Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs) are among the six most common cancers, with a constantly poor prognosis. Vitamin D has been found to have antineoplastic and immunomodulatory properties in various cancers. This study investigated the impact of Vitamin D on the initiation and progression as well as antitumor immune response in HNSCCs, both in vitro and in vivo.

The article deals with some data on investigation of the blood acid-base balance main blood indices and metabolic processes in the rats organism under the artificial hibernation and trivial anesthesia at the foreleg amputation. This model of the artificial hibernation was shown as capable to be promising the hard and complicated operative intrusions in the organism.

Purpose: To clarify the mechanisms of systemic endotoxemia in extrahepatic cholestasis and the pathogenesis of aggravation of multiorgan failure after external biliary drainage (EBD)--for elaborating of the curative tactics.

Materials And Methods: The results of experimental studies performed on 208 Wistar rats and 90 dogs were implemented in the surgical clinic in treatment of 150 patients with cholestasis. Background: Morbid obesity (MO) is a problem internationally, including in the Ukraine. We present the surgical treatment of MO in the Ukraine over the last 15 years, during which intestinal bypasses and various gastric reduction procedures were performed.

Methods: 198 patients with MO underwent: jejunoileal (JI) bypass 64, non-adjustable gastric banding (NGB) 34, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) 1, horizontal gastroplasty 1, vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) 2, and abdominal lipectomy 96.

The duodenojejunal junction and Treitz ligament in the regulation of duodenal emptying.

In chronic experiments in dogs the evacuatory and absorptive duodenal functions and the level of duodenogastric reflux (DGR) in sham-operated dogs and dogs with transected Treitz ligament (TL) and resected duodenojejunal junction (DJJ) were studied. The electrophysiologic characteristics of the antrum, duodenum, and DJJ in sham-operated dogs were examined. It was shown that there is a coordination of gastric and duodenal solid carbohydrate food emptying.
