Background: The impact of sidedness on survival of later-line treatment in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is undetermined. This study aimed to investigate the association between sidedness and survival among chemotherapy refractory patients with mCRC treated with trifluridine/tipiracil (TAS-102) or regorafenib or both.
Patients And Methods: Patients with mCRC treated with TAS-102 or regorafenib between 2015 and 2020 was retrospectively collected.

With the advancement of communication technology, online synchronous exercise courses become more common in recent years due to their ability to transcend time and space. Based on uses and gratifications theory (U&G), this study proposes a conceptual model for online synchronized exercise classes and examines the relationships among social inhibition, motivation, satisfaction, and continued involvement. After 322 valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed by partial least squares (PLS), this study confirmed the significant positive effects of hedonic, identified, and integrative motivation on online synchronous exercise satisfaction and the significant negative effect of social inhibition on online synchronous exercise satisfaction.

Stimuli-responsive polymeric micelles decorated with cancer biomarkers represent an optimal choice for drug delivery applications due to their ability to enhance therapeutic efficacy while mitigating adverse side effects. Accordingly, we synthesized a digoxin-modified novel multifunctional redox-responsive disulfide-linked poly(ethylene glycol--poly(lactic--glycolic acid) copolymer (Bi(Dig-PEG-PLGA)-S) for the targeted and controlled release of doxorubicin (DOX) in cancer cells. Within the micellar aggregate, the disulfide bond confers redox responsiveness, while the presence of the digoxin moiety acts as a targeting agent and chemosensitizer for DOX.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a leading risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), contributing to cancer development through direct genomic integration and chronic inflammation. N-acetylcysteine (NAC), known for its antioxidant properties, is widely utilized in cancer prevention. However, clinical evidence regarding its protective effect against HCC in HBV carriers remains sparse.

To evaluate the impact of statin use on overall survival and lung cancer-specific survival in patients with unresectable stage III lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) undergoing standard concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Using data from the Taiwan Cancer Registry Database and National Health Insurance Research Database, this propensity score matching cohort study analyzed the influence of statin use during CCRT on overall survival and lung cancer-specific survival. Statin use during CCRT was independently associated with significant improvements in overall survival and lung cancer-specific survival.

Aim: Choosing the initial treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) is pivotal, requiring consideration of solid clinical evidence and patient characteristics. Despite metformin's historical preference, its efficacy in preventing cerebrovascular events lacked empirical validation. This study aimed to evaluate the associations between first-line monotherapy (metformin or non-metformin antidiabetic medications) and cerebrovascular complications in patients with T2D without diabetic complications.

Biotin receptors are overexpressed in various cancer cell types, essential in tumor development, metabolism, and metastasis. Chemotherapeutic agents may be more effective and have fewer adverse effects if they specifically target the biotin receptors on cancer cells. The inhibitor of DNA-binding 2 (ID2) plays a major role in tumor dedifferentiation in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Studies have indicated an inverse correlation between ID2 expression and NSCLC cell invasiveness. However, the mechanisms through which ID2 activation is regulated are currently unclear.
