Introduction: Heart failure (HF) is a complex clinical syndrome. Accurate risk stratification and early diagnosis of HF are challenging as its signs and symptoms are non-specific. We propose to address this global challenge by developing the STRATIFYHF artificial intelligence-driven decision support system (DSS), which uses novel analytical methods in determining the risk, diagnosis and prognosis of HF.

Aims: This study aimed to assess nursing workload in Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) after three cardiothoracic surgery procedures during first four postoperative days using Nursing Activities Score (NAS) and Nine Equivalents of Nursing Manpower Use Score (NEMS) systems, to compare their performance for that purpose and to investigate association between nursing workload and type of surgery.
Design: A comparative study.
Methods: The research environment includes CICU of the University Hospital for Cardiovascular Diseases in Serbia.

Gestational hypertension (GH) and preeclampsia (PE) are associated with the onset of hypertension. This study aimed to investigate whether the blood pressure (BP) pattern in GH is associated with the prevalence of hypertension later in life. In this prospective cohort study pregnant women screened for GH underwent medical history, laboratory analysis, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (AMBP), and transthoracic echocardiography (with left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LVGLS)) assessment.

Unlabelled: Fabry disease (FD) is a rare genetic disorder that affects various organs and systems in the body. The disease is caused by a deficiency in the lysosomal enzyme α-galactosidase A (AGAL), which leads to the accumulation of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) within lysosomes. This accumulation can cause damage to cells and organ systems, leading to a wide range of symptoms and complications.

Background: Studies evaluating alterations in cardiac biomarkers in rapid sport-associated weight loss (RWL) and high-intensity sport-specific training (HISST) are lacking. This pilot study aimed to examine the effects of RWL and HISST on heart rate, blood pressure, cardiac biomarkers, and left ventricular systolic function. Nine elite male judokas participated in the presented survey.

It is associated with prolonged hospital stay, increased morbidity, mortality rate and economic costs. The aim of the study was to determine the association between the values of Galectin3 and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP) with POAF after cardiac surgery.

Aim: Sacubitril/valsartan treatment reduces mortality and hospitalizations in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction but has limited application in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sacubitril/valsartan on peak oxygen consumption (VO) in patients with non-obstructive HCM.
Methods And Results: This is a phase II, randomized, open-label multicentre study that enrolled adult patients with symptomatic non-obstructive HCM (New York Heart Association class I-III) who were randomly assigned (2:1) to receive sacubitril/valsartan (target dose 97/103 mg) or control for 16 weeks.

Percutaneous closure of the patent foramen ovale (PFO) is generally regarded as a safe and effective procedure, indicated in patients with a prior PFO-associated stroke. While it is highly safe, rarely, it could be accompanied by a migration of the device, mainly caused by the interplay of a specific PFO morphology and inappropriate device sizing. Herein, we outline a seldom-observed complication of an unintentional detachment of the PFO closure device during implantation, leading to its migration into the abdominal aorta, and a unique management approach.

: The aim of this study was to examine whether the use of an alveolar recruitment maneuver (RM) leads to a significant increase in static lung compliance (Cstat) and an improvement in gas exchange in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. : A clinical prospective intervention study was conducted. Patients were divided into two groups according to their body mass index (BMI): normal-weight (group I) and pre-obese and obese grade I (group II).

Simple and low-cost biosensing solutions are suitable for point-of-care applications aiming to overcome the gap between scientific concepts and technological production. To compete with sensitivity and selectivity of golden standards, such as liquid chromatography, the functionalization of biosensors is continuously optimized to enhance the signal and improve their performance, often leading to complex chemical assay development. In this research, the efforts are made on optimizing the methodology for electrochemical reduction of graphene oxide to produce thin film-modified gold electrodes.

Aim: This study aimed to assess the impact of COVID-19 infection on cardiac surgery outcomes in patients who contracted COVID-19 peri-operatively or had recently recovered from COVID-19.
Methods: The study prospectively enrolled 95 patients scheduled for cardiac surgery who had recently recovered from COVID-19. This formed the post-COVID-19 group.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), although in the majority of cases presents as an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), has different pathophysiology from atherosclerosis that influences specific angiography findings and enables most patients to be solved by optimal medical therapy rather than percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Therefore, accurate diagnosis is essential for adequate treatment of each patient as management of SCAD differs from that of ACS of atherosclerotic aetiology. So far, invasive coronary angiography remains the most important diagnostic tool in suspected SCAD.

Introduction: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is a reversible form of cardiomyopathy characterized by transient regional systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle.
Case Outline: A 78-year-old woman was admitted to the general hospital due to acute inferior STEMI late presentation. Two days after admission, the patient reported intense chest pain and an ECG registered diffuse ST-segment elevation in all leads with ST-segment denivelation in aVR.

Objective: Restrictive diets, forced starvation or voluntary weight loss are attracting more and more attention from scientists. Overall trends show that about 80% of combat sports athletes use specific methods of reducing body mass. Rapid weight loss could be a risk factor for kidney-related adverse outcomes.

This study evaluated the effect of sacubtril/valsartan on cardiac remodeling, molecular and cellular adaptations in experimental (rat) model of hypertension-induced hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Thirty Wistar Kyoto rats, 10 healthy (control) and 20 rats with confirmed hypertension-induced hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HpCM), were used for this study. The HpCM group was further subdivided into untreated and sacubitril/valsartan-treated groups.

Introduction: Physiological heart adaptations may lead to increased susceptibility to arrhythmia in athletes. Furthermore, vigorous training and method like rapid weight loss (RWL) in combat sports could pose additional risks. This case represents how routine cardiovascular screening during high-risk methods like RWL and high-intensity training (HIT) reveal abrupt ventricular arrhythmias in a young athlete.
