The paper considers the possibility of implementing a quantum entanglement distribution in the cell microtubule. It has been shown that a quantum entanglement distribution proposed in the paper determines the process of quantum state teleportation through microtubule tryptophan chain. The work shows that the system of tryptophans in a microtubule essentially is a quantum network that consists of: spatially spaced nodes - tryptophans, quantum communication channels connecting tryptophans and qubits transmitted through these communication channels.

Lanthanide (Ln) elements Gd and Yb alloyed with a Pb monolayer on the Si(111) substrate form LnPb compounds having the same crystal structure. They comprise a single-atom-thick Pb layer arranged in a slightly distorted kagome lattice with Ln atoms filling the hexagonal voids. They have similar electronic band structures except for the Fermi level position, which varies between the divalent Yb- and trivalent Gd-containing compounds by ∼0.

The potential to produce nanostructures with intricate shapes in large quantities holds promise for a range of applications in the fields of nanoelectronics and biomedicine. Here a method for fabricating jellyfish-like Ni nanowires (JFNWs) using bilayered nanoporous anodic alumina templates with through pores of varying diameters in each layer is presented. To assess the capabilities of this method, samples are created with different voltages during the second step of anodization, resulting in distinct geometrical characteristics of the second layer of the template, and subsequently synthesize Ni JFNWs.

Departments of Biotechnology and Marine Natural Compounds Chemistry, G.B. Elyakov Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Far Eastern Branch of The Russian Academy of Sciences, 690922 Vladivostok, Russia.

Based on the results of our own preliminary studies, the derivative of the marine alkaloid fascaplysin containing a phenyl substituent at C-9 was selected to evaluate the therapeutic potential in vivo and in vitro. It was shown that this compound has outstandingly high antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains in vitro. The presence of a substituent at C-9 of the framework is of fundamental importance, since its replacement to neighboring positions leads to a sharp decrease in the selectivity of the antibacterial action, which indicates the presence of a specific therapeutic target in bacterial cells.

Department of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering, University of Sharjah, P.O. Box 27272, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

We propose a circuit-level model combining the Marcus-Hush-Chidsey electron current equation and the Yakopcic equation for the state variable for describing resistive switching memory devices of the structure metal-ionic conductor-metal. We extend the dynamics of the state variable originally described by a first-order time derivative by introducing a fractional derivative with an arbitrary order between zero and one. We show that the extended model fits with great fidelity the current-voltage characteristic data obtained on a Si electrochemical metallization memory device with Ag-Cu alloy.

Dimensionality can strongly influence the magnetic structure of solid systems. Here, we predict theoretically and confirm experimentally that the antiferromagnetic (AFM) ground state of bulk gadolinium germanide metalloxene, which has a quasi-layered defective GdGe structure, is preserved in the ultrathin film limit. calculations demonstrate that ultrathin GdGe films present in-plane intra-layer ferromagnetic coupling and AFM inter-layer coupling in the ground state.

We investigated the properties of cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) being in an external static magnetic field directed along the helix axis. We considered a dichroic CLC, that is, CLC with parameters ReΔ=Reɛ_{1}-Reɛ_{2}/2=0 and ImΔ=Imɛ_{1}-Imɛ_{2}/2≠0, where ɛ_{1,2} are the principal values of the local dielectric permittivity tensor. We have shown that in the case of the wavelength dependence of the magneto-optic activity parameter, new features appear in the optics of dichroic CLCs, in particular, in this case new Dirac points appear.

July 2023

Department of Chemistry and Materials, Institute of High Technologies and Advanced Materials, FEFU Campus, Far Eastern Federal University, Ajax Bay 10, Russky Island, 690922 Vladivostok, Russia.

Article Synopsis
  • Fascaplysin is a marine alkaloid with strong anticancer properties due to its ability to target multiple cancer cell pathways, such as inhibiting CDK4 and inducing apoptosis.
  • Despite its potential, studies on improving fascaplysin for clinical use face challenges due to its toxicity from DNA intercalation and limited synthesis methods.
  • A new two-step synthesis method for fascaplysin derivatives shows that 6-butylfascaplysin has reduced DNA intercalation compared to fascaplysin, indicating that the link between DNA intercalation and cytotoxicity may need reevaluation.

Nano- and microstructures based on ferrimagnets can demonstrate high efficiency and dynamics of current-induced magnetization switching combined with high stability of spin textures such as bubble domains and skyrmions, which are of practical importance for the development of spintronics and spin-orbitronics. This set of features is usually associated with magnetic momentum or angular momentum compensation states. Here, we experimentally show that the compensation state can be realized locally using nonuniform Joule heating.

One of the hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis is the production, aggregation, and deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a promising analytical technique capable of providing valuable information on chemical composition and molecule conformations in biological samples. However, one of the main challenges for introducing the SERS technique into the practice is preparation of scalable and at the same time stable nanostructured sensors with uniform spatial distribution of nanoparticles.
