The functionalization of gold nanoparticle (AuNP) is the key procedure for the biochemical and biomedical application. The conventional salt-aging method requires the stepwise additions of NaCl and excessive thiolated DNA, mainly due to the poor tolerance of the DNA/AuNP mixture toward NaCl. Herein, we found that NaF is capable of improving the stability for the modification of AuNP with different bases of DNA sequences (poly A/T/C/G), and allows for adding up with a high concentration of 200 mM at one time, which greatly reduces the total modification time to 0.

Introduction: The "weekday effect" on elective surgery remains controversial. We aimed to examine the association between the day of surgery and short-term outcomes after elective surgery for stage I-III colorectal cancer (CRC).
Methods: We performed a multicenter retrospective analysis of 2574 patients who underwent primary colorectal resection for CRC between January 2017 and December 2019 at 15 institutions belonging to the Hiroshima Surgical Study Group of Clinical Oncology.

Blood has an important role in the healthcare system, particularly in blood transfusions and immunotherapy. However, the occurrence of outbreaks of infectious diseases worldwide and seasonal fluctuations, blood shortages are becoming a major challenge. Moreover, the narrow specificity of immune cells hinders the widespread application of immune cell therapy.

Recently, natural photosensitizers, such as berberine, curcumin, riboflavin, and emodin, have received more and more attention in photodynamic therapy. Tanshinone I (TanI) is extracted from a traditional Chinese herb Danshen, and exhibits many physiological functions including antitumor. TanI is a photoactive phytocompounds, but no work was tried to investigate its potential photodynamic effect.

A rapid and ultrasensitive lateral flow biosensor was developed, which based on gold and platinum nanoparticles-decorated carbon nanotubes (PtAu@CNTs) nanocomposite catalytic chromogenic signal amplification strategy for the detection of nucleic acid. Independent platinum and gold nanoparticles modified functional carbon nanotubes (PtAu@CNTs) were prepared by in-situ reduction. Sandwich-type hybridization reaction occurred between PtAu@CNTs-labeled DNA probe, target DNA and Biotin-modified DNA probes, which was captured on test zone of the strip.

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect of aumolertinib on proliferation of human choroidal melanoma MUM-2B cells and explore the possible molecular mechanism.
Methods: CCK-8 assay and colony formation assay were used to evaluate the inhibitory effect of different concentrations of aumolertinib on viability and proliferation of MUM-2B cells. Flow cytometry was performed to analyze the apoptosis, necrosis, cellular ROS production and cell cycle changes in aumolertinib- treated MUM-2B cells.

The incidence rate of acute pancreatitis is increasing, and severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is associated with a high mortality rate, which may be reduced by a deeper understanding of its pathogenesis. In addition, an early determination of the severity of acute pancreatitis remains challenging. The aim of this study was to match potential biomarkers for early identification and monitoring of acute pancreatitis and to shed light on the underlying pathogenic mechanisms of SAP.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from plant extracts have recently emerged as a rapidly growing field with numerous applications in pharmaceutical and clinical contexts. The purpose of this research is to come up with a novel method for the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles that use leaf extract as a reducing agent. The synthesis of AgNPs was confirmed using UV-vis spectroscopy, and the properties of AgNPs were characterized using Transmission Electron Microscope, Fourier Infrared Spectrometer, X-ray diffraction, Thermogravimetric Analysis, and Zeta potential.

Microbial biotransformation and detoxification of biotoxic selenite into selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) has emerged as an efficient technique for the utilization of selenium. SeNPs are characterized by high bioavailability and have several therapeutic effects owing to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activities. However, their influence on microenvironment disturbances and neuroprotection after spinal cord injury (SCI) is yet to be elucidated.

In our previous study, we found highly fatty acid salts, which are a skin-friendly soaps, had a high ability to inactivate the influenza virus. In order to elucidate the mechanism of inactivation of influenza virus, we investigated interactions and complex formation of potassium tetradecanoate (C14K) as a highly fatty acid salt with a virus particle (VP) derived from avian influenza virus by using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). ITC showed C14K attractively interacted with hemagglutinin protein (HA) which exists in the envelop of VP.

Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease associated with the gene RUNX2. Disease-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) have emerged as a useful resource to further study human hereditary diseases such as CCD. In this study, we identified a novel CCD-specific RUNX2 mutation and established iPSCs with this mutation.

Rapid emergence of new strains of drug-resistant H1N1 influenza viruses calls for effective drugs for the controls prior to their outbreaks. In the present work, electrochemical H1N1 RNA beacons have been newly designed for exploring the potentiality of an anticancer agent of Bleomycin (BLM) with Fe (ΙΙ) ions (BLM-Fe(ΙΙ)) alternatively the treatment of drug-resistant H1N1 strains with H274Y gene mutation. Herein, biotinylated (-) ssRNA of H1N1 virus and its complementary (+) ssRNA were labeled with electrochemical signal probes of ferrocene and anthraquinone, respectively.

A gold nanorod (AuNR)-based lateral flow nucleic acid biosensor (LFNAB) is reported for visual detection of DNA with a short test time and high sensitivity. AuNRs with an approximate length of 60 nm were utilized as a colored tag to label the detection DNA probe (Det-DNA). The capture DNA probe (Cap-DNA) was immobilized on the test region of LFNAB.

We report a highly sensitive approach for detecting microRNA-21 (miR-21) in cancer cells and human serum by using Au@Si nanocomposite labeled lateral flow assay. The Au@Si nanocomposite was prepared by coating numerous 3-5 nm gold nanoparticles (GNP) on a silica nanoparticle (SiNP) with a diameter of 150 nm and used as colored label on the lateral flow assay for signal amplification. TEM results show there are around 1000 GNPs coated on the SiNP surface.

A porous hydrophilic affinity bead consisting of graphene oxide and chitosan (pGC) with the honeycomb-biomimetic microchannels has been synthesized and applied as hydrophilic adsorbent for selective capture of glycopeptides. The pGC beads have open-porous structure, honeycomb-like microchannels, large interior voids, and hydrophilic property. Based on the multivalent hydrophilic interactions between glycan moieties on glycopeptides and amino groups and hydroxyl groups on chitosan, the glycopeptides were enriched and separated by pGC beads.
