Background: Neurodevelopmental disability is a common long-term concern following surgery for congenital heart disease (CHD). Little information is available from low-resource environments where the majority of children with CHD are born. Several challenges in the CHD care continuum exist in such environments.

Hypothyroidism is typically associated with bradyarrhythmias, but can rarely precipitate life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. We present a case of severe hypothyroidism manifesting as polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT). A previously healthy woman in her early 50s presented with an acute onset of breathlessness and on examination had hypotension and tachycardia.

A 25-year-old man reporting weight loss and constitutional symptoms was empirically treated for tuberculosis. Following acute seizures, the patient underwent cerebral imaging and was diagnosed with multiple nonischemic cerebral lesions. Thoracic imaging revealed fibrosing mediastinitis infiltrating and obscuring the left atrium and left ventricle.

Background: Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is one of the complications of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with high financial burden and poor outcomes. Dynamic coronary roadmap (DCR) is one of the augmentation tools that can provide a dynamic clear coronary mapping with the potential to reduce contrast use and CI-AKI incidence. Herein, we aim to systematically investigate the studies that have assessed the effect of DCR on PCI outcomes.

In heart failure, sympathetic overdrive is evidenced by norepinephrine spillover, receptor level changes, etc. Beta-blockers continue to be the cornerstone of treatment in patients with chronic heart failure due to their ability to counteract sympathetic overdrive. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated that long-term beta-blocker treatment with metoprolol succinate, carvedilol, or bisoprolol enhances left ventricular function and reverses left ventricular remodeling, decreases hospitalization risk, and increases survival.

Aim: There are few studies that have looked at the long-term outcomes of juvenile mitral stenosis (JMS) following percutaneous transmitral commissurotomy (PTMC). This study sought to analyse the modified history of JMS in children following PTMC.
Method: We describe a longitudinal, observational follow-up study of all children and young adults aged <20 years who underwent PTMC at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore, India from 2012 to 2021.

Heart failure (HF) is a global concern, particularly HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), lacking effective treatments. Understanding the differences of metabolic profiles between HFpEF and HFrEF (heart failure with reduced ejection fraction) patients is crucial for therapeutic advancements. In this study, pseudotargeted metabolomics was employed to analyze for disparities of plasma metabolic profiles between HFpEF and HFrEF in two cohorts: discovery ( = 514) and validation ( = 3368).

Background: Ultrathin-strut stents are considered the future of percutaneous coronary intervention for treating coronary artery disease (CAD). These drug-eluting stents with biodegradable-polymer technology have the potential to improve clinical outcomes in CAD patients.
Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the safety and performance of newer-generation ultrathin-strut (50 µm) Evermine50 everolimus-eluting stents (EES) in patients with single or multiple long lesions.

Background: The efficacy and safety of the ultrathin BioMime sirolimus-eluting coronary stent (SES) system in treating single or multiple native coronary lesions, in-stent restenosis, and bifurcation lesions have been evidenced at 1 year.
Aims: We sought to investigate the long-term safety and efficacy of the BioMime SES in a real-world population with obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: The prospective, single-arm, multicentre meriT-2 trial enrolled 250 patients from 11 sites across India.

Background And Objectives: Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) is the noninvasive technique of choice for early detection of cardiac involvement in Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD and BMD, respectively), but is seldom used in routine clinical practice in the Indian context. We sought to determine the prevalence of CMRI abnormalities in patients with DMD and BMD and to compare the CMRI parameters with the phenotypic and genotypic characteristics.
Methods: A prospective, observational study was conducted on patients genetically diagnosed with DMD and BMD who could complete CMRI between March 2020 and March 2022.

Background: Cardiac tamponade or pericardial tamponade (PT) can be a complication following invasive cardiac procedures.
Methods: Patients who underwent various procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab (viz. coronary interventions) were identified using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth and Tenth Edition, Clinical Modification (International classification of diseases [ICD]-9-Clinical modification [CM] and ICD-10-CM, respectively) from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) database.

Background: CHA2DS2-VASc score is used to assess thromboembolic risk in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF)/atrial flutter (AFL), however its utilization to predict outcomes and readmission at following discharge in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) regardless of AF/AFL presence is understudied. We sought to assess its utility in predicting outcomes, length of hospital stay (LOS), and healthcare-associated costs (HAC) in these patients.
Method: The National Readmission Database (NRD) was queried from 2010 to 2017 for patients with/without AF/AFL undergoing CABG using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth and Tenth editions (ICD-9-&-10).

Obesity is a global issue that warrants the identification of more effective therapeutic targets and a better understanding of the pivotal molecular pathogenesis. Annexin A1 (ANXA1) is known to inhibit phospholipase A2, exhibiting anti-inflammatory activity. However, the specific effects of ANXA1 in obesity and the underlying mechanisms of action remain unclear.

Background: Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown etiology characterized by a large vessel vasculitis involving the aorta and its branches. Myocardial involvement is extremely unusual in TA and is mostly in the form of myocarditis, ventricular hypertrophy, and ventricular dysfunction secondary to coronary ischemia. Submitral aneurysms have been reported in TA and has been attributed to the chronic inflammatory process in TA.
