The convergence of heterogeneous wireless sensor networks provides many benefits, including increased coverage, flexible load balancing capabilities, more efficient use of network resources, and the provision of additional data by different types of sensors, thus leading to improved customer service based on more complete information. However, despite these advances, the challenge of ensuring reliability and survivability remains due to low-cost sensor requirements and the inherent unreliability of the wireless environment. Integrating different sensor networks and unifying protocols naturally leads to the creation of a network with multiple sinks, necessitating the exploration of new approaches to rational reliability assurance.

It was previously shown that the expression levels of human genes positively correlate with TBP affinity for the promoters of these genes. In turn, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in human gene promoters can affect TBP affinity for DNA and, as a consequence, gene expression. The Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS (ICG) has developed a method for predicting TBP affinity for gene promoters based on a three-step binding mecha- nism: (1) TBP slides along DNA, (2) TBP stops at the binding site, and (3) the TBP-promoter complex is fixed due to DNA helix bending.

Atherosclerosis is a systemic disease in which focal lesions in arteries promote the build-up of lipoproteins and cholesterol they are transporting. The development of atheroma (atherogenesis) narrows blood vessels, reduces the blood supply and leads to cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death, which has been especially boosted since the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is generally accepted that during the domestication of food plants, selection was focused on their productivity, the ease of their technological processing into food, and resistance to pathogens and environmental stressors. Besides, the palatability of plant foods and their health benefits could also be subjected to selection by humans in the past. Nonetheless, it is unclear whether in antiquity, aside from positive selection for beneficial properties of plants, humans simultaneously selected against such detrimental properties as allergenicity.

Synthetic targeted optimization of plant promoters is becoming a part of progress in mainstream postgenomic agriculture along with hybridization of cultivated plants with wild congeners, as well as marker-assisted breeding. Therefore, here, for the first time, we compiled all the experimental data-on mutational effects in plant proximal promoters on gene expression-that we could find in PubMed. Some of these datasets cast doubt on both the existence and the uniqueness of the sought solution, which could unequivocally estimate effects of proximal promoter mutation on gene expression when plants are grown under various environmental conditions during their development.

Air pollution has become a serious problem in all megacities. It is necessary to continuously monitor the state of the atmosphere, but pollution data received using fixed stations are not sufficient for an accurate assessment of the aerosol pollution level of the air. Mobility in measuring devices can significantly increase the spatiotemporal resolution of the received data.

The paper presents one of the possible approaches to pandemic spread modeling. The proposed model is based on the mean-field control inside separate groups of population, namely, suspectable (S), infected (I), removed (R) and cross-immune (C) ones. The numerical algorithm to solve this problem ensures conservation of the total population mass during timeline.

The availability and intensity of sunlight are among the major factors of growth, development and metabolism in plants. However, excessive illumination disrupts the electronic balance of photosystems and leads to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species in chloroplasts, further mediating several regulatory mechanisms at the subcellular, genetic, and molecular levels. We carried out a comprehensive bioinformatic analysis that aimed to identify genetic systems and candidate transcription factors involved in the response to high light stress in L.

This paper uses Covasim, an agent-based model (ABM) of COVID-19, to evaluate and scenarios of epidemic spread in New York State (USA) and the UK. Epidemiological parameters such as contagiousness (virus transmission rate), initial number of infected people, and probability of being tested depend on the region's demographic and geographical features, the containment measures introduced; they are calibrated to data about COVID-19 spread in the region of interest. At the first stage of our study, epidemiological data (numbers of people tested, diagnoses, critical cases, hospitalizations, and deaths) for each of the mentioned regions were analyzed.

Hydrographic data collected from research cruises, bottom-anchored moorings, drifting Ice-Tethered Profilers, and satellite altimetry in the Beaufort Gyre region of the Arctic Ocean document an increase of more than 6,400 km of liquid freshwater content from 2003 to 2018: a 40% growth relative to the climatology of the 1970s. This fresh water accumulation is shown to result from persistent anticyclonic atmospheric wind forcing (1997-2018) accompanied by sea ice melt, a wind-forced redirection of Mackenzie River discharge from predominantly eastward to westward flow, and a contribution of low salinity waters of Pacific Ocean origin via Bering Strait. Despite significant uncertainties in the different observations, this study has demonstrated the synergistic value of having multiple diverse datasets to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of Beaufort Gyre freshwater content variability.
