted thiadiazines exert a reliable therapeutic effect in treating stress, and a schematic description of their ability to influence all aspects of a stress response has been depicted. This study was conducted to pharmacologically evaluate compound L-17, a substituted thiadiazine, (2-morpholino-5-phenyl-6H-1,3,4-thiadiazine, hydrobromide) for possible anti-psychotic/antidepressant activity. Compound L-17 was synthesized by cyclocondensation of α-bromoacetophenone with the original morpholine-4-carbothionic acid hydrazide.

A significant role of the stress response to many different diseases prompted a search for new specialized and non-specialized anti-stress agents. This study examines the effect of the compound L17 from the group of 5-phenyl substituted-6H-1,3,4-thiadiazine-2-amines, on the manifestations of the stress response. The authors used a standard model of immobilization stress, in which an animal was immobilized on its back for 6h a day.

The purpose of this study was to determine the specific features of the morphological restructuring of the myocardium in the early stage of experimental diabetes mellitus (DM). Experimental type 1 DM rat model was developed by intraperitoneal injection of alloxan solution at a dose of 30 mg per 100 g body mass. After 1 month, 3 mL of blood was drawn by heart puncture and the plasma separated by centrifugation for biochemical analysis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIt is well known that the structure of biological tissue is closely related to tissue functions and defines its viscoelastic properties. It is necessary to create a model combining structural organization of myocardium and its viscoelastic properties to develop a model of cardiac wall of intact or deceased heart. This paper is devoted to experimental and theoretical study of viscoelastic behavior of isolated myocardial samples.
