To investigate the clinical value of tympanic membrane repairment with modified ear canal flap under endoscope. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 62 patients who underwent simple tympanic membrane perforation repair surgery in our hospital from August 2019 to January 2023. All patients were divided into two groups: 37 cases in the otoscopy group and 25 cases in the microscope group.

: With modern diagnostic tools, incidence ischemia with no obstructive coronary atherosclerosis (INOCA) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) are found to be much higher than previously believed, and-as they lead to adverse cardiovascular outcomes-their causes and development are subjects of ongoing research. There is growing evidence that coronary microvascular dysfunction might be the underlying cause of both INOCA and HFpEF. : In 65 patients with effort angina but no obstructive coronary artery disease, the index of microvascular resistance and coronary flow reserve were measured invasively in the LAD.

Background/objectives: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals often face discrimination in healthcare settings, resulting in health disparities. Evaluating healthcare professionals' affirmative practices is essential for promoting inclusive care and addressing these disparities. The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Gay Affirmative Practice Scale (GAP-ES), which measures healthcare professionals' affirmative practices towards gay individuals.

Background: In clinical practice, patient self-monitoring is crucial in achieving therapeutic goals in various diseases. In heart failure (HF), it is particularly important due to the increasing role of urine composition. Therefore, we proposed this study to assess the accuracy of urine chloride () assessment via strip test in relation to chloride and sodium (uNa) measurements in a gold-standard laboratory method.

Objective: This research aimed to address the critical need for effective prognostic tools in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by exploring the potential significance of integrating estimated glucose disposal rate (eGDR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR).
Methods: Major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) were the primary endpoint. Log rank test was conducted to compare the Kaplan-Meier curves across the overall follow-up period, and multivariate Cox regression was used to investigate the association between the eGDR/NLR and MACCE.

Background: Glycated albumin (GA) has been demonstrated to be associated with adverse outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, as a specific subgroup of ACS, a significant proportion of patients with ACS without standard modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (SMuRFs) are currently being identified. The prognostic value of serum GA for adverse events in such patients remains unexplored.

Background: Salt-sensitive hypertension (SSH) is the most severe form of hypertension, and the presence of NLRP3 inflammasome plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis. Although MCC950 has shown therapeutic potential for hypertension and kidney injury, its mechanism of action remains unclear.
Methods: Dahl salt-sensitive (SS) rats and their salt-tolerant aptamer control SS-13 (BN) rats were randomly assigned to four groups: SS rats intraperitoneally administered physiological saline (SS + vehicle) or MCC950 (SS + MCC950), and BN rats intraperitoneally administered physiological saline (BN + vehicle) or MCC950 (BN + MCC950).

Background: The aim of the study was to analyze the potential relationship between the diuretic response, the clinical profile and the concentrations of selected biochemical markers and to identify a group of patients who will benefit from a new form of therapy combining standard diuretic therapy with the use of a RenalGuard® system.
Methods: This is a retrospective study of 19 patients (mean age 67 ± 10 years, 95% men) hospitalized due to acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF, NYHA class III-IV, BP 125 ± 14/73 ± 16 mmHg, eGFR 58 ± 24) with persistent overhydration despite standard therapy. A targeted comparative analysis of selected clinical and biochemical parameters was performed to determine the parameters associated with a better diuretic response [good diuretic responders (GDR) group].

Background: To investigate changes in pulmonary artery pressure (PAP), blood indices, and myocardial microcirculation in rats returning from high altitude (HA) to moderate altitude (MA).
Methods: Forty 4-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups with ten rats in each group. One group was transported to the MA area (MA-group), and the other three groups were transported to HA (HA-group-A, HA-group-B, and HA-group-C).

Little is known about the long-term effectiveness of risk-based treat-to-target cholesterol-lowering interventions on cardiovascular risk. Here, we show the emulated effectiveness of guideline-recommended low-density and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol-lowering interventions using the absolute risk reduction (ARR) and the restricted mean event-free time-based number needed to treat (NNT). With 5,375 participants, the 29-year risks for cardiovascular disease (CVD), all-cause mortality, and atherosclerotic CVD were 18.

To identify genetic variants associated with Stanford A thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection (ATAAD) using whole-exome sequencing (WES) and analyze positive mutation rates among patients of different onset ages. WES was performed on 62 sporadic Chinese ATAAD patients (51-74 years old), and then grouped based on onset age together with 73 previously reported TAAD patients (19-50 years old): ≤35, 36-45, 46-55, and >55 years. The proportion of patients with pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants in TAAD causal genes was compared across groups.

The postprocedural outcomes of coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularization in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) are still unclear. In this study, the periprocedural safety of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for revascularization of CTO in patients with LVSD is evaluated. In this study, patients hospitalized for coronary heart disease complicated by LVSD who underwent CTO PCI or CTO CABG between 2014 and 2020 were involved.

Background: Current guidelines do not recommend β-blockers in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) unless indicated by comorbidities. However, the evidence regarding the role of β-blockers in PAH is contradictory.
Research Question: What are the effects of β-blockers on clinical outcomes in patients newly diagnosed with PAH, and how do these outcomes differ based on the presence of cardiovascular comorbidities that are standard indications for β-blocker use?
Study Design And Methods: We analyzed data from 806 patients newly diagnosed with PAH enrolled prospectively in the Database of Pulmonary Hypertension in the Polish Population (BNP-PL).
