The financial industry evolves rapidly, offering numerous opportunities but also introducing inherent risks that require careful navigation by institutions. This paper explores the performance of traditional and digital assets as tools for hedging, diversification, and safe-haven strategies during the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapse. Utilizing daily data from April 30, 2021, to September 15, 2023, and employing the Asymmetric Dynamic Conditional Correlation (ADCC) model, which combines four Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) family models and two residual distributions, we conduct a comprehensive analysis.

Active Surveillance in Early Thyroid Cancer: A Meta-Analysis.

Diagnostics (Basel)

November 2024

Data Science Center, College of Medicine, Fu Jen Catholic University, New Taipei City 242, Taiwan.

: There remain several challenges to the acceptance and standardization of active surveillance (AS) in patients with early thyroid cancer. The purpose of this study was to update the evidence of tumor progression outcomes in AS to support resolution of clinical concerns and to examine the effect of follow-up duration, period context such as diagnostic techniques, and tumor size at baseline on outcomes. : PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase were used to search for original articles in English until January 2024.

Department of Information Systems, College of Computer Science and Information Systems, Najran University, Najran, 61441, Najran, Saudi Arabia.

The field of neural style transfer refers to the re-rendering of content image while fusing the features of a style image. The recent studies either focus on multiple style transfer or arbitrary style transfer while using perceptual and fixpoint content losses in their respective network architectures. The aforementioned losses provide notable stylization results but lack the liberty of style control to the user.

Socioeconomic Inequalities in Out-of-Pocket and Catastrophic Health Expenditures in Pakistan.

Int J Public Health

November 2024

Western Centre for Public Health & Family Medicine, Western University, London, ON, Canada.

Objectives: In Pakistan, healthcare utilization is linked to out-of-pocket payments (OOP) which disproportionately affect low-income households. We investigated socioeconomic inequality in OOP and catastrophic health expenditures (CHEs), and the contribution of sociodemographic factors to these inequalities.

Methods: Socioeconomic inequalities were quantified using the concentration index (CI), and the slope (SII) and relative (RII) indices of inequality using data from three rounds of Household Integrated Economic Survey (2007-08, 2011-12, and 2018-19).

The present paper identifies environmental consciousness and institutional trust as determinants of French households' recycling behavior. Based on Schwartz's altruistic behavior model, the study considers environmental consciousness as a multidimensional construct that would bring a richer explanation of household recycling behavior concept. Therefore, it considers the cognitive, attitudinal and behavioral dimensions as key predictors to reflect individuals' perceptions towards recycling.

Article Synopsis
  • Epileptic seizures are dangerous neurological events that require early detection for effective treatment, leading to the development of advanced artificial intelligence methods for improved detection.
  • This study introduces a new ensemble approach, combining fast independent component analysis random forest (FIR) and prediction probability, using EEG data to enhance the early detection of seizures.
  • Experimental results show that the FIR model, particularly when combined with support vector machine (FIR + SVM), achieves a high detection accuracy of 98.4%, indicating its potential for early diagnosis and improved patient outcomes in the medical field.
