Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 19 deletion (E19del) is the most common activating mutation in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and associates with the sensitivity of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) treatment. However, not all mutant patterns of E19del have been well studied for the limited coverage of regular EGFR mutation testing. Here, we performed a retrospective cohort study of the C-helix E19del in advanced NSCLC patients based on the screening data by the next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform.

Background: Currently, few specific biomarkers or standard cutoff values are available for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) detection and survival prediction in patients with early stage colorectal cancer (CRC). Guanylyl cyclase C (GCC) presents as a specific expression in intestinal tumor cells and during their metastases, indicating its potential application as a metastatic predictor of CRC.
Methods: The circulating GCC mRNA of 160 colorectal cancer patients at stage I-III was detected via quantitative real-time (qRT)-PCR in our study, and the correlation of GCC mRNA level with tumor metastasis and long-term survival was explored.

The XPF-ERCC1 heterodimer is a structure-specific endonuclease that is essential for nucleotide excision repair (NER) and interstrand crosslink (ICL) repair in mammalian cells. However, whether and how XPF binding to ERCC1 is regulated has not yet been established. Here, we show that TIP60, also known as KAT5, a haplo-insufficient tumor suppressor, directly acetylates XPF at Lys911 following UV irradiation or treatment with mitomycin C and that this acetylation is required for XPF-ERCC1 complex assembly and subsequent activation.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare thyroid tumor associated with high mortality rates; thus, the identification of novel molecular targets and the development of therapeutic strategies are urgently required. The present study aimed to investigate the role of SRY‑related HMG box‑2 (SOX2) in ATC cells and explore whether the underlying mechanism was associated with fibronectin 1 (FN1). The proliferative, migratory and invasive ability of ATC cell lines was investigated using Cell Counting Kit‑8, colony formation, wound‑healing and Transwell assays, respectively; SOX2 expression in FRO cells was knocked down using small interfering RNA and SOX2 overexpression in FRO cells was achieved using cDNA constructs; and reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR and western blotting were used to identify the mechanism of action underlying the SOX‑2 mediated increased in cell aggressive phenotypes.
