Introduction: Obesity is a worldwide epidemic, with up to 17% of French population affected. European guidelines recommend surgical management at specific weight and comorbidity level; however, less than 2% of eligible patients undergo surgical bariatric interventions. To extend the benefits of bariatric interventions to the untreated population with obesity, endoscopic techniques such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) have been developed.

Videofluoroscopy, recognized as the gold standard for dysphagia exploration, has inherent limitations, including poor soft tissue discrimination, radiation exposure, and aspiration risk. In response to these challenges, cine-MRI of swallowing has evolved over the past three decades, yielding diverse methodologies and results across various studies. This systematic review, conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, meticulously outlines cine-MRI protocols, applications, advantages, and limitations.

Endovascular interventions are procedures designed to diagnose and treat vascular diseases, using catheters to navigate inside arteries and veins. Thanks to their minimal invasiveness, they offer many benefits, such as reduced pain and hospital stays, but also present many challenges for clinicians, as they require specialized training and heavy use of X-rays. This is particularly relevant when accessing (i.

Introduction: There is a demand for intraoperative diagnostic support and image guidance in oncological surgery. Novel techniques can provide images similar to histopathological slides within a few minutes. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and full-field OCT (FF-OCT) provide images with resolution greater than a hundred micrometers without the need for exogenous contrast agents or specimen staining.

Background: Identifying liver ischemia is crucial in liver surgery. This study aimed to develop a hemi-hepatic ischemia model for assessing liver ischemia using single snapshot imaging of optical properties (SSOP), a noninvasive optical imaging modality that provides real-time measurements of tissue oxygen saturation (StO2).

Objective: We assessed reproductive, obstetrical, and oncological outcomes in patients who underwent fertility-sparing treatment by including studies that adhere to the FIGO 2018 staging system.
Methods: Data on recurrence, mortality, pregnancy rate, live birth rate, and preterm delivery rate were collected.
Results: In patients with stages IA1, IA2, and IB1, the recurrence rate was 4.

Objective: Postoperative pain management significantly influences recovery speed, hospital stay duration, and healthcare costs. In light of inconsistencies in clinical trial outcomes, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of the Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) block compared to local anesthetic wound infiltration (WI) for postoperative pain management in gynecological surgery.
Data Sources: Systematic searches were conducted across PubMed/MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases to identify all randomized controlled trials comparing TAP block and WI in adult patients undergoing gynecological surgical procedures.

Background: The proliferation of several robotic platforms presents an opportunity to pinpoint the most suitable system for specific procedures and patient profiles. This study aims to explore differences in complications and functional outcomes among patients undergoing deep endometriosis excision with the da Vinci surgical system compared to the Hugo RAS system.
Method: This is a retrospective, multicenter cohort study.

Background: The use of fluorescence agents and imaging systems is a promising adjunct in the surgical management of colorectal cancer. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of fluorescence-guided surgery in the management of colorectal cancer, with a comparison to conventional (non-fluorescence-guided) surgery.
Methods: A literature search of MEDLINE, Embase, Emcare, and CINAHL databases was performed for studies that reported data on the outcomes of fluorescence-guided surgery, with or without a comparison group undergoing conventional surgery, for colorectal cancer between January 2000 and January 2024.

Background: Robot-assisted procedures are increasingly common, and several systems are available for thoraco-abdominal surgery. Specific structured training is necessary, while access to these systems is still limited. This study aimed to assess surgeons' skill progress during consecutive training days of a curriculum with exposure to different robotic systems.

Introduction: Vaginal approaches have become routine in the field of gynecologic surgery, whereas in general surgery vaginal wall transection is an infrequent practice typically reserved for extensive tumor resections. Approximately two decades ago, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) revolutionized conventional boundaries by accessing the peritoneal cavity transorally, transrectally, or transvaginally, enabling general surgery without visible scars. Although transvaginal approaches have been successfully used for various abdominal procedures by general surgeons, a gap remains in comprehensive training to fully exploit the potential of this route.

Background: Radio(chemo)therapy is often required in pelvic malignancies (cancer of the anus, rectum, cervix). Direct irradiation adversely affects ovarian and endometrial function, compromising the fertility of women. While ovarian transposition is an established method to move the ovaries away from the radiation field, surgical procedures to displace the uterus are investigational.
