Introduction: The majority of plastic surgeon specialists note a distinct tendency to increase the number of breasts endoprosthetic surgeries with silicone implants in the Republic of Uzbekistan - the number of such surgeries now reaches 3-4 thousand annually. Breast replacement for aesthetic purposes is widespread throughout the world and has been rapidly spreading in Uzbekistan in recent years. Due to surgical endoprosthetics of mammary gland tissue with silicone implants, both in the early and late postoperative periods, quite often the patient's body experiences typical postoperative pain, which, if subclinical, requires constant dynamic monitoring and preventive rehabilitation procedures.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates trauma-induced coagulopathy (TIC) in elderly trauma patients, focusing on identifying risk factors associated with increased complications and mortality.
  • It analyzed data from 371 patients over five years, noting significant differences between those with TIC and those without in terms of injury severity, serum calcium, fibrinogen, and base excess levels.
  • Key risk factors for TIC identified include an injury severity score (ISS) greater than 16, a shock index above 1, and low base excess, highlighting the importance of these metrics in assessing TIC risk in elderly patients.

Background: Postextubation respiratory failure (PRF) frequently complicates weaning from mechanical ventilation and may increase morbidity/mortality. Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) alternating with high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) may prevent PRF.

Methods: Ventilated patients without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and at high-risk of PRF defined as a lung ultrasound score (LUS) ≥ 14 assessed during the spontaneous breathing trial, were included in a French-Chinese randomised controlled trial.

Background/objectives: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a causative agent of infections and cancers of the reproductive and digestive tract, and vaccination is the most effective prevention method. This research aimed to assess the impact of health education on vaccination coverage and knowledge of the school population related to HPV infection and vaccination.

Methods: This non-randomized clinical trial included 170 participants out of the 221 students in the generation of 2022/2023, who were divided into a group of Subjects and Controls and who self-assessed their knowledge and tested knowledge at four and two time points, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on analyzing the relationship between Fanconi anemia-related genes and stemness-related genes in lung cancer patients using bioinformatics and data from the TCGA database.
  • A total of eight genes were identified to create a risk score that is an independent prognostic factor for lung cancer, with validation from multiple GEO databases supporting the findings.
  • The research indicated that higher risk scores were linked to lower immune activity and poorer immunotherapy effectiveness, while also identifying SLC2A1 as significantly correlated with B cells and other cancer-related characteristics.

This study measured the atmospheric concentration and deposition flux of radiocesium in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, from November 2011 to October 2014. The results show synchronous seasonal change in atmospheric concentration and deposition flux of radiocesium, which is high during winter to early spring and low during summer to autumn. These seasonal variations are similar to those observed in Fukushima City but differ from those in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, comprising a larger contaminated forest area.

The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of a cell-containing wound dressing based on fibroblasts in hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) gel for the local treatment of deep partial-thickness and/or full-thickness skin burns in an animal model. The rats (male Wistar, n = 100) were subjected to a full-thickness thermal burn (16 cm). Radical necrectomy was performed one day after the burn.

  • - The study aimed to create a method for identifying mebeverine and its metabolites in urine and hair to avoid false positives for psychoactive substances when using immunochromatographic tests.
  • - Researchers utilized mebeverine tablets and enzymes to extract metabolites, analyzing them using advanced chromatographic techniques after administering the drug to guinea pigs and collecting urine and hair samples.
  • - The findings revealed that mebeverine and its metabolites were present in urine, while hair analysis indicated only the presence of the native mebeverine molecule, suggesting that hair tests can differentiate between therapeutic use of mebeverine and the use of psychoactive drugs.

  • The study aimed to determine the impact of the timing of continuous blood purification (CBP) treatment on patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) to find optimal initiation timing.
  • Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study involving 130 SAP patients who received CBP treatment, categorized into early initiation (within 24 hours) and late initiation (24-48 hours).
  • Results showed that both groups had improvements in blood calcium levels and reductions in inflammatory markers after CBP, but the late initiation group exhibited significantly lower white blood cell counts and severity scores, indicating potential benefits of starting CBP sooner.

In hip fracture patients, who are mostly elderly, preexisting anemia can be worsened when combined with trauma and surgery. To this date, there is no unequivocal approach about transfusion thresholds. We analyzed hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct) levels at three time points in surgical patients with proximal femoral fractures (PFF) to see which levels were triggers for transfusions and whether transfusions were related to mortality after hospital discharge.

Department of Radiology, Shengli Clinical Medical College of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Provincial Hospital, Fuzhou, 350001, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the benefits of using post-processing technology in CT imaging to diagnose left atrial enlargement (LAE) in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (PAF).
  • It involved 300 patients undergoing CT scans, measuring various left atrial parameters, and established that a left atrial volume index (LAVI) greater than 77.7 ml/m² serves as a standard for diagnosing LAE.
  • Findings indicate strong correlations among measured parameters, with left atrial area (LAA) proving to be an effective and accessible measure for quickly diagnosing LAE in these patients.
