The idea behind the research presented is based upon apparently contradictory experimental results obtained here by means of photoacoustics modalities for the same drug donor/acceptor membrane system, serving as a surrogate for a transdermal delivery system. The first modality allowed for the monitoring of the total amount of mass uptake (m(t)-type data), while the second technique allowed for the quantification of time-dependent concentration distribution within the acceptor membrane (c(x,t)-type data). Despite of a very good agreement between the mt data and the 1st-order uptake fitting model (standard Fickian diffusion with constant source boundary condition), the standard approach failed during the c(x,t) data analysis.

Th-containing superconducting high entropy system with the nominal composition (NbTa)[Formula: see text](MoWTh)[Formula: see text] was synthesized. Its structural and physical properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, specific heat, resistivity and magnetic measurements. Two main phases of alloy were observed: major bcc structure and minor fcc.

Variants of garnet-type LiLaZrO are being intensively studied as separator materials in solid-state battery research. The material-specific transport properties, such as bulk and grain boundary conductivity, are of prime interest and are mostly investigated by impedance spectroscopy. Data evaluation is usually based on the one-dimensional (1D) brick layer model, which assumes a homogeneous microstructure of identical grains.

The most precise measurements to date of the _{Λ}^{3}H lifetime τ and Λ separation energy B_{Λ} are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The _{Λ}^{3}H is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel (_{Λ}^{3}H→^{3}He+π^{-} and the charge-conjugate process).

The hypothetical particle A is a low-mass spin-0 particle decaying promptly to a merged diphoton reconstructed as a single photonlike object. We analyze the data collected by the CMS experiment at sqrt[s]=13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 136 fb^{-1}.

Interferometric methods form the basis of highly sensitive measurement techniques from astronomy to bioimaging. Interferometry typically requires high stability between the measured and reference beams. The presence of rapid phase fluctuations washes out interference fringes, making phase profile recovery impossible.

The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Multivariate discriminants are used to distinguish the signal process from the main backgrounds.

A signal having a statistical significance well in excess of 5 standard deviations is observed. Using the η→μ^{+}μ^{-} decay as normalization, the branching fraction B(η→μ^{+}μ^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})=[5.

The study concerns the evaluation of the physicochemical and thermo-adsorptive surface properties of six commercially available mouthrinses, particularly surface tension, surface activity, partitioning coefficient, critical micellar concentration, Gibbs excesses at interfaces, surface entropy, and enthalpy. The aim was to quantify their effect on the adhesion and wettability of a model poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) polymer. The adsorptive and thermal surface characteristics were derived from surface tension () vs.

Given the widespread demand for novel antibacterial agents, we modified a cell-penetrating peptide (KFF)K to transform it into an antibacterial peptide. Namely, we inserted a hydrocarbon staple into the (KFF)K sequence to induce and stabilize its membrane-active secondary structure. The staples were introduced at two positions, (KFF)K[5-9] and (KFF)K[2-6], to retain the initial amphipathic character of the unstapled peptide.

Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions.

Multicellular organization is a requirement for the development of complex organisms, and filamentous cyanobacteria such as represent a paradigmatic case of bacterial multicellularity. The filament can include hundreds of communicated cells that exchange nutrients and regulators and, depending on environmental conditions, can include different cell types specialized in distinct biological functions. Hence, the specific features of the filament and how they are propagated during cell division represent outstanding biological issues.

Highly reflective mirrors are indispensable components in a variety of state-of-the-art photonic devices. Typically used, bulky, multi-layered distributed Bragg (DBR) reflectors are limited to lattice-matched semiconductors or nonconductive dielectrics. Here, we introduce an inverted refractive index-contrast grating (ICG) as compact, single-layer alternative to DBR.

Aurophilicity is a well-known phenomenon in structural gold chemistry and is found in many crystals of Au(I) complexes. However, these attractive dispersion forces between and within complexes containing Au(I) moieties have not been well studied in ultrathin films. In this paper, we elucidate the interaction of chlorido(2-naphthyl isonitrile)gold(I) on and with Au(110) surfaces.

A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data.

A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. Multijet events at large transverse momentum () are measured at using data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The multiplicity of jets with that are produced in association with a high- dijet system is measured in various ranges of the of the jet with the highest transverse momentum and as a function of the azimuthal angle difference between the two highest jets in the dijet system. The differential production cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momenta of the four highest jets.

Pteridine reductase 1 (PTR1) is a folate and pterin pathway enzyme unique for pathogenic trypanosomatids. As a validated drug target, PTR1 has been the focus of recent research efforts aimed at finding more effective treatments against human parasitic diseases such as leishmaniasis or sleeping sickness. Previous PTR1-centered structural studies highlighted the enzyme characteristics, such as flexible regions around the active site, highly conserved structural waters, and species-specific differences in pocket properties and dynamics, which likely impacts the binding of natural substrates and inhibitors.

Such a structure can be studied using high-energy photons produced in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions. The first measurement of the azimuthal angular correlations of exclusively produced events with two jets in photon-lead interactions at large momentum transfer is presented, a process that is considered to be sensitive to the underlying nuclear gluon polarization.

Two derivatives of a "super stable" Blatter radical (1,3-diphenyl-7-trifluoromethyl-1,4-dihydrobenzo[][1,2,4]triazin-4-yl) with N(1)-Ar = 2-CFCH and 2-MeOCH were obtained and investigated using XRD and SQUID magnetometry methods. The investigation revealed strong antiferromagnetic interactions in both radicals, which are described using the Hatfield model. For the latter radical, an abrupt and reversible change in the () plot was observed at 29 K.

One of the most attractive approaches in biomedicine and pharmacy is the application of multifunctional materials. The mesoporous structure of clinoptilolite (CZ) absorbs various types of substances and can be used as a model for studying the carriers for targeted drug delivery with controlled release. CZ-dye composites are fabricated by incorporation into clinoptilolite pores commonly used dyes, aluminum phthalocyanine, zinc porphine, and hypericin.
