Electronic address:

Efficient pullulan production has long been a central research focus. This study used maltodextrin as the carbon source for pullulan production by Aureobasidium pullulans fermentation. A hybrid optimization approach, integrating orthogonal experimental design (OED), backpropagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN), and elite strategy non-dominated sequential genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II), was developed.

Article Synopsis
  • Simao pine is an important economic tree in southwest China, but its breeding is limited due to insufficient genetic information.
  • A high-resolution genetic linkage map using SLAF-seq technology was created, identifying 11,544 SNPs across 12 linkage groups, with 17 QTLs linked to four growth-related traits.
  • These findings lay the groundwork for genomic research and improve methods for breeding Simao pine through marker-assisted selection.

To reveal the variation of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extractives of rhizomes Polygonatum cyrtonema from different producing areas, growing years, and harvesting seasons,25 wild samples from the main producing areas( provenances) of China and 6 artificial cultivated samples were collected and detected. The 6-year-old rhizomes of the artificial cultivation were gathered from Qingyuan,Zhejiang every 2 months during 2016 to 2017. Anthrone-sulfuric acid method and hot-dip method were used to determine the contents of polysaccharides and alcohol-soluble extractives respectively.

Nitrogen (N) fertilization is necessary to sustain productivity in eucalypt plantations, but it can increase the risk of greenhouse gas emissions. However, the response of soil greenhouse gas emissions to N fertilization might be influenced by soil characteristics, which is of great significance for accurately assessing greenhouse gas budgets and scientific fertilization in plantations. We conducted a two-year N fertilization experiment (control [CK], low N [LN], middle N [MN] and high N [HN] fertilization) in two eucalypt plantations with different soil characteristics (higher and lower soil organic carbon sites [HSOC and LSOC]) in Guangxi, China, and assessed soil-atmosphere greenhouse gas exchanges.

[Rainfall effects on the sap flow of Hedysarum scoparium.].

Ying Yong Sheng Tai Xue Bao

March 2016

Institute of Forestry Sciences, Bailongjiang Forestry Management Bureau of Gansu Province, Lanzhou 730070, China.

In arid and semi-arid areas, plant physiological responses to water availability depend largely on the intensity and frequency of rain events. Knowledge on the responses of xerophytic plants to rain events is important for predicting the structure and functioning of dryland ecosystems under changing climate. The sap flow of Hedysarum scoparium in the Mu Us Sand Land was continuously measured during the growing season of 2012 and 2013.
