The polymorphism of alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein (AHSG, alpha 2HS) was analysed in a sample of New Zealanders consisting of 194 New Zealand Europeans and 236 New Zealand Maori. Thin layer polyacrylamide gel isoelectric focusing followed by immunofixation revealed four different AHSG phenotypes in New Zealand Europeans and three different AHSG phenotypes in New Zealand Maori. The AHSG*2 frequency of 0.

Blood samples containing approximately 2% and 4% sodium fluoride have been stored at 4 degrees C for up to 5 months and 4 weeks respectively. ABO typing by absorption-elution was successful on stains made from almost all of the samples. PGM subtyping by isoelectric focusing was successful on most samples, with clearer results from whole blood than from stains.

Mass spectrometry in both electron-impact and positive chemical ionisation modes has been used to elucidate the structures of the decomposition products of zopiclone after gas chromatography. A high-performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the determination of zopiclone in whole blood. After selective extraction (butyl chloride) the extracts are chromatographed on Spherisorb ODS-5 (5 microns) using dibasic ammonium phosphate-acetonitrile (40:60).
