Am J Hypertens

December 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China.

Background: Systolic blood pressure (BP) is a key factor in the outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) receiving endovascular thrombectomy (EVT). However, the factors that mediate the association between BP and clinical outcome are unclear.

Methods: Consecutive patients with AIS in the anterior circulation underwent continuous blood pressure monitoring for 24 hours.

Recurrent strokes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement in an elderly patient with severe bicuspid aortic valve stenosis: a case report.

BMC Cardiovasc Disord

December 2024

Department of Cardiology, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, 100730, China.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has evolved from a novel technology to an established therapy for high-risk patients with symptomatic severe aortic valve stenosis (AS). Recently, its use has also been extended to low-risk patients, resulting in its increasing utilization in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). But as a serious post-TAVR complication, ischemic stroke was associated with a nearly 6-fold increased 30-day mortality.

Aims: To investigate glycaemic control in Chinese adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D) initiating, or switching to insulin degludec/insulin aspart (IDegAsp), a co-formulation of basal, and bolus insulin, in a real-world setting.

Materials And Methods: A 20-week, prospective, single-arm, open-label, non-interventional study was conducted in Chinese adults with T2D initiating, or switching to IDegAsp after anti-hyperglycaemic treatment with oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs), other insulins, or glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists. The primary endpoint was a change in HbA from baseline to end of the study; the secondary endpoints included a change in fasting plasma glucose and Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQ) score.

Potential for contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasonography with the Kupffer phase to improve and guide therapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Quant Imaging Med Surg

December 2024

Department of General Surgery, Beijing Hospital, National Centre of Gerontology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China.

Background: Not all malignant tumors, especially in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with cirrhosis, can be detected by preoperative imaging methods. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to improve the intraoperative detectability of HCCs. Contrast-enhanced intraoperative ultrasonography (CE-IOUS) is an effective technique for detecting and characterizing occulting HCC lesions.

[Application and prospects of infrared thermography in rheumatic diseases].

Beijing Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban

December 2024

Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Beijing Hospital; National Center of Gerontology; Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing 100730, China.

Infrared thermography is an advanced technology that utilizes infrared detectors to sense the infrared thermal radiation emitted from the human body' s surface, converting it into electrical signals. These signals are then processed by computers to generate planar temperature color images, providing an intuitive display of the body surface temperature distribution. Rheumatic diseases, as prevalent conditions that significantly impact the quality of life of millions of people worldwide, pose significant challenges in diagnosis and assessment.

Department of Hematology, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, National Health Commission, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China.

The DNA demethylating therapy with azacitidine (AZA) is a promising therapeutic strategy for elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AZA primarily inhibits DNA methylation, promotes cell differentiation and apoptosis in AML. However, as a cytosine nucleoside analog, AZA also has the potential to be incorporated into RNA molecules.

Calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase (CASK) interaction protein 1/2 (Caskin1/2) is essential neuronal synaptic scaffold protein in nervous system development. Knockouts of Caskin1/2 display severe deficits in novelty recognition and spatial memory. The tandem sterile alpha motif (SAM) domains of Caskin1/2, also conserved in their Drosophila homolog Ckn, are known to form homopolymers, yet their dynamic regulation mechanism remains unclear.

To study the effects of metabolic enzyme activity inhibition and genetic polymorphisms on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of rivaroxaban, we established an in vitro enzymatic reaction system to screen for inhibitors, and used the UPLC-MS/MS method to detect the levels of rivaroxaban and its metabolite M2-1. Additionally, in vivo pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic studies were conducted using Sprague-Dawley rats. Human recombinant CYP2J2 baculosomes were prepared using a baculovirus-insect expression system to investigate the impact of genetic polymorphisms on rivaroxaban metabolism through enzyme kinetics methods.
