To confront the energy consumption, high performance membrane materials are urgently needed. Carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membranes exhibit superior capability in separating gas mixtures efficiently. However, it remains a grand challenge to precisely tune the pore size and distribution of CMS membranes to further improve their molecular sieving properties.

Inspired by Wood: Thick Electrodes for Supercapacitors.

ACS Nano

May 2023

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, 291 Daehak-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon 34141, Republic of Korea.

The emergence and development of thick electrodes provide an efficient way for the high-energy-density supercapacitor design. Wood is a kind of biomass material with porous hierarchical structure, which has the characteristics of a straight channel, uniform pore structure, good mechanical strength, and easy processing. The wood-inspired low-tortuosity and vertically aligned channel architecture are highly suitable for the construction of thick electrochemical supcapacitor electrodes with high energy densities.

Mainly exposed crystal facets and controllable morphology play a key role in the final performance of the preparation of specific nanomaterials. In the present study, a metal-organic framework pyrolysis method without adding solvent modifiers was developed. By adding CO in the calcination atmosphere to change atmosphere ratio, FeO nanostructures are exposed with different crystal planes and evaluated their performance in NH-SCR reaction.

Long-chain alcohols synthesis (LAS, COH) from syngas provides a promising route for the conversion of coal/biomass/natural gas into high-value chemicals. Cu-Fe binary catalysts, with the merits of cost effectiveness and high CO conversion, have attracted considerable attention. Here we report a nano-construct of a FeC-Cu interfacial catalyst derived from CuFeMg-layered double hydroxide (CuFeMg-LDH) precursor, i.

A series of VO-xCeO/AC (noted as V-Ce/AC) catalysts were synthesized by the impregnation method, which combined the advantage of AC and V-Ce. The effects of SCR atmosphere on Hg removal were systematically investigated at low temperature. The experimental results indicated that NO had a positive effect on Hg removal.

Electrochemical conversion of CO and HO into syngas is an attractive route to utilize green electricity. A competitive system economy demands development of cost-effective electrocatalyst with dual active sites for CO reduction reaction (CORR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, a single atom electrocatalyst derived from a metal-organic framework is proposed, in which Co single atoms and N functional groups function as atomic CORR and HER active sites, respectively.

Phosphorus Particles Embedded in Reduced Graphene Oxide Matrix to Enhance Capacity and Rate Capability for Capacitive Potassium-Ion Storage.

Chemistry

September 2018

The Jiangsu Province Engineering Laboratory of, High Efficient Energy Storage Technology and Equipment, School of Materials Science and Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou, 221116, P.R. China.

Early studies indicate that graphite is feasible as the negative electrode of a potassium-ion battery, but its electrochemical performance still cannot meet the demands of applications. More efforts should be focused on increasing the specific capacity and improving the rate capability in the meantime. Thus, stainless-steel autoclave technology has been utilized to prepare phosphorus nanoparticles encapsulated in reduced graphene oxide matrix as the electrode materials for a potassium-ion battery.
