Key Laboratory of Tea Resources Comprehensive Utilization, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Institute of Fruit and Tea, Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wuhan, China.

Interactions between jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA) pathways in plants are important for regulating metabolite production and resistance functions against environmental stresses. These interactions in plants have mostly been reported to be antagonistic, but also to be synergistic under specific external inducing conditions. At present, publications on plant JA-SA interactions lack a bibliometric analysis.

Hubei Key Laboratory of Germplasm Innovation and Utilization of Fruit trees, Research Institute of Fruit and Tea, Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wuhan 430064, PR China.

We report here the identification of a dsRNA virus, obtained from strain Newher-7, tentatively named partitivirus 3 (FsPV3). It consists of four dsRNA segments (dsRNA1-4) with lengths of 1961, 1900, 1830 and 1830 bp, respectively. Sequence analysis showed that dsRNA1 encodes an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), dsRNA2 encodes a capsid protein (CP), dsRNA3 encodes a hypothetical protein of unknown function and dsRNA4 encodes two hypothetical proteins of unknown function.

Resistance gene Ty-1 restricts TYLCV infection in tomato by increasing RNA silencing.

Virol J

Centre SÈVE, Département de Biologie, Université de Sherbrooke, 2500 Blvd.de l'Université, Sherbrooke, QC, J1K 2R1, Canada.

A major antiviral mechanism in plants is mediated by RNA silencing through the action of DICER-like (DCL) proteins, which cleave dsRNA into discrete small RNA fragments, and ARGONAUTE (AGO) proteins, which use the small RNAs to target single-stranded RNA. RNA silencing can also be amplified through the action of RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RDRs), which use single stranded RNA to generate dsRNA that in turn is targeted by DCL proteins. As a counter-defense, plant viruses encode viral suppressors of RNA silencing (VSRs) that target different components in the RNA silencing pathway.

'Lane Late', a late-maturing navel orange cultivar, is mainly distributed in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, which matures in the late March of the next year and needs overwintering cultivation. Citrus fruit granulation is a physiological disorder, which is characterized by lignification and dehydration of juice sac cells, seriously affecting the commercial value of citrus fruits. The pre-harvest granulation of late-maturing navel orange is main caused by low temperature in the winter, but its mechanism and regulation pattern remain unclear.

June 2023

National Key Laboratory for Germplasm Innovation & Utilization of Horticultural Crops, Key Laboratory of Horticultural Plant Biology (Ministry of Education), Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China.

Over 70% land plants live in mutualistic symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, and maintenance of symbiosis requires transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation. The former has been widely studied, whereas the latter mediated by symbiotic microRNAs (miRNAs) remains obscure, especially in woody plants. Here, we performed high-throughput sequencing of the perennial woody citrus plant Poncirus trifoliata and identified 3750 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 42 miRNAs (DEmiRs) upon AM fungal colonization.
