Background: Adjuvant therapy decisions in hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative breast cancer are evolving. Gene panel testing has reduced the number of patients recommended for chemotherapy by up to two thirds. Identifying low risk genomic cases before testing could represent a significant economic impact.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies with poor prognosis. The use of organoids to simulate gastric cancer has rapidly developed over the past several years. Patient-derived gastric cancer organoids serve as in vitro models that closely mimics donor characteristics, offering new opportunities for both basic and applied research.

Backgroud: Oesophageal cancer ranks among the most prevalent malignant tumours globally, primarily consisting of oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Cancer stem cells (CSCs) accelerate the progression ESCC via their strong self-renewal and tumourigenic capabilities, presenting significant clinical challenges due to increased risks of recurrence and drug resistance.
Methods: Our previous study has reported WYC-209, which is capable of inducing apoptosis of CSCs in melanoma and hepatoma, but is ineffective against ESCC.

B-cell lymphoma extra large (BCL-X) is an important anti-apoptotic protein of BCL-2 family. It is frequently overexpressed in various hematologic and solid tumors, often positively correlated with chemotherapy resistance in tumors. However, the clinical development of the small molecule BCL-X inhibitor ABT-263 has been challenged on account of its on-target and dose-limiting toxicity.

Objective: Active surveillance (AS) is recommended for low-risk and some favourable intermediate-risk prostate cancers, but criteria for AS and deferred treatment have changed over time. We assessed time trends for the use of AS and deferred treatment.
Material And Methods: Nationwide Swedish register study of 76,191 men diagnosed with low- or intermediate-risk localised prostate cancer from 2008 to 2020.

Unlabelled: Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) comprise about 50 species, some of which cause septicemia in preterm neonates. CoNS establish early on the skin and in the oral and gut microbiota, from where they may spread to the bloodstream. The colonization pattern preceding septicemia is not well-defined.

Study Question: What is the cost per live birth after live donor uterus transplantation in a Swedish clinical trial setting?
Summary Answer: The total cost per child, from a health care perspective, was calculated to be €124 894 and if only surgically successful transplants are considered, the total cost per live birth was €107 120.
What Is Known Already: Uterus transplantation has proved to be a feasible treatment for uterine factor infertility by accomplished live births, both after live donor and deceased donor transplantation procedures. Our previous study, the only existing cost analysis of uterus transplantation, found that the initial (up to 2 months after surgeries) societal costs of preoperative interventions, live donor uterus transplantation surgeries, and postoperative care were between €50 000 and €100 000 (mean €74 000) in Year 2020 values per uterus transplantation.

There is no consensus regarding energy content or duration of hypocaloric diets used for preoperative optimization of patients before metabolic bariatric surgery. In this systematic review, we aimed to compare the effect of different hypocaloric diets on reductions in total body weight, liver volume, glucose and insulin concentrations, and side effects. Six databases were searched for articles including adults with BMI ≥35 kg/m treated with hypocaloric diets before metabolic bariatric surgery.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a highly lethal malignancy that currently lacks effective clinical treatments. Eliminating stem cell-like cancer cells is an extremely promising but challenging strategy for treating ICC. A recently developed synthetic retinoid, sulfarotene, abrogates proliferation, and induces apoptosis of tumor-repopulating cells (TRCs) that exhibit stem cell-like properties, yet its effect and underlying mechanisms remain elusive in ICC.

Objective: To enhance the efficiency, quality, and innovation capability of clinical trials, this paper introduces a novel model called CTEC-AC (Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria Automatic Classification), aimed at structuring clinical trial eligibility criteria into computationally explainable classifications.
Methods: We obtained detailed information on the latest 2,500 clinical trials from ClinicalTrials.gov, generating over 20,000 eligibility criteria data entries.

Background: An increasing number of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) syndromes has been reported in tandem with increasing age and burdens of obesity and cardiometabolic disorders. Identifying possible risk and modulatory HFpEF factors has significant epidemiological and clinical value. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of echocardiographic diagnostic criteria of left ventricular dysfunction in patients with chronic coronary syndrome depending on rosuvastatin therapy.

Background And Aims: Evidence suggests that female surgeons achieve comparable or even more favorable outcomes than male surgeons. It is currently unclear what factors contribute to these potential differences. Possible explanations might be differences in personality traits, communication style, attitude, and risk-taking behavior.

Background And Objective: Our objective was to assess whether GeneXpert BC can be used as a triage test to exclude urinary bladder cancer (UBC) for patients with macroscopic hematuria.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study that include consecutive patients being evaluated for macroscopic hematuria between September 2020 and December 2022. Before cystoscopy, study participants provided a voided urine sample for GeneXpert BC analysis according to a case-control design with an emphasis on UBC detection.

Background: Chronic inguinal pain (CIP) can be caused by musculoskeletal or neurological pathologies and by surgical trauma after inguinal hernia repair among other. The aim of this prospective cohort observational study was to find the incidence and causes of CIP unrelated to surgical trauma 12 months after inguinal hernia repair.
Methods: During sixteen months patients consulting a hernia center for groin-related symptoms were included in the study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how fear of reinjury to the Achilles tendon affects return to previous levels of physical activity and self-reported Achilles tendon Total Rupture Score (ATRS) outcomes.
Methods: Data were collected from a large cohort of patients treated for an acute Achilles tendon rupture at Sahlgrenska University Hospital Mölndal between 2015 and 2020. The ATRS and additional questions concerning fear of reinjury, treatment modality, satisfaction of treatment and recovery were analyzed 1-6 years postinjury.

Background: Current embolic agents in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) encounter instability and easy leakage, discounting TACE efficacy with residual HCC. Moreover, clinical TACE aggravates hypoxia and pro-metastatic microenvironments, rendering patients with HCC poor prognosis.
Methods: Herein, we developed Zein-based embolic agents that harness water-insoluble but ethanol-soluble Zein to encompass doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded mesoporous hollow MnO (HMnO).

Background: The survival benefit of surgical revascularization in multivessel coronary artery disease is well understood, though it can be modified by left ventricular dysfunction. Chronic exposure to air pollutants has gained more attention recently as a possible non-traditional morbidity and mortality cardiovascular risk factor. This study identified possible 5-year mortality risk factors related to postoperative left ventricular performance, including air pollutants.

Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II, Hunter syndrome) is a rare, X-linked lysosomal storage disease caused by reduced activity of iduronate-2-sulfatase (I2S), with subsequent cellular accumulation of the glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), heparan sulfate, and dermatan sulfate (DS). DS is a major component of the extracellular matrix of heart valves, which can be affected in MPS II. We investigated the natural history of valve disease in MPS II and the impact of long-term intravenous enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) with recombinant I2S (idursulfase).
