Methods: Specialists from 28 countries were invited to a survey via professional organisations.

Improving diabetic retinopathy screening at the point of care: integrating telemedicine to overcome current challenges.

Objective: To investigate the utility of point of care screening of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and the impact of a telemedicine program to overcome current challenges.

Methods: This was a retrospective study on people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who were screened for DR using the single-field non-mydriatic fundus photography at the point of care during routine follow-up visits at endocrinology clinic. Retinal images were uploaded and sent to a retina specialist for review.

Targeted analysis of Ubiquitin-Specific Peptidase (USP8) in a population of Iranian people with Cushing's disease and a systematic review of the literature.

Objective: Activating mutation in Ubiquitin-specific peptidase (USP8) is identified to enhance cell proliferation and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion from corticotroph pituitary adenoma. We investigated the USP8 variant status in a population of Iranian people with functional corticotroph pituitary adenoma (FCPA). Moreover, a systematic review was conducted to thoroughly explore the role of USP8 variants and the related pathways in corticotroph adenomas, genotype-phenotype correlation in USP8-mutated individuals with FCPA, and the potential role of USP8 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) as targeted therapies in PFCAs.

Advancements in risk stratification and management strategies in primary cardiovascular prevention.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for advancements in risk assessment and management strategies. Although significant progress has been made recently, identifying and managing apparently healthy individuals at a higher risk of developing atherosclerosis and those with subclinical atherosclerosis still poses significant challenges. Traditional risk assessment tools have limitations in accurately predicting future events and fail to encompass the complexity of the atherosclerosis trajectory.

The Effects of Probiotics, Prebiotics, and Synbiotics on Wound Infection: A Systematic Review.

Introduction: This systematic review aimed to summarize the currently available evidence on the effect of oral probiotic therapy on infected wound healing among patients who underwent surgery.

Materials And Methods: An electronic search was conducted for articles published during 2010- 2022 in Embase, PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar using the keywords "probiotics," "prebiotics," "synbiotics," and "wound infection." The titles and abstracts of 2625 articles were screened, and 22 publications that fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included.

Evaluation of bacterial safety approaches of platelet blood concentrates: bacterial screening and pathogen reduction.

This mini-review analyzed two approaches to screening bacterial contamination and utilizing pathogen reduction technology (PRT) for Platelet concentrates (PCs). While the culture-based method is still considered the gold standard for detecting bacterial contamination in PCs, efforts in the past two decades to minimize transfusion-transmitted bacterial infections (TTBIs) have been insufficient to eliminate this infectious threat. Radiofrequency Ablation of Parathyroid Adenoma: Results of a Retrospective Analysis of 60 Patients.

Purpose: To present the effectiveness and safety of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in parathyroid adenoma (PTA).

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, 60 patients with a single PTA were evaluated for changes in biochemical and ultrasonographic features up to 6 months after RFA of the lesion. Adenomas were ablated with an alternative technique so called "Nik jet dissection" which incorporates full hydrodissection and polar artery coagulation.

Barriers to the Use of Insulin Therapy and Potential Solutions: A Narrative Review of Perspectives from the Asia-Pacific Region.

The rising prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is posing major challenges for the healthcare systems of many countries, particularly in the Asia-Pacific Region, in which T2D can present at younger ages and lower body mass index when compared with Western nations. There is an important role for insulin therapy in the management of T2D in these nations, but available evidence suggests that insulin is under-utilized and often delayed, to the detriment of patient prognosis. Pseudodendritic keratitis in citrullinemia; a report of an unusual and novel ocular finding in this metabolic disorder.

Purpose: To report a 15 year old girl with citrullinemia type 1 and 2 accompanied by neurologic signs and symptoms and a novel ocular complaint in cornea like tyrosinemia type 2.

Observations: A 15 year old female was admitted with decreased consciousness and neurologic signs and symptoms. Citrulinemia was discovered through metabolic testing.

Non-thyroidal disease syndrome in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: relation to disease inflammatory activity.

Objective: To identify risk factors for the development of non-thyroidal illness syndrome (NTIS) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 517 SLE patients and 1034 age-and sex-matched healthy population was conducted to compare the prevalence of NTIS in these two groups, and to analyze the laboratory and clinical characteristics of SLE patients with NTIS. Finally Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the risk factors for NTIS in SLE patients.

Method: Among over 2,000 skull base masses that have been managed in our center since 2013, we searched for growth hormone-producing adenomas.
