Hydrocarbon and wax (HW), triacylglycerol (TG), mono- and diacylglycerol (MDAG), free fatty acid (FFA), sterol (ST), polar lipid (PoL), and monoalkyl-diacylglycerol are the major lipid classes.

In this study, we isolated a new isoflavanostilbene maackiapicevestitol () as a mixture of two stable conformers and as well as five previously known dimeric and monomeric stilbens: piceatannol (), maackin (), scirpusin A (), maackiasine (), and maackolin () from heartwood, using column chromatography on polyamide, silicagel, and C-18. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by NMR, HR-MS, and CD techniques. Maksar obtained from heartwood and polyphenolics - possessed moderate anti-HSV-1 activity in cytopathic effect (CPE) inhibition and RT-PCR assays.

Background: An investigation report of stonefly fauna in Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province, northeast China (used to be called Manchuria, now includes Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang Provinces and parts of Inner Mongolia, which are adjacent to the Russian Far East and the Korean Peninsula). Materials were studied with field observation in 2018 and 2019.
New Information: This paper records five families, nine genera and 14 species of stoneflies from Taizi River, Liaoning Province.

We investigated the ability of six prenylated prerocarpans, stilbenoid, and a new dimeric flavonoid, lespebicolin B, from stem bark as well as two 3-O-rutinosides and a mixture of 3-O-β-D-glucosides of quercetin and kaempferol from flowers of Lespedeza bicolor to inhibit HSV-1 replication in Vero cells. Pretreatment of HSV-1 with polyphenolic compounds (direct virucidal effect) showed that pterocarpans lespedezol A (1), (6aR,11aR)-6a,11a-dihydrolespedezol A (2), (6aR,11aR)-2-isoprenyldihydrolespedezol A (4), and (6aR,11aR,3'R)-dihydrolespedezol A (5) significantly inhibited viral replication, with a selective index (SI) ≥10. Background: Palearctic bats host a diversity of lyssaviruses, though not the classical rabies virus (RABV). As surveillance for bat rabies over the Palearctic area covering Central and Eastern Europe and Siberian regions of Russia has been irregular, we lack data on geographic and seasonal patterns of the infection.
Results: To address this, we undertook serological testing, using non-lethally sampled blood, on 1027 bats of 25 species in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia and Slovenia between 2014 and 2018.

Dictyostelid cellular slime molds (dictyostelids) are important soil microorganisms that feed mostly on bacteria in the soil and leaf litter layer. The Russian Far East is the easternmost part of Russia and thus is located in the Middle East of Siberia. In September 2018, 14 samples of mixed soil/humus were collected from the most southeastern portion of the Russian Far East, including Sakhalin Island, Ussuriysk and Vladivostok, and then processed for dictyostelids.

The important regulatory role of brassinosteroids (BRs) in the mechanisms of tolerance to multiple stresses is well known. Growing data indicate that the phenomenon of BR-mediated drought stress tolerance can be explained by the generation of stress memory (the process known as 'priming' or 'acclimation'). In this review, we summarize the data on BR and abscisic acid (ABA) signaling to show the interconnection between the pathways in the stress memory acquisition.

Nudibranch molluscs occur in marine ecosystems worldwide and prey on numerous invertebrate species. During feeding, dietary fatty acids (FAs) unusual for nudibranchs are transferred to their lipids. A simple approach toward the synthesis of the marine sponge derived pigment fascaplysin was used to obtain the marine alkaloids 3-bromofascaplysin and 3,10-dibromofascaplysin. These compounds were used for first syntheses of the alkaloids 14-bromoreticulatate and 14-bromoreticulatine. Preliminary bioassays showed that 14-bromoreticulatine has a selective antibiotic (to ) activity and reveals cytotoxicity toward human melanoma, colon, and prostate cancer cells.

Four new pterocarpans (6aR,11aR)-6a,11a-dihydrolespedezol A (2), (6aR,11aR)-2-isoprenyl-6a,11a-dihydrolespedezol A (3), (6aR,11aR,3'R)-6a,11a-dihydrolespedezol A (4), (6aR,11aR,3'S)-6a,11a-dihydrolespedezol A (5) and one new stilbenoid with 1,2-diketone fragment named bicoloketone (6) along with one previously known pterocarpen lespedezol A (1) have been isolated from Lespedeza bicolor stem bark using multistage column chromatography on polyamide and silica gel. The structures of the isolated polyphenolic compounds were determined by spectroscopic methods. The absolute configurations of 4 and 5 were determined by comparison of their electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra obtained experimentally and the spectra calculated using time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT).

The rolB plant oncogene of Agrobacterium rhizogenes perturbs many biochemical processes in transformed plant cells, thereby causing their neoplastic reprogramming. The oncogene renders the cells more tolerant to environmental stresses and herbicides and inhibits ROS elevation and programmed cell death. Adult Aphanurus mugilis Tang, 1981 worms were detected in the intestine of Moolgarda engeli in the shallow waters off Cat Ba Island, Vietnam. Tang (1981) first described this species in Mugil cephalus off China. The worms in Vietnamese mullet were identical to Chinese specimens in a number of morphometric characteristics, with the exception of body and ovary size.

Thirty-two muskrats (Ondatra zibethicus) were captured for surveillance of avian influenza virus in wild waterfowl and mammals near Lake Chany, Western Siberia, Russia. A/muskrat/Russia/63/2014 (H2N2) was isolated from an apparently healthy muskrat using chicken embryos. Based on phylogenetic analysis, the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase genes of this isolate were classified into the Eurasian avian-like influenza virus clade and closely related to low pathogenic avian influenza viruses (LPAIVs) isolated from wild water birds in Italy and Sweden, respectively.
