Zinc finger protein 403 (ZFP403), located on human chromosome 17q12‑21, is closely associated with the development of cancer. However, to date, there are a limited number of studies on the biological functions of this gene, particularly in prostate cancer (PCa). The results of the present study demonstrated that compared with normal tissues, the expression of ZFP403 was markedly lower in PCa tissues, as shown by the evaluation of the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis 2 database.

Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC), an aggressive and rare malignancy with poor prognosis, is mostly associated with the overexpression of the androgen receptor (AR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). However, limited data are available for the targeting of both HER2 and AR in advanced/metastatic SDC. A 62-year-old man with advanced SDC accompanied by lung and lymph node metastasis showed disease progression after two lines of chemotherapy and endocrine therapy.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare but highly aggressive thoracic malignancy. ESTIMATE algorithm-derived immune scores are commonly used to quantify the immune and stromal components in tumors. Thus, this algorithm may help determine the tumor microenvironment (TME)-related gene expression profile associated with tumor immunity.

Since December 2019, a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has emerged from Wuhan, China, causing symptoms in humans. Much remains unknown about 2019-nCoV, especially the additional risks that 2019-nCoV infection may pose for colon cancer patients. Many reports show that angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2) is the cell receptor through which 2019-nCoV enters host cells, and this is similar to the cell entry mechanism of SARS coronavirus.

Rationale And Objectives: To evaluate and compare the performance of radiomics in predicting induction chemotherapy response treated with two different regimens in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Materials And Methods: A total of 265 patients with pathologically confirmed locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (stage II-IV), including 115 treated with gemcitabine plus cisplatin (GP group) and 150 treated with docetaxel plus cisplatin (TP group) were retrospectively enrolled. Radiomics features were extracted from the volume of interest delineated in multi-MR sequences on a 3T scanner.

Cisplatin (DDP) chemotherapy is the primary modality of treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, due to the occurrence of DDP resistance, only a limited number of patients benefit from this treatment regimen. Brother of Regulator of Imprinted Sites (BORIS) is expressed elevated in NSCLC.

Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignant tumor, and its incidence has increased significantly in the past few years. A growing number of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) have shown abnormal expression patterns in human thyroid cancer in recent studies. Depending on size, ncRNAs are usually subdivided into two categories: short ncRNAs and long ncRNAs (longer than 200 nucleotides).

We sought to examine surgical resection combined with chemotherapy for survival benefit in cases of synchronous liver metastases from gastric cancer (LMGC), and to identify factors affecting patient prognosis.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with synchronous LMGC between January 2010 and December 2015 were enrolled in this study.

Background: Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a highly prevalent and deadly form of cancer, with efforts to better understand the molecular basis of the progression of this disease being essential to its effective treatment. Several recent studies have highlighted the ability of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) to regulate a wide range of cellular processes in both healthy and pathogenic contexts. Among these RBPs, RNA binding motif protein 47 (RBM47) has recently been identified as a tumor suppressor in both breast and colon cancers, whereas its role in NSCLC is poorly understood.

MiR-183 is a tumor onco-miR and has been shown by our previous studies to be overexpressed in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCCs). In this study, we sought to determine the possible mechanisms of miR-183 in ESCC. In our study, cell migration and invasion, real-time PCR, Western blot, and chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays were used to explore the mechanism of miR-183 in three ESCC cell lines.

Esophageal cancer (ECa) remains a major cause of mortality across the globe. The expression of EIF3J-AS1 is altered in a plethora of tumors, but its role in ECa development and progression are undefined. Here, we show that EIF3J-AS1 is up-regulated in ECa and that its expression correlates with advanced TNM stage (P = 0.

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles with a diameter of 30-100 nm that exist stably in various body fluids, including the blood, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, saliva, and serous cavity effusion. Compared with other vesicles, exosomes have a unique double-layer saclike structure and an endosomal origin. Depending on the physiological state of donor cells, there is heterogeneity in the bioactive substances present in exosomes, including proteins, RNA, DNA, lipids, and metabolites, providing a rich source of potential biomarkers for disease diagnosis.

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are functional RNA molecules that play crucial regulatory roles in many fundamental biological processes. The dysregulation of ncRNAs is significantly associated with the progression of human cancers, including gastric cancer. In this review, we have summarized the oncogenic or tumor-suppressive roles and the regulatory mechanisms of lncRNAs, miRNAs, circRNAs and piRNAs, and have discussed their potential as biomarkers or therapeutic targets in gastric cancer.

Background: Non-coding RNAs have attracted considerable attention for their vital role in cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of non-coding RNAs on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and reveal their regulatory mechanism in the pathophysiological process.
Methods: We measured the expression of mucin 1 (MUC1) and miR-485-5p in tissues from 15 HCC patients and in liver cancer cell lines by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot, screened for aberrantly expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) by miRNA microarrays.

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) alterations have been described in many cancers, including lung cancer, but the role has not been elucidated specifically in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The present study aimed to identify the frequency of FGFR1 alterations among Chinese patients with surgically resected SCLC and the association with the clinicopathological characteristics and the survival were also investigated. FGFR1 protein expression, amplification, mutations, and messenger RNA (mRNA) levels, were determined by immunohistochemistry (IHC), fluorescence hybridization (FISH), polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), respectively in primary tumors from 33 patients with resected SCLC.

Background: In the phase 3 LACC trial and a subsequent population-level review, minimally invasive radical hysterectomy was shown to be associated with worse disease-free survival and higher recurrence rates than was open radical hysterectomy in patients with early stage cervical cancer. Here, we report the results of a secondary endpoint, quality of life, of the LACC trial.
Methods: The LACC trial was a randomised, open-label, phase 3, non-inferiority trial done in 33 centres worldwide.
