A good and long-term stable electrical contact between the porous anode transport layer (PTL) and the adjacent catalyst layer is essential for efficient polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolyzers. This study describes the extensive comparison of seven titanium passivation-protecting coatings using short- and long-term measurements for at least 2000 h. The measurements are supported by before and after scanning electron microscope investigations of cross sections, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry of the coatings, contact resistance measurements, and ex situ rapid aging tests.

Background: 3D printing holds great potential of improving examination, diagnosis and treatment planning as well as interprofessional communication in the field of gynecological oncology. In the current manuscript we evaluated five individualized, patient-specific models of cervical cancer FIGO Stage I-III, created with 3D printing, concerning their value for translational oncology.
Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the pelvis was performed on a 3.

Up to now bio-inspired fish-mimicking robots fail when competing with the swimming performance of real fish. While tail motion has been studied extensively, the influence of the head motion is still not fully understood and its active control is challenging. In this experimental study, we show that head yawing strongly impacts on the propulsion force and determines the optimal fin actuation amplitude and tail beat frequency when aiming for a maximal propulsion force.

Background: Simulation in the field of gynecological pelvic examination with educational purposes holds great potential. In the current manuscript we evaluate a 3D printed model of the female pelvis, which improves practical teaching of the gynecological pelvic examination for medical staff.
Methods: We evaluated the benefit of a 3D printed model of the female pelvis (Pelvisio®) as part of a seminar ("skills training") for teaching gynecological examination to medical students.

Background: Electrosurgical excisions are common procedures for treating cervical dysplasia and are often seen as minor surgeries. Yet, thorough training of this intervention is required, as there are considerable consequences of inadequate resections, e.g.

Background: Pelvic palpation is a core component of every Gynecologic examination. It requires vigorous training, which is difficult due to its intimate nature, leading to a need of simulation. Up until now, there are mainly models available for mere palpation which do not offer adequate visualization of the concerning anatomical structures.

Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cells are typically operated with high water flow rates in order to guarantee the feed supply for the reaction, the hydration of the ionomer phase and to homogenize the temperature distribution. However, the influence of low flow rates on the cell behavior and the cell performance cannot be fully explained. In this work, we developed a simple 1+1-dimensional mathematical model to analyze the cell polarization, current density distribution and the water flow paths inside a cell under low stoichiometry condition.

Purpose: Electrosurgery is the gold-standard procedure for the treatment of cervical dysplasia. The quality of the outcome depends on the accuracy of performance, which underlines the role of adequate training of surgeons, especially, as this procedure is often performed by novice surgeons. According to our knowledge, medical simulation has up until now lacked a model, which focuses on realistically simulating the treatment of cervical dysplasia with the concerning anatomy.
