We describe the successful possibility of the immobilization of a photocatalyst on foam, which is beneficial from a practical point of view. An immobilized photocatalyst is possible for use in a continuous experiment and can be easily separated from the reactor after the reaction concludes. Parent TiO, La/TiO, and Nd/TiO photocatalysts (containing 0.

This study presents the removal of phosphate from aqueous solution using a new silver nanoparticles-loaded tea activated carbon (AgNPs-TAC) material. In order to reduce costs, the tea activated carbon was produced from tea residue. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of impregnation ratio of AgNPs and TAC, pH solution, contact time, initial phosphate concentration and dose of AgNPs-AC on removing phosphate from aqueous solution.

Bulk graphitic carbon nitride (CN) was synthetized by heating of melamine at 550 °C, and the exfoliated CN (ExCN) was prepared by heating of CN at 500 °C. Sulfur-doped CN was synthesized by heating of thiourea (S-CN) and by a novel procedure based on the post-synthetic derivatization of CN with methanesulfonyl (CHSO) chloride (Mes-CN and Mes-ExCN). The obtained nanomaterials were investigated by common characterization methods and their photocatalytic activity was tested by means of the decomposition of acetic orange 7 (AO7) under ultraviolet A (UVA) irradiation.

The reduction of ammonia emissions from air was experimentally investigated by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) utilizing the combination of ultraviolet irradiation with ozone. The influence of operating conditions such as initial ammonia concentration and flow rate of gas on the reduction of ammonia concentration was investigated in homemade photochemical unit. The conversion of ammonia decreased with increasing initial concentration of ammonia and with increasing flow rate of air (decreasing retention time).

Problems with antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and secondary pollution from microcystins (MCs), caused by cyanobacterial blooms have become significant global issues. These two pollutants co-occur in drinking water treatment plants (DWTPs), but the exact relationships between them requires further clarification. Here, a high-throughput quantitative real-time PCR and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to investigate the behavior of ARGs and MCs in a practical DWTP in the first place.

The aim of this study is to provide an evaluation of the recyclability of plastics derived from electrical equipment from contamination standpoint. A database was created to find trends in potentially toxic elements (PTEs) and bromine concentrations; in relation to unit's application, color, polymer type, and production date. For this study, 142 kg of plastics derived from waste electrical and electronic equipment, from the collection group 5, were analyzed.

In the Red River Delta, Vietnam, arsenic (As) contamination of groundwater is a serious problem where more than seventeen million people are affected. Millions of people in this area are unable to access clean water from the existing centralized water treatment systems. They also cannot afford to buy expensive household water filters.

Kaolin is most often used as traditional raw material in ceramic industry. The purpose of the study was to obtain understanding of the structural and chemical variability of cordierite ceramics influenced by chemical and mineralogical properties of six raw kaolins taken from different localities when they are applied in ceramics mixtures with vermiculite and sintered up to 1300 °C. The X-ray diffraction and simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis were used to identify and characterize crystalline mineral phases and the course of reactions during the heating.

The recycling network of post-consumer plastic packaging waste (PCPPW) was studied for the Netherlands in 2017 with material flow analysis (MFA) and data reconciliation techniques. In comparison to the previous MFA of the PCPPW recycling network in 2014, the predominant change is the expansion of the collection portfolio from only plastic packages to plastic packages, beverage cartons and metal objects. The analysis shows that the amounts of recycled plastics products (as main washed milled goods) increased from 75 to 103 Gg net and the average polymeric purity of the recycled products remained nearly constant.

F-La/TiO photocatalysts were studied in photocatalytic decomposition water-methanol solution. The structural, textural, optical, and electronic properties of F-La/TiO photocatalysts were studied by combination of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), nitrogen physisorption, Ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and X-ray fluorescence (XPS). An electro-Fenton system, which consists of a Pt gauze anode and a commercial carbon felt cathode, is commonly employed to generate hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical and regenerate ferrous catalyst for glyphosate degradation (a widely used herbicide in Vietnam) in aqueous solution. The absorbance measurements used to determine the glyphosate concentration during the electrolysis proved that glyphosate was degraded by pseudo-first-order kinetic. The influence of pH, current density, catalyst concentration and initial content of the glyphosate on mineralisation efficiency were studied by monitoring the total organic carbon (TOC) and hydrogen peroxide concentration during electrolysis.

This paper presents the design of a constructed wetland (CW) system in an area with limited land availability, resulting in high hydraulic loads. The CW was constructed to act as a buffering/ polishing step after stabilization ponds for steel industry wastewater post-treatment. A pilot test with two different filter media (50-100mm vs 40-60mm diameter) indicated that a flow rate increase from 49.

Directly incorporating heteroatoms into the hexagonal lattice of graphene during growth has been widely used to tune its electrical properties with superior doping stability, uniformity, and scalability. However the introduction of scattering centers limits this technique because of reduced carrier mobilities and conductivities of the resulting material. Here, we demonstrate a rapid growth of graphitic nitrogen cluster-doped monolayer graphene single crystals on Cu foil with remarkable carrier mobility of 13,000 cm V s and a greatly reduced sheet resistance of only 130 ohms square.

Agrochemical containers shall undergo decontamination before being considered for recycling. This study provides an assessment on the feasibility of the triple-rinsing decontamination procedure, while evaluating the appropriateness of the material's quality for recycling. To achieve the objectives of the study, (1) the effectiveness of the decontamination procedure was investigated; (2) containers´ long storage times and changes on the polymer´s structure were assessed; and (3) the quality of the recycled material was tested.

The emergence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in microbes can be largely attributed to the abuse and misuse of antibiotics and biocides. Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) have been used worldwide as common disinfectants and detergents; however, their potential impact on the spread and diffusion of ARGs is still unknown. In this study, we detected the QAC resistance gene (qacEΔ1), the 1 integron gene (intI1), and 12 ARGs (sul1, sul2, cfr, cml, fexA, tetA, tetG, tetQ, tetX, ermB, bla and dfrA1) in 48 water samples from three watersheds by quantitative PCR (qPCR).

Graphene and its derivatives such as functionalized graphene are considered to hold significant promise in numerous applications. Within that context, halogen functionalization is exciting for radical and nucleophilic substitution reactions as well as for the grafting of organic moieties. Historically, the successful covalent doping of sp carbon with halogens, such as bromine, was demonstrated with carbon nanotubes.

An attempt has been made in this review to provide some insights into the possible adsorption mechanisms of hexavalent chromium onto layered double hydroxides-based adsorbents by critically examining the past and present literature. Layered double hydroxides (LDH) nanomaterials are typical dual-electronic adsorbents because they exhibit positively charged external surfaces and abundant interlayer anions. A high positive zeta potential value indicates that LDH has a high affinity to Cr(VI) anions in solution through electrostatic attraction.
