An electro-Fenton system, which consists of a Pt gauze anode and a commercial carbon felt cathode, is commonly employed to generate hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical and regenerate ferrous catalyst for glyphosate degradation (a widely used herbicide in Vietnam) in aqueous solution. The absorbance measurements used to determine the glyphosate concentration during the electrolysis proved that glyphosate was degraded by pseudo-first-order kinetic. The influence of pH, current density, catalyst concentration and initial content of the glyphosate on mineralisation efficiency were studied by monitoring the total organic carbon (TOC) and hydrogen peroxide concentration during electrolysis.

Nitrogen cluster doping for high-mobility/conductivity graphene films with millimeter-sized domains.

Sci Adv

August 2019

Center for Nanochemistry, Beijing Science and Engineering Center for Nanocarbons, Beijing National Laboratory for Molecular Sciences, College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University, Beijing 100871, P. R. China.

Directly incorporating heteroatoms into the hexagonal lattice of graphene during growth has been widely used to tune its electrical properties with superior doping stability, uniformity, and scalability. However the introduction of scattering centers limits this technique because of reduced carrier mobilities and conductivities of the resulting material. Here, we demonstrate a rapid growth of graphitic nitrogen cluster-doped monolayer graphene single crystals on Cu foil with remarkable carrier mobility of 13,000 cm V s and a greatly reduced sheet resistance of only 130 ohms square.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

September 2019

Institute of Environmental Technology, College of Environmental and Resource Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

The emergence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in microbes can be largely attributed to the abuse and misuse of antibiotics and biocides. Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) have been used worldwide as common disinfectants and detergents; however, their potential impact on the spread and diffusion of ARGs is still unknown. In this study, we detected the QAC resistance gene (qacEΔ1), the 1 integron gene (intI1), and 12 ARGs (sul1, sul2, cfr, cml, fexA, tetA, tetG, tetQ, tetX, ermB, bla and dfrA1) in 48 water samples from three watersheds by quantitative PCR (qPCR).

Adsorption mechanism of hexavalent chromium onto layered double hydroxides-based adsorbents: A systematic in-depth review.

J Hazard Mater

July 2019

Department of Environmental Engineering and R&D Center for Membrane Technology, Chung Yuan Christian University, Taoyuan, 32023, Taiwan. Electronic address:

An attempt has been made in this review to provide some insights into the possible adsorption mechanisms of hexavalent chromium onto layered double hydroxides-based adsorbents by critically examining the past and present literature. Layered double hydroxides (LDH) nanomaterials are typical dual-electronic adsorbents because they exhibit positively charged external surfaces and abundant interlayer anions. A high positive zeta potential value indicates that LDH has a high affinity to Cr(VI) anions in solution through electrostatic attraction.
