Background And Purpose: Body mass index (BMI), as a straightforward measure, is widely used in clinical practice, and its results are linked to HT and patient prognosis. This study aimed to ascertain if sex differences exist in the prognostic significance of BMI at the time of admission to the cardiology unit, and how this impacts the LOHS for patients suffering from hypertension.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective analysis of the medical records of 486 patients admitted urgently with a diagnosis of HT to the Cardiology Department at University Hospital in Wroclaw (Poland) between January 2017 and June 2021 was conducted.

Background: Timely and accurate evaluation of the patient's pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) is of great significance for the treatment of congenital heart disease. Currently, there is no non-invasive gold standard method for evaluating PAP.
Aim: To assess the prognostic value of lipocalin-2 (LCN2) in relation to PAP in patients with congenital heart disease associated with pulmonary artery hypertension.

Aims: Biomarkers are pivotal in the management of heart failure (HF); however, their lack of cardiac specificity could limit clinical utility. This study aimed to investigate the transcoronary changes and intracardiac production of these biomarkers.
Methods: Transcoronary gradients for B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and five novel biomarkers-galectin-3 (Gal-3), soluble suppression of tumourigenicity 2 (sST2), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1), growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) and myeloperoxidase (MPO)-were determined using femoral artery (FA) and coronary sinus (CS) samples from 30 HF patients and 10 non-HF controls.

Aims: In the EMPACT-MI trial, empagliflozin reduced heart failure (HF) hospitalizations but not mortality in acute myocardial infarction (MI). Contemporary reports of clinical event rates with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in acute MI trials are sparse. The treatment effect of empagliflozin in those with and without T2DM in acute MI is unknown.

Aims: The interstitial space is the major compartment in which the excess fluid is located, forming peripheral congestion in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The lymphatic system is responsible for the constant drainage of the compartment. In ADHF, the inefficiency of this system causes extravascular fluid accumulation, underscoring the crucial role of lymphatic system failure in ADHF's pathophysiology.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPD) with or without pulmonary hypertension (PH) occurs when thromboemboli in pulmonary arteries fail to resolve completely. Pulmonary artery obstructions due to chronic thrombi and secondary microvasculopathy can increase pulmonary arterial pressure and resistance leading to chronic thromboembolic PH (CTEPH). Mechanical interventions and/or PH medications can improve cardiopulmonary haemodynamic, alleviate symptoms, and decrease mortality risk.

Relapsed or refractory T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (r/r T-ALL/LBL) are frequently aggressive and associated with unfavorable prognoses. Pan-targeted Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy have shown promising results in clinical trials. In recent years, CD7 CAR T-cell and CD5 CAR T-cell demonstrate effectiveness in treating r/r T-ALL/LBL patients with bone marrow infiltration.

The ageing population has heightened interest in the prognostic role of geriatric conditions, notably frailty syndrome (FS) and cognitive impairment (CI). Evidence indicates a significant link between cardiovascular disease, FS, and CI. However, limited research has explored the impact of impaired functional and cognitive performance on outcomes in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients.

: Heart failure (HF) is a significant public health issue with high morbidity and mortality rates. This study aims to investigate the interrelationships between frailty, cognitive impairment, and depression in older adults with HF, specifically focusing on how the physical and neuropsychiatric dimensions of frailty contribute to cognitive decline. : This study included 250 patients aged 60 years or older, diagnosed with HF and hospitalized for acute decompensated HF.

Introduction: Neointimal hyperplasia is one of the persistent complications after vascular interventions, and is the major cause of treatment failure. Interleukin-33 (IL-33) emerges as a crucial factor in many biological processes and plays an important role in vascular diseases. Adventitial injection is catching attention for its effectiveness and fewer side effects.

Over the past several decades, a canonical pathway called the cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) mediating type I interferon (IFN) release via TANK-binding kinase 1(TBK1) / IFN regulatory factor 3 (IRF3) pathway has been widely investigated and characterized. Unexpectedly, recent studies show that the cGAS-STING noncanonically activates the protein kinase RNA-like ER kinase (PERK)-eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (eIF2α), an essential branch of unfolded protein response (UPR), even before the activation of the TBK1/IRF3 signaling. Additionally, we found that the PERK could regulate the STING signaling besides being modulated by upstream cGAS-STING.

Objective: The optimal hypothermic circulatory arrest temperature during total arch replacement and the impact of hypothermic circulatory arrest temperature on postoperative neurological complications are still uncertain. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of hypothermic circulatory arrest temperature on short-term postoperative outcomes, especially neurological complications, for patients who undergo total arch replacement.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 2351 patients who underwent total arch replacement at 1 of 7 selected aortic centers from January 2016 to June 2023.

Background: The optimal treatment strategy for patients with coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) and left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) remains unclear. This study investigated the long-term outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and medical therapy (MT) in this specific patient cohort.
Methods And Results: This retrospective cohort study included 987 consecutive patients with CTO and LVSD who met the inclusion criteria and underwent either CTO-PCI (n=277), CTO-CABG (n=222), or CTO-MT (n=488) between 2014 and 2020.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) poses a significant challenge in contemporary medicine, characterized by poor quality of life, high healthcare costs, and increased mortality. Despite advancements in medical research, treatment strategies for HFpEF remain elusive, with unclear guidance on the use of beta-blockers. While sympathetic overstimulation is common in HFpEF, beta-blockers, though potentially beneficial in reducing sympathetic activity, may exacerbate chronotropic incompetence and decrease exercise tolerance.

Plaque rupture in atherosclerosis (AS) is a major cause of acute cardiovascular events. Macrophage-induced inflammatory responses and accumulation of excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) primarily induce unstable plaques. Therefore, targeting ROS clearance and functional modulation of macrophages are clinically crucial for improving plaque stability and inhibiting AS progression.
