Tumors occurring along the hypothalamus-pituitary axis receive axonal projection from neuroendocrine neurons, but it remains unclear whether neuroendocrine neuronal activity drives tumor expansion. Oxidative stress is a pivotal factor in the pathogenesis of malaria, contributing to the development of conditions such as anemia, respiratory complications, and cerebral malaria. Despite the close and clinically confirmed association between depression and overactive bladder, it remains unclear whether this affective disorder is a factor causing overactive bladder or whether overactive bladder is a specific symptom of psychosomatic disorders. This study examined the effects of repeated corticosterone administration on the occurrence of symptoms associated with depression and overactive bladder. Phospholipids are critical building blocks of mitochondria, and proper mitochondrial function and architecture rely on phospholipids that are primarily transported from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Here, we show that mitochondrial form and function rely on synthesis of phosphatidylserine (PS) in the ER through phosphatidylserine synthase (PSS), trafficking of PS from ER to mitochondria (and within mitochondria), and the conversion of PS to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) by phosphatidylserine decarboxylase (PISD) in the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM). Using a forward genetic screen in Drosophila, we found that Slowmo (SLMO) specifically transfers PS from the outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM) to the IMM within the inner boundary membrane (IBM) domain.

Hydrogels (HGs) are 3-D polymeric networks with high water content, making them appropriate for biomedical applications such as drug delivery systems. This study examines the impact of agarose in semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (Semi-IPNs) based on poly(acrylic acid) (p(AA)), N, N' Methylenebis(acrylamide) (MBA) and agarose (AGA) on the sustained release of Polymyxin B (PolB). Agarose incorporation improved the mechanical strength, swelling behavior and drug retention capacity of the HG.

However, the interplay between H3K4me3 and other chromatin modifications in plants remains poorly understood. In this study, we show that the Arabidopsis thaliana ALFIN-LIKE (AL) proteins contain a C-terminal PHD finger capable of binding to H3K4me3 and a PHD-associated AL (PAL) domain that interacts with components of the Polycomb repressive complex 1, thereby facilitating H2A ubiquitination (H2Aub) at H3K4me3-enriched genes throughout the genome.
