Studying lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) early carcinogenesis is challenging, primarily due to the lack of LUAD precursors specimens. We amassed multi-omics data from 213 LUAD and LUAD precursors to identify molecular features underlying LUAD precancer evolution. We observed progressively increasing mutations, chromosomal aberrations, whole genome doubling and genomic instability from precancer to invasive LUAD, indicating aggravating chromosomal instability (CIN).

BACKGROUND Thyroid nodule prevalence reaches 65% in the general population. Hence, appropriate ultrasonic examination is key in disease monitoring and management. We investigated the American College of Radiology Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (ACR-TIRADS) score for diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules and pathological types.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy, safety, and improvement of symptoms by ultrasound-guided microwave ablation (MWA) for patients with large benign thyroid nodules (BTNs).

Methods: Eighty-seven patients with 87 BTNs (≥ 4 cm) treated with MWA between April 2015 and March 2021 were enrolled in this retrospective multicenter study, with clinical and ultrasound examinations performed at the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 12th months. A multivariable linear mixed effects model was employed to explore the alterations in volume and volume reduction ratio (VRR), as well as the potential factors associated with VRR.

November 2023

Department of Breast Surgery, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310009, Zhejiang, China.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is a prevalent malignancy with complex etiology and varied clinical behavior. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as key regulators in cancer progression, including BC. Among these, lncRNA TDRKH-AS1 has been implicated in several cancers, but its role in BC remains unclear.

January 2024

Department of Urology, Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhejiang Cancer Hospital), Hangzhou, China; Institute of Cancer and Basic Medicine (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou, China.

Urinary tract cells respond to bladder distension by releasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Patients with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) exhibit elevated urinary ATP levels compared to asymptomatic controls. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of urinary ATP as a non-invasive biomarker for IC/BPS and its correlation with symptom severity.

GNG4, as a potential predictor of prognosis, is correlated with immune infiltrates in colon adenocarcinoma.

J Cell Mol Med

September 2023

Department of Endoscopy, Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhejiang Cancer Hospital), Institute of Cancer and Basic Medicine (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hangzhou, China.

The tumour microenvironment (TME) and immunosuppression play an important role in colon cancer (CC) metastasis, which seriously affects the prognosis of CC. G protein subunit gamma 4 (GNG4) has been shown to participate in tumour progression and the tumour mutation burden (TMB) in colorectal cancer. However, the effect of GNG4 on the CC TME and immunology remains elusive.

Article Synopsis
  • Recently, a new metric called progression-free survival at 24 months (PFS24) was established as a key indicator for predicting outcomes in patients with extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma.
  • Analysis was conducted using data from two separate groups of 696 patients each to create and validate a risk index (PFS24-RI), which can forecast early disease progression.
  • The PFS24-RI identified five significant risk factors and categorized patients into low, intermediate, and high-risk groups, showing strong predictive ability for both progression and overall survival outcomes.
