Polysaccharide-based aerogels in the form of microspheres were investigated as carriers of poorly water soluble drugs for oral administration. Biodiesel fuels (BDFs) was successfully produced from Vietnamese Jatropha curcas oil with high content of free fatty acids (FFAs) in two stages. In the first stage, the esterification process was carried out with the optimal conditions as follows; a methanol-to-FFAs molar ratio of 6:1, 1 wt% H2SO4, at a temperature of 65 °C, and using 30% (wt/wt) acetonitrile as co-solvent. Land use management is one of the most critical factors influencing soil carbon storage and the global carbon cycle. This study evaluates the impact of land use change on the soil carbon stock in the Karasu region of Turkey which in the last two decades has undergone substantial deforestation to expand hazelnut plantations. Analysis of seasonal soil data indicated that the carbon content decreased rapidly with depth for both land uses.

In rice, Si assimilated from the soil solution is deposited in inter- and intracellular spaces throughout the leaf and stems to form silicified structures (so-called phytoliths). Because K is also present in significant concentrations in rice stems and leaves, the question arises if K is immobilized in the mineralized silica during the precipitation of Si. In order to obtain a detailed picture of pollution by organic micro-pollutants in Vietnamese rivers, 940 semi-volatile organic compounds in river sediments collected from four major cities were examined by a comprehensive gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-database. The number of detected chemicals at each site ranged from 49 to 158 (median 96 out of 940) with 185 analytes detected at least once in the survey. The substances detected with high frequency (over 80%) and high concentrations were n-alkanes, phthalates, sterols and PAHs.

Co-composting of olive oil solid residue (OOSR) and treated wastewaters (with Fenton) from the olive oil production process has been studied as an alternative method for the treatment of wastewater containing high organic and toxic pollutants in small olive oil industry in Cyprus. The experimental results indicated that the olive mill wastewater (OMW) is detoxified at the end of Fenton Process and the COD is reduced up to 70%. Small medium enterprises (SMEs) and very small medium enterprises (VSMEs) are the economic backbone of the most economies in Europe. Those VSMEs have mono-service or product, they feel economic pressure, they sell to the local market, they are family traditions and they are informal organizations, they have very "low management", they have employees from different nationalities, they have little access to adult training and to the new requirements of the market, they do not federate and they produce high amount of waste. A study was undertaken to examine cadmium accumulation in freshwater biofilm, its effects on biofilm development and on diatom community structure in laboratory experimental conditions.
